| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/5/2006 7:27:04 AM | Because maybe while going through some ancestral memories I get this notion that a woman would find nothing sexier than watching me capture and kill a small animal for our dinner and cook it on a fire.
EWWWWWWW - DOUBLE ewwwwwwwwwww KILL A SMALL ANIMAL???????
That does it - no camping for me.......

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/5/2006 7:35:04 AM | Thanks so much for all the replies. I guess more like it than not. (Maybe I'm a minority?) Anyway, I appreciate the replies. I understand all points of view on this, but I guess I'll never be that outdoorsy type. Gotta have the luxuries if I'm going on a holiday. Guess I work way too hard and don't take enough holidays, that when I do, it's got to be super. Thanks again..... appreciate it. | |

| outdoorsey things Posted: 11/5/2006 9:56:56 AM | Seriously...is there anything more relaxing than listening to the loons on the lake early in the morning? I LOVE to camp and I'm addicted to fishing. Yes, you get dirty, yes, you smell like smoke, but that's the fun! Who wants to spend a beautiful summer's day just sitting at home? I know that there are people who don't enjoy it, so don't do it.
My ex and I used to camp at a lake in our area that was pretty much perfection. The lake was huge, had great fishing, the campsites were beautiful and overlooked the lake perfectly. There was all kinds of wildlife and I am a bit of a bird watcher, so there was a lot of that too. This lake also has island campsites that are very secluded and you have a whole island to yourself! That was an experience! If I didn't have to come to work, I would live out there in the summertime.

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/5/2006 12:35:00 PM | Many men (myself included) lead very busy, stressful, and modern lives. We enjoy camping and getting outdoors because it brings us back (even if its only for a few days) to a simpler time. Everything is simplified for a while. You have your shelter, your wearing clothes that are warm enough and there is food to be eaten. Simple. The rest of the time is for relaxing, clearing your head, and feeling conected to the earth.
Your profile says you are from Edmonton and you are in your 50's. I understand that Edmonton is a pretty big city. It could be that you are too urbanized to enjoy it or it could be your age.

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/5/2006 7:39:00 PM | Either you love the outdoors and all that it entails or you don't. I loved whoever's answer it was that said he liked to escape the foul air, honking horns... etc. How does one find peace and serenity in all that? I haven't a clue. For me the outdoors means being able to slow down and re-energize myself. Nothing gives me a greater high than the "real" things that are out there... you know, the waves lapping, the morning birds singing, that lonesome loon, the smell of the woods in the spring.. in the fall, even the crunch of snow under your feet on those bitterly cold nights. Then camping! Wow, coffee never tastes better than that one made out there next to your tent early in the morning, or the smell of bacon and eggs over an open fire, that bottle of wine or even beers at night as you sit gazing into a fire that keeps changing shapes and colours/hypnotizing you as it crackles, the stars twinkling and shooting overhead as an owl hooo hoots in a far off tree, giggling and rolling around in a tent...trying not to knock it down... ah geez, ever fun! Even trying not to laugh TOO loud because the couple down the way is making too much noise in theirs! You don't have to kill your food out there... unless you want to. Mind you, there's a he|| of a rush when you have a fish on the end of your line!
I'd sooner be outdoors than in. Sooner in the country than in the city. However, can't dance, go to a fine restaurant, clubbing, an art gallery, theatre, concert,... oh sooooo many things... outdoors in the country.
So give me a man that can do both worlds.

and stop reading the Enquirer, Elvis is dead.
For the ladies that love the outdoors, and arent afraid to get dirty....YOU ROCK!!!!!!

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/6/2006 1:07:57 AM | I definately "Love the outdoors". I would take a weekend of camping, fishing, hiking, and sitting around a bonfire cuddling and talking any day, over a weekend getaway at a resort hotel .Im a tomboy at heart and try to spend time doing something fun and outdoorsy every day, even in the winter.I just love the peacefulness and tranqulity of spending time hiking in the woods, camping ect..I do have a feminine side as well, and enjoy dressing up and going out on the town,or going to museums on occasion.Life is all about balance for me,and I intend to enjoy every aspect of it | |

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/6/2006 1:16:00 AM | I think the point of saying something you like is to let the person reading know what YOU like and not falsely advertise something you like to seem like are a better catch for the opposite sex.
I have to kinda roll my eyes when women write they like football, I mean, I NEVER in my life come over a girls house and the game was on and she ran back to the TV after opening the door for me so she would not miss the play. Or interrupted our phone conversation to yell "GO GO GO, you got it!" as the receiver heads for the end zone.

