sadly tech suport at most isps suck balls. as for window being unstable dont take it the wrong way but it could have been how you where using it. as well could have been driver conflicts. but if your dad can fix it then its not really a big deal. isps tech suport is rely just there to piss you off any way. there have been countless times i have toll my isp off for not supplying sutiable tech suport

tech support is there to give people jobs.. and to let you know that there is someone there that can help you as best as they can.. the people that really know how to fix all your computer problems..have way better jobs.. and arent gonna waste there time with some minimum wage tech support job..

yah.. but you cant raise a family.. and barley make it with that much.. its not minimum wage but its also not a whole lot.. what i meant was that anyone who knew anything about computers and were really good with them would most likely have there own business.. rather then rotting in a tech support job.. also.. thats 14 bucks canadian.. like 11.50 american.. i used to make 12 bucks an hour.. and i couldnt even support myself on that..

did you burn the image file to the cd or did you burn the image? meaning if you open the cd in explorer do you see a directory structur or just a file ****.iso?

you have to run nero then click on open file switch the drop down menu to all files and pick the iso then burn it

ecc, it's way easier if you get a garbaged computer to play with. And SUSE is not as easy as you might have been led to believe, especially if you have any kind of funky hardware. I hear Mandrake is very easy on beginners. My history is Mandrake 7 -> Debian (Potato) -> Red Hat 7.3 -> Debian (Sarge) -> Red Hat 8 ->9 -> Fedora 1/2/3. That's a lot of history and a lot of things that maybe come automatically rather than become explainable. I'm thinking that in a couple of months, Fedora 4 will come out and even though FC3 was astoundingly easy, FC4 will make it even better. Just remember to install apt-get from FreshRPMs first and get your shady mp3/divx decoders.

it keeps telling me that it can't verify the data, when I try to boot it the failure occurs when loading the linux kernal

I might try a differant one, maybe mandrake

In Nero Burning ROM version 6.0 +up, go to the < Recorder > Menu, click on Burn Image.... Then select your Image File, very likely an ISO, and click < Burn >.

Also, there are 'Freeware Software Tools' you can download that can verify whether the ISO you have downloaded is not corrupt, such as ISOBUSTER, before you burn it to CD-R.

Search GOOGLE for 'Isobuster'.

Next best candidate in line for burning Image Files is 'CDRWin'.
Search Google for 'Goldenhawk'.

You can download a 30 day evaluation version free of charge, but your burning speed will be limited to 1x, providing your CD-Writer has that capability.

Third & fourth Runner-ups would likely be either 'CloneCD' ...
Search GOOGLE for 'slysoft' to download a free 21 day unlimited Evaluation version ...

... or 'Alcohol 120' is available for download for a 30 day free Trial.
Search GOOGLE for 'alcohol-soft'

I tryed Mandrake at first... I spent a week trying to decide which distro I wanted. I tryed to install mandrake and kept getting errors. Then I tryed SuSe and bingo... but there are many distro's out there.. and if you just want to try Linux and see how you like it, Knoppix Live would probably be a good choice.
