| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 7/31/2007 9:52:34 PM | Serenity, Thanks for sharing your viewpoint . I think most people are good people who have a heart. It's just we all have different thoughts on what the best solution to the problems are. None of us are 100 per cent right, none of us are 100 per cent wrong, to me each has some good points and some bad points.
Just a side note about something that has me sad and a bit down in the dumps this evening. There was another shooting in Hazleton. This time two men were shot to death early Monday morning, around 2:51 am. That makes 4 shootings and 2 homicides since May 9.
Quote from our paper: Police beefed up their ranks and firepower Citizens joined crime watches and installed alarm systems in there homes. A priest prayed for the victims Each action a reaction to crime in Hazleton.
Made me so sad to read that. Makes me sad that just a few short years ago Hazleton was a great place to live, peaceful, safe, you didn't even really worry about locking your doors, or about driving or walking the street at night. All that has changed now. Now we have community crime watch groups. ( One has been successful but the others aren't doing to well. Leaders of the groups say people fear retaliation ) you check twice to make sure you locked your doors, not only in your home, but when you're driving down the street in your car, and you don't go for a stroll down the street to enjoy the night air anymore, in fact you think twice about walking down the street during the daylight hours now.
I said to my friend the other day that there seemed to be an unusual number of homes up for sale in Hazleton lately. I'm not talking only in the downtown heart of the city but also in the more residential areas not so close to the heart of the city. Today in the paper I read that people are moving out of Hazleton to the valley communities. A spokesman for a home alarm system said even there they don't feel safe, they fear the violence spilling over into those communities so they are having home alarm systems installed. Maybe he was just putting in a plug for his company. lol
The mayor, the police, the clergy, many of the citizens are all working hard, trying the best way they know how to take the city back from the drug dealers, the gangs, the other violent criminals. I pray they are successful, I'm saddened about what Hazleton is turning into, and it's not for lack of the officials and citizens trying .
We aren't only focusing on law enforcement but we are offering classes in English, our charities, the Salvation Army, the local Y all have programs to offer a helping hand in social issues.
Thanks for letting me I would say vent but it's not venting, it's not anger, it's a deep sadness inside. I feel like the title of this post should read "The Death of Hazleton." Guess I'm just really feeling blue tonight over all the crime and violence that has found it's way to our town. But the sun will come up tomorrow. lol Thanks for lending an ear. I hope it's alright to post this, maybe someone from some other small city can relate to it and share how their city handled the problems.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/1/2007 12:29:22 AM | i am so sorry for you sweetie. i remember staten island when it was the country. bergen county in nj developed way too fast a long time ago and now warren and hunterdon--both counties i lived in. allentown when i was near there was just getting "hip" and now i'm told places are unsafe.
it's wierd ,but when i heard the oklahoma bombings i prayed it was not an ethnic because i feared retaliation against the good people. but no matter how you cut it, the good people are so often hurt--irrespective of culture.
usually a place changes over time. whereas hazelton just blew apart and open. when i went back to brooklyn to where i lived all my life, all the trees were down, but thank G-d the owner of my home from Grenada took me in and told me she knew what it was like, because she fled her country and her home was destroyed in war. she make me feel very wanted. i told her secrets about the house that she did not know.
well, now i am crying about you and crying about my own personal loss tonite (looks like i'll be single again and did not know what even hit me). by tomorrow , we will both cry more and then we will pick up our butts and do what we have to do. i cannot imagine what it is like for war torn places and i pray for you and everyone in this world-- being powerless is a strange thing.
i try to cheer myself up with my sick sense of humor and say if all was well, the world would overpopulate and we would all eat each other for dinner. yik. i'm a vegetarian! but somewheres in life there has to be meaning, even if fleeting. when i want to fall apart i just believe my HIgher POwer is there for me. and you know what, i have no clue who/what HP is, but i just trust. the nice thing about pof is that a friend all the way from australia is calling in the morning for me and in the middle of the night for her and a friend from canada is writing me and i find strength to know that people care and reach out. just wish everyone was close by for coffee and face to face.
sometimes i wish i had never started this thread. i had no clue about the negative sentiment due to the situation where i live and was only worrying about legal precedent and having all americans rights to liberty taken away by requiring that you register where you live. but i guess HP felt it was needed. soooooooooo, sorry i too am soppy and hope the rest of you will forgive me for the rest of my bawling. i don't cry all that often , but when i do....BOY, it's bad. but then comes the logic... i need a framework i guess to function.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/1/2007 10:31:31 AM | Illegal immigration is not about ethnicity.... its about OBEYING THE LAW.