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/6/2006 7:36:35 AM | You ain't never been at MY door, or even walked past my house on the sidewalk, during a BlueJays game! I listen to the games on the radio in my truck as I'm driving. I sit out in my backyard on those awesome summer nights with a bottle of beer/bottle of wine and listen to games on the radio, lounging on my lawn chair watching the stars. That's when my eyes aren't glazed over because my mind is so far away... at the ballgame. My son will come out when I get too loud, laugh at me and tell me that all the neighbours must think I'm nuts!
I drove thirty minutes both ways to be able to watch each game of the World Series because I don't have cable/a dish. I was there even on the night the game was rained out.. went even the next night when there was a good possiblity that the game would've been rained out again. Yeah, when I wrote "baseball" in my list of interests, I meant it.
I know for a FACT I speak for many MANY women out there! Just as many women are into EVERY sport as are into "the outdoors thing", but then... this ought to be another whole thread.
Jeez man, sure there are women... and excuse me... men, that make those bu||shit claims to attract a guy/chick, but there are those that are truly into whatever it is they write on their profiles.
Generalizations are always unsubstantial.

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/6/2006 10:21:00 AM | | I am one of those women. Not only do I love the outdoors I was actually a canoe instructor for a few years pre university and to be honest with you I would probably have to say it's how you grow up. I was born and raised in cottage country ontario and wow. when your raised in an area like that but then have to move to the city for school, work or whatever you can really miss the peace and quiet of the woods. yeah theres bugs and other random wildlife that you may feel are gross but when you've worked your ass off for months and you get that week or 2 weeks vacation where no ones calling you, you have no work to do, no traffic, just you and a few of your closest buds drinking beer (if you drink) swimming and having a great time enjoying the quiet you won't want to go back to the city. you should try it out sometime it's not just cleaning, cooking and bugs some of the wildlife is awesome! | |

Why, why, why are men so into "love the outdoors" and want to go camping and fishing and quadding?? Pleeeeessssssse somebody tell me. Are there really that many women who do this? I don't know of any women who want to sit in the bush with bugs crawling around and strange animals in the forest, and even if it's in a camper trailer (ewww trailer), who wants to cook and clean and make beds and sweep floors on a holiday. Not this cookie. Anyway, it's just a question. Do you really find women who like this stuff? Inquiring minds want to know.
I love the outdoors and adore camping. My idea of the perfect day/ date is a day of hiking in the woods. I love being outside and alone at night in the woods or mountains by a stream with a campfire and clear night sky. I love sleeping in a tent with the night sounds all around me (I HATE campers!) For me, being one on one with nature is the most spiritual and relaxing pleasure in life.
Oddly enough, I don't meet many men who are truly into nature as I am. I'm currently trying to get my fiancé to try camping this fall, but he seems a little nervous!

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/6/2006 11:28:08 AM | Because the yappy demanding harridans don't follow you where thier Prada's could get dirty... To much like work for them.
Spent every Sunday teaching my son to fish. Besides, what smells better than a man wreathed in woodsmoke? I am at home in the woods. It's safer than your average city if you know what you are doing. Not to mention quieter, more alive and full of intruige and possiblilties for the curious mind. That and the occasional surprise of rounding a corner onto a breathtaking sight.
That said, I like a swim up bar at a tropical all-inclusive resort as much as anybody else.
Nobody puts me in a box. I refuse to be a caged human, no matter how nice the cell. Sometimes you just gotta get out and prove that the comforts of home are luxuries you appreciate in contrast to "doing it the hard way" that becomes equally appreciated by contrast.

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/6/2006 11:31:07 AM | | Wow......the outdoors is the best...where else can you really get to know a guy...sitting around the campfire till wee hours of the mornig, having drinks,,,cuddling up to keep warm in the night,,it's great!! I love gettin down and gettin dirty, but I clean up well and can also wear a dress. Out camping you have no worries ,,no phones, no t.v. no computer..peace and quiet from everyday life!! fishing, hiking . quadding it's all so much fun....I would choose it over the city life anyday...Hapecamper | |

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/7/2006 7:47:27 AM | Not just men... I LOVE everything Outdoorsy! I love sitting in the bush, with bugs crawling everywhere!!! More bugs for me to kill and practice my tennis swing (I love those zapper rackets!) Strange animals? Hunt them, photograph them or just enjoy seeing something you'll never see in town... As for trailers...Most trailers these days are like houses... I'll stick to tenting...
Nothing better than waking up at sunrise, jumping in the lake to wake up, starting a fire, then doing NOTHING all day. *(Cept some drinking, eating, fishing and more nothing)
Hmmm... Cleaning??? When I'm camping, I don't make my bed, I don't clean *(unless I'm leaving the site) and who has floors to sweep out in the bush??? Just chuck it outside.
You shouldn't knock it til you try it!

