| Women in uniform... guys what do you think about this?
Posted: 3/19/2007 9:14:31 AM | I'm an EMT and work for the local Sheriff's Office. Our uniforms are like the deputies' uniforms, just a different color shirt. Most people don't know the difference, though, and don't realize that, instead of guns, we have scissors and penlights. Our uniforms and the deputies are not flattering to any women I've seen. As someone said, they're originally constructed for men and they tailor them a bit for us. Men look great in uniform. Women? Not so much.
I was surprised to see how many men are adamant that they do NOT want to date a woman in uniform. I have to say, it kinda hurt my feelings. Most of us are doing the uniformed jobs we do b/c we're compassionate and have a desire to serve others. True, most of us are also more aggressive and independent but that's just who we are ,and those qualities serve us well in emergency medicine, fire, and/or law enforcement. Just as I've found with men in uniform, we're just regular people. We just have assigned clothes to wear to work! Cut us some slack, okay? | |

Posted: 3/19/2007 9:34:55 AM | People in full time active duty military in the US are not allowed to homestead anymore, so dating someone and getting seriously involved when I'd have to move every couple years? No thanks.
Date a cop? Not a chance. She'd either have to arrest me, my friends, my family, or if we were all hanging out together....all of us at the same time.
Cops are a "special bunch" to begin with anyhow. | |

I wear scrubs ALOT.
Takes alllllllllllll the worry out of what I am going to wear to work. 
At home, my uniform is anything comfy. HIS big tshirt would be nice.
Only one little thing missing ... the HIM to whom the shirt belongs!  | |

Posted: 3/20/2007 8:47:42 AM | I don't see many women w/ TAILORED uniforms.....& that makes all the difference in something that was probably designed for a man to begin with.
I think taller women could probably pull off the cop/military thing pretty well. | |

Hmmm a knock on the door at 3am by a female in police uniform could be a bad thing (unless it was a belated birthday suprise), and fire uniform doesnt do a great deal for me as I see it every day (although those wearing it are male) ! I guess most guys love anything very short and very shiny, be it maids, nurses etc I think its natural in a way
Bunkers definately don't do anything for my figure...hahahaha I look like one of the guys in those, but then again according to them I am just one of the guys...hahahahaha | |

Posted: 7/12/2007 8:05:06 PM | Before anyone starts agreeing with that poster Handyman - you tell me how are the police supposed to protect the public when the criminals are running around with all kinds of weapons? What kind of society do you want? One that is overrun with criminals doing as they please. Get a grip. I take offense to those remarks about police because they carry guns. You probably never had anyone hold you up and rob you or hurt you after taking your stuff. You have no idea what you are talking about. Being against guns is one thing, but being against police because they carry guns is asinine. You ought to have been down at the world trade center in NY on 9/11 as I was and then I want to see how brave you are. Those police, firefighters, military and medical personnel are the best.

The hardship is the shift work and being away on deployments that weigh more than the uniform....and the emotional baggage that you carry with these high stress jobs. I know as I was in the military for years and am now a correctional officer. | |