What part of "ILLEGAL" is not comprehensible to you?
Illegal immigrant = criminal. A definition that is 100% true every time.
Criminals DON:T CARE about other people's property rights.
Criminals just TAKE what they want... be it your wallet, your car, your TV, your tax dollars (via stealing health care by using the ER as a free clinic...) or... your life.
Illegal immigrants are vermin.
***************
LEGAL immigrants... are fine. They OBEYED THE LAW.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/1/2007 10:59:04 AM | Another aspect to whats happening in our country right now. Has anyone considered how many immigrants we will be needing to invite/protect coming from Iraq and Afghanistan? If and when the Military presence pulls out of those two war situations? There will be many people who supported and helped the troops who will need to be protected, same as in viet nam and we are obligated to reach out and protect them and their families and give them a safe haven. I read in the newspaper where our government is now planning for 7000 to be relocated here and be assured there will be even more in time to come.
If our "open border" policy to the south were truly based on humanitarian caring for those less fortunate than ourselves, instead of greed, we would be bringing people from the civil war torn countries of Africa here for a better life and actually to give them a chance to live, instead of saying its the humanitarian thing to do, for our neighbors to the south, to give them a chance at a better life........there is no civil war going on in Mexico. People in Mexico are not being slaughtered by the thousands.
|
| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/1/2007 4:48:12 PM | If the illegal immigration was really about humanitarian aid to the underprivilidged...
We'd be importing people from Etheopia by the boatload.... as fast as we could.
True.
They can't feed themselves over there... and any aid we send gets stolen by the despots in power.... very little gets to the people in need.
There are portions of Africa (the continent... many countries...) where the average life expectancy is down to near 20 due to AIDS, starvation and war. I tend to think they need help a lot more than the Mexicans or people from Central/south American countries...
****************
If US immigration policy needs changing... then change the policy LEGALLY...
As for the Illegals....Don't cross the border illegally thumbing your nose at our laws then say you have the "right" to be here. You don't.
The US would be FULLY JUSTIFIED in enforcing the borders with the US Army... by use of deadly force. Thats actually the main purpose of the military... Defending the nation. We are being invaded.
*****************
Note... I KNOW that Mexicans come in all colors, just like people in the US... Black, white, "hispanic", "Native" (whatever term is now "politically correct"to use for the peoples that were thererbefore Collumbus... I can't keep up with the moronic liberals changing their minds.)
So... its not about race...

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/2/2007 8:30:05 AM | Laws where created to protect our Country since 1942! Do you realize there are 1800 illegals stopped EVERY SINGLE NIGHT in only ONE SECTOR, of the Arizona border. These people are not what we want in our county, please study up on MS-13, ZETAS. These gangs make the Italian Mafias look like daycare children. There are parts of the border that look and sound like Iraq, people are being found BEHEADED. MUSLIN TERRORISTS ARE PAYING $25,000 TO BE SMUGGLED ACROSS OUR BORDER! How soon you have forgotten 9/11! They are killing over 25 Americans EVERY SINGLE DAY, that is more than we lose everyday in the Iraq war! They broke the law to come here what makes you think they give a rats ass about your right, your home, your personal property! Go look up La Raza, (the race) these people are receiving grant monies in this country and they teach "We will kill all Americans who stand in our way"! The same founder of La Raza that made this statement is now sitting on the board of directors of Sears! Look up Atzlan! Look at the amount of babies they are having! Think of the amounts who protested in your face, telling you the American people of what they demand from you, this is the silent take over they tell you about! Remember the Trojan horse! You soon will have no vote, those babies are turning of age. The Mexican government publishes handbooks for those crossing, telling them of all the services they can file for if they make it! Why? Because the Mexican Government takes 40% of EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR WIRED ACROSS THE BORDER! That is Mexicos greatest income! This is once again about the law people! Come legally, OBEY ALL OUR LAWS, learn & USE English, Respect our Flag & Country! Do me a big favor, come here or to towns like Hazelton, let us give you a tour, let us show you what being kind, loving and charitable has gotten us, our cities and towns! Next time someone robs a bank, mugs and kills in your town.....REMEMBER THEY ARE ONLY TRYING TO BETTER THEIR LIVES ALSO!!!! Demand that the media report the truth about what is happening or research it, the information and truth is out there. | |

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/4/2007 1:52:28 AM | yes fred, i agree with you about africa. that is actually where my heart has always been. and yes, i believe in legality, said that before. however, i still feel for those who are not gang members or drug dealers and come here to feed their families and wonder, if i would have the ability to do the same if i was in their shoes. i still know that there is a "reason" that the current national leadership is doing nothings and that has strictly to do with corporate greed and G-d knows what involvement we have with the drug rings as in the past. so, in the meanwhile, when i come upon a child who is prime for becoming a gang member or a drug target, i focus there.