| outdoorsey things Posted: 11/7/2006 8:21:11 PM | GREAT POSTING,,,as a man who loves the outdoors it means "QUAILITY TIME",,appreaciate the basics,,,talking, communicating,,learning more and more, exploring our basic selves,,,,I think after we both read the posts,,,no one mentioned "crusies",,,all outdoor activites are like a walk on a Promade deck,,,to look, feel, see, appreaciate the wonderful beauty that surrounds us ,,,,yes,,camping,,walks in the beach,,,bonfires,,,such quaility time, such beauty,,,yet to really appreaciate it,one has to feel it inside the soul,,,as for men being rare to such as you say,,,no,,boys yes,,,not men,, as for the same with LADIES and than there are girls,, you will also note Kaz that there was not one word in the posts about "ALL ENCLUSIVE RESORTS",,,they have many of the activites you refer to,,,I myself have met ladies who have no idea what they are ( resorts) and the activites they have there,,,I also noticed in the posts,,,that I did not see anything about "sharing such experiences with that special someone who appreaciates not only the experiences, but each other",,,,
Unlike your post,,,my question is where is she,,

| outdoorsey things Posted: 11/7/2006 8:51:08 PM | | Living here in the south, nearly every woman's profile I read says she likes outdoorsy stuff. I grew up on a farm, doing all that pitching hay, working cattle, camping with my friends, etc. But when we sold it, I realized I didn't have to be outside again unless I wanted to. I'd go camping with my ex and her family (they had a big camper with a/c and all) and I'd still rather be home in my own bed, surrounded by my things, with no humidity, bugs, or lack of decent toilet facilities. And I am in no way an "unmanly" man; I just believe a man can find better things to do with his g/f or wife that generates sweat. | |

| Why, why, why are men so into love the outdoors thing Posted: 11/8/2006 7:11:57 AM | I will try and answer that. Since i do alot of camping and fishing. First off, I started camping and fishing when I was real young. My partents use to take me to the rivers and camp out. It is very relaxing to hear the sounds of nature over the sounds of the city life. It is a more tranqual setting by far. Sorry, but campfire cooking at times taste alot better than going to some place in a city. You really don't know what you are missing if you don't get out and enjoy life. Yeah, you might get your cloths a little dirty or wet., Yes, you might even get a little dirt under your pretty fingernails. Also, it is a natural for a man to do this to some extent. I mean, man has done this for millions of years. So why stop it now. Besides, a Bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work. | |
|
| outdoorsey things Posted: 11/8/2006 7:15:46 AM | | Camping does add some adventure to your life. Some people are all about inclusive resorts down south. Others prefer backpacking through Europe and staying in hostels. I'll say this the people you meet at hostels are far brighter, interesting, stimulating than the all inclusive resort people. | |

| outdoorsey things Posted: 11/8/2006 8:42:17 AM | I LIKE you stripgirl! LOL I even went and read your profile. LOL You'd be a blast to camp with. Mind you.. you've got to at least scrape the egg yolks off the plates in the morning or something.. c'mon. No sweeping though, you're dead right. Jump in the lake, light the fire, then... NOTHING all day! *sigh* Is that heaven or what! LOL More bugs crawling on you ... well, maybe I should say more bugs biting you waaaay up there where you are, than down south here where I am. *grin* Hey "Neighbour"!
The next post I have to admit I had a lot of trouble reading. I think he’s talking about cruises. <div class="quote">"crusies" Sorry, but I have a really hard time thinking of a cruise as an “outdoorsy thing”. Then he goes on to talk about <div class="quote">"ALL ENCLUSIVE RESORTS" Hello?! They have many of the activities WHO has referred to??!! Not sure that I’ve ever heard of all-inclusives that have advertised fishing, mudding, camping, bacon and eggs over an open fire, never mind: <div class='quote'>stalking a lone animal silently through the night with nothing more than an oversized knife, leaping on it, besting it in mortal combat, and then wearing its pelt for warmth and status while devouring its remains
I think, 13sara13, if we were all the same, all liked the same things, liked to DO the same things, life would be as boring as he||. I, myself, like that we are more unique, and that we have to sift through the masses to find another soul that complements, or harmonizes with our uniqueness.
Ummmm… yeah. And I drive a 4X4 Toyota and bait my own hooks. (had to add that after sounding so… ummm… “adult” since stripgirl uses that as almost an insult on her profile!)

| outdoorsey things Posted: 11/8/2006 9:04:45 AM | | I guess to the op that maybe not all guys care to sit in some hotel room watching you cry to some lame chick flick while you get room service. Camping, fishing and the whole outdoors thing is fun. But I guess your to good for that sort of stuff. So run along and get your room service and talk to all your little friends about how yucky it is and leave the people who know how to have fun alone. | |
