Posted: 1/20/2007 4:28:38 PM | I've been finding that men who take up tattoos and piercings and all that tend to be rather intellectual, insightful, and mature indivudualists, rather than just another guy in a monkey suit and tie. I've never seen a tattooed guy get overtly angry over something insignificant, and I rarely find myself getting angry at them, either.
I mean, if we are looking at extreme body art, just look at Marilyn Manson! He's one of the most down-to-earth guys there is in the public spotlight. Besides him, I've never heard of anyone being called a Satanist and not worrying about the technicalities that make it true yet not true (he is an honorary member of the Church of Satan, a religious organization focused on Laveyan Satanism, but he doesn't actually take part in it beyond being an individualist by nature).

Recently, I have come to the decision to get a tattoo myself ... nothing major to start, just the initials of my nephews ... so, in 10 years when they come back in to my life, I can show them the tattoo and say "THIS is how much I love you and have been thinking of you"
I'm still debating on what to encircle the whole thing it .... I want something that relates to all 3 of them, and yet still covers each individually. ..... guess I have to get my creativity flowing to come up with something here ..... HMMMMM
OP..... Guys who take the time to figure out what THEY want, not what a buddy wants or thinks they should get, make it special. At the same time as you think of what you want, you also need to think of what it will look like later in life ... I keep thinking of Grampa Simpson and his "fighting fish" tattoo ..... LOL

Posted: 2/8/2007 8:54:09 AM | Personally, I think it is hot!! I have a lot of ink myself (getting my 8th one this weekend) and most people just CAN'T HANDLE THE INK!! Why? Because it makes you different. In the world we live in, flashing a lot of 'ink' is just not kosher. I've had guys ask me to cover up the tattoo on my hand with stage makeup before we went out to dinner...alright, we were going to Applebee's....not some $100-a-plate restaurant!!
I say if anyone ever has an issue with your ink then you don't need them, because if they cannot respect the way you express yourself then they will never be able to respect you as a person. I look at tat's the same way as some people look at writing poetry...it's the way I express myself as a person... | |

Posted: 2/8/2007 2:01:43 PM | I think it depends on the individual, and the specific tattoo designs. Obviously body art is a form of self expression, so I am all for that. I do not have any myself, but to each his/her own style. Some individuals just seem more suited to many tattoos than others.
The downside...
I do, however, know of one young man who is struggling to get a job in his chosen field (social work) because some employers seem to be taking one look at all of his body art and showing him the door. It is unfortunate because he is one of the nicest, most sincere, articulate, and compassionate people I have ever encountered. (All other things equal, he figures this is the only viable reason; though it is difficult to prove for certain).
It is not right to discriminate based on appearances, but I suppose some employers still do so. | |

i like a tattoos on a guys back a few on upper arms is cool and a few on the chest
but when it comes to them being covered it can be a lil bit of a turn off : /
but i do love a man with tattoos there is something just real sexy about it...