a number of other threads project that in some 50 or so years, the usa will not be the mover and shaker. some look to china and others to india. at that point in time, this hemisphere may indeed be organized differently in order to compete. some of you may live to see this or if not you, your children. while you are expressing your current concerns, please keep in mind to prepare for anticipated changes in the new global economy.
i sincerely doubt that anyone here is strong enough to maintain the current situation. is it fair? nothing in life is totally fair to all people. we've just been the lucky ones so far.
hope you are ok, sweetie.

You know a wall will cost Billions in tax payers dollars for peace of mind, but not actually stop the tide of immigrants(mind you, thats the cost of a wall- having the military patrol this wall would cost even further)

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/11/2007 12:16:44 AM | This post may seem a bit flitty, kind of random thoughts going from one subject to another, but I think in away it pertains to immigration.
The new global economy. I'm beginning to think that's just another term for low wages. Perhaps good bye middle class ?
Maybe I'm wrong. I will be the first to admit I know nothing about economics but it seems to me that allowing people to wander freely from country to country in search of work would keep wages low.
The other thing is what about "roots" ? Putting down roots in a community. Having generations of the same family living in the same area ? Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, living close to each other, a sense of extended family. Are we to become a civilization of nomads roaming from area to area seeking employment ? No more sense of extended family ? If that is what globalization is all about, I feel sorry for the generations to come. I'm not so sure this globalization is good for anyone but business and industry.
If someone understands it, perhaps they would take the time to explain it to me. My eyes are to old to have to try to dig through all the information on the net about it, maybe someone could give me a good place to start to learn more about it. I feel it fits in with the topic of illegal immigration because it seems that is what many companies want, the unrestricted movement of people and goods.
I guess I'm thinking along the lines of the North American Union.
Serenity, you seem to know abit about "globalization". Would appreciate your comments on it.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/11/2007 12:37:26 AM | We have a very skewed view regarding poverty in the US.
In the US... poverty now means you have a family of 4 in a 2 bedroom house with a 7 to 9 year old car, 2 TV.s the kids have a Nintendo (or some other game box) and you have 250 channels worth of cable TV. They'll have running water, electricity and get to eat enough to get fat. Free emergency medical care at the local ER...
In the Phillipines you can see REAL poverty... a family of 6 living in a shack about the size of 3 refrigerator boxes... made of assorted scrap packing crates... the tiolet is the gutter in the street beside the "house". If they are lucky.. drinkable water is within half a mile. Forget electricity. No car. "Whats a TV?" A good week.. they get to eat one meal a day... A bad week... they might eat some rice on tuesday and friday. If you get sick you better pray someone takes pity... or you die.
Mexico's poverty level isn't quite as bad as the Philipines... in most cases.
Some areas of Africa... between war, poverty, famine and AIDS... the average life expectancy is down below 30... (far worse than the Phillipines....)
Just 50 years ago... it was considered NORMAL in the US for a famly to have the grandparents move in so they could be taken care of when they started to need the help... Now... we pawn em off to a rest home, becasue we can't be bothered... (and we can afford to get "the old coots" out of our hair...)
Yep.. the middle class is "dissapearing" in the US... we now call it poverty level.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/11/2007 1:14:25 AM | fredh,
We have poverty in the USA. People are living in horrible , run down apartments or nothing more than shacks,no electricity, no heat, no indoor plumbing, can't afford decent clothing or medical care. Many do go hungry in the USA, and food stamps if you qualify for them don't provide a feast no matter what you have heard to the contrary.
And what of our homeless, our street people living out of dumpsters and sleeping on the streets, or shelters, or in homeless camps ?
Granted things may not be as bad as in Africa, or some other 3rd world countries, but don't kid yourself, there is poverty in the USA.
As for putting our parents in nursing homes, hopefully your parents will never become inflicted with an illness such as senile dementia or one of the other devastating diseases of old age that makes it impossible for them to live at home with their loved ones. It's not an easy decision for everyone to put their parents in a nursing home.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/11/2007 1:54:47 AM | President Bush is attempting to regain face and boaster votes for the 2008 election with word service....Lets see if he actually acts...or if he is just pandering us.
