When my dad got to be an old man he'd always go to bed by 9. I think he was an old (and long dead) fuddy-duddy, so I stay up to 10. Well, at 10 I wake up and go to bed...

I work at a hospital here in New Zealand, and we nurses are rostered for all three shifts, so my bedtime is 8:00AM. 9:00PM or 1:00AM depending on what shift I'm working.

I do sleep much better when I'm not sleeping alone...I guess it is the activity prior to sleeping that makes us sleep so well...................at least that is in the deep recesses of my mind.

Most nights it is between 10 and 11. Last night it was 1am. I normally wake up at 6 because I have had to be up at that time since I was in kindergarten.

Strange thing is on the weekends, I wake up wide awake, weekdays, dragging my backside out of bed. Go figure...............

Must tell you something my sister used to say; ‘If I’m not in bed by 10pm then I go home.’ She always was the more adventurous one...

Even on my day off, I wake up no later than 5:30 a.m. On a work night I am usually in bed by 1o:30, but often stay up til long after 1 a.m on my night off.

So true about sleeping more deeply when sharing the bed with someone you care about, unless of course they snore!!

CrabbyPants: maybe you should go to bed sooner, then you wouldn't be so crabby.

When I was single, i would crawl in at about 10:30, up at 5:30.

Now that I am married, I crawl in when he does and we go to sleep whenever. Up at 5:30 still.

I have found that I don't need as much sleep as I used to, but every so often, I need that full 8 hours.

Also, I like to sleep with the window open, even in the winter (just a crack so the cold air hits my face). Apparently I am a cold pillow swapper.

I put one pillow on the floor and sleep with the other one. Part way through the night, I swap and mumble something like "ah, cold pillow".

Creepy.

I go through periods where insomnia gets me and I'll be up about an hour later each nite than the nite before until I find I've pulled an all nighter and my schedule is totally messed up.

Right now I'm doing okay. In bed shortly after midnight and up anywhere between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30.

...Bedtime is usually around midnight or shortly thereafter.....but, if I had some sort of "motivation", I could probably be persuaded to go to bed much, much earlier.

Hey Daf and Mae -- let's get our road show moving (when are you coming over, Daf?) and only take naps when we need 'em! We'll be too busy for all that sleep time.

To bed any time between midnight and 3 AM, up at 7-8 AM. Sometimes I manage not to sleep at all, then it's a half hour nap in the afternoon. When I was a kid I liked to get up to watch the sun rise, then I grew up and stayed up to watch the sun rise.

I usually go to bed around 11 but it can vary it really depends on how tired I am and when I have to get up. I like to get 8 hours it is really important for a persons immune system to get enough sleep.

I would love a life that revolved around my natural body clock...but alas....

Bedtime for me is at 2 a.m. and I like to sleep until 10 a.m. I'm a night owl, for sure.

I am 53 and work 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m usually, on my weekends to work 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on the days the night shift calls in depending on what time I get called in it ranges from 8:00 p.m to 7 a.m. sometime I go in at 1:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. On my days off I am up early waking up about 3:30 a.m. so bedtime is usually between 8 p.m to 10:00 p.m. if watching TV sleep through the whole program.

I've always been a late-nighter. I'm up past 1am most nights, sometimes past 2am, but I don't have to get up early, so it works out. Not sure why I have this rhythm, because I love the sunlight.

I can't just lie down and sleep at any old time, I have to be worn out, so staying up past a reasonable time seems to do that for me. I sleep solid and rarely wake during the night. I rarely take naps.

Today I was about to take a nap and I realized I wasn't really sleepy, I was just bored, so I rode my bike for 30min and that energized me -- also made my joints and feet sore. Actually it's quite odd I didn't nap today after I swept/mopped/vacuumed most of the house, raked leaves in the yard, hauled furniture to the alley, and degreased, hosed and swept out the garage.

I should have passed out hours ago!