White House takes lead on illegal immigration THE ASSOCIATED PRESS August 11, 2007
WASHINGTON - A crackdown on illegal immigration will have to go forward without help from Congress, the Bush administration said Friday, asserting that an executive-branch-only approach is better than doing nothing.
Two cabinet secretaries - Homeland Security's Michael Chertoff and Commerce's Carlos Gutierrez - said they had hoped to have new tools to combat illegal immigration. But Congress could not agree on comprehensive legislation.
The officials said they'll rely instead on tools already in their arsenal, some of which already are under way, including a plan for administrative sanctions on employers who hire illegal immigrants.
At a joint news conference, Chertoff and Gutierrez put the onus on Congress for any consequences that may be suffered by employers as result of the stepped-up enforcement effort.
"Our hope is that key elements of the Senate bill will see the light of day someday, but until Congress chooses to act, we are going to be taking some energetic steps of our own," Chertoff said.
The steps will "significantly strengthen our hand with respect to immigration enforcement."
The White House emphasized that its package of enforcement changes was all it could do under "existing law" - the same law that President George W. Bush has repeatedly called unacceptable.
Presidential spokeswoman Dana Perino said Bush has used his executive authority in the past to improve immigration enforcement, such as by strengthening border enforcement. She was pressed on why he hadn't made the changes already.
She said Bush held off while pushing Congress to pass the comprehensive bill. With that now sidelined, she said: "We're going as far as we possibly can without Congress acting."
Recognizing that the crackdown could hurt some industries - particularly agriculture, where more than half of workers are believed to be here illegally - Gutierrez said the Labor Department will try to make existing temporary seasonal agriculture worker and nonagriculture worker programs easier to use and more efficient.
In addition, Chertoff said he will try to raise fines by about 25 percent on employers for hiring illegal workers. Current fines are so modest some companies consider them a cost of doing business, the agency said.
Highlights of plan
WASHINGTON - Some tactics the Bush administration plans to use or has been using to beef up enforcement on immigration:
Hold employers liable for workers who have been notified of problems with their Social Security information and have not resolved them in 90 days.
Reduce the number of documents employers can accept to verify a worker's eligibility.
Prevent illegal immigrants who have agreed to leave the country from remaining in the country through legal maneuvers by making them subject to deportation if arrested and fining them $3,000.
Extend from one year to three the duration of a visa for professional workers from Canada and Mexico.
Require the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security to devise a way to prevent undocumented workers from earning credit in the Social Security system for work they've done while in the country illegally.
Expand lists of organized gangs from other nations whose members are barred from automatic U.S. entry.
Immigration Enforcement Highlights By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON
Highlights of tactics the Bush administration plans to use or has been using to beef up enforcement on immigration:
* Hold employers liable for employing workers who have been notified of problems with their Social Security information and have not resolved those problems in 90 days.
* Reduce the number of documents employers can accept to verify a worker's eligibility.
* Raise civil fines imposed on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants by about 25 percent.
* Prevent illegal immigrants who have agreed to leave the country from remaining in the country through legal maneuvers by making them subject to deportation if arrested and fining them $3,000.
* Direct the Labor Department to make changes to the H2A agricultural seasonal worker program so it is easier for farmers to use, provides them workers on time and protects workers' rights.
* Correct processing delays in the H2B program for hiring seasonal workers for the landscaping, hospitality and other industries.
* Extend from one year to three the duration of a visa for hiring professional workers from Canada and Mexico to attract more such workers to the U.S.
* Spend more money to speed up background checks on immigrants.
* Require the Social Security administration and Department of Homeland Security to devise a way to prevent undocumented workers from earning credit in the Social Security system for work they've done while in the country illegally.
* Expand lists of organized gangs from other nations whose members are barred from automatic entry to the United States.
* Continue to work on creating a system that will record the exit of foreigners from the country for air, land and sea ports.
* By Jan. 31, 2008, begin phasing in requirements for U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean to carry passports to re-enter the country at sea and land ports.
* Homeland Security Department will deliver "state of the border" reports regularly.

Funding was approved for over 800 miles of high security double fencing along the US Mexican border over a year ago... they haven't built 100 yards.
That should indicate how seriously our misrepresentatives in office are taking the issue.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/21/2007 7:06:02 AM | Mrs. Arellano, a Mexican national, was served with a deportation order in 1997 and a second order in August 2006. However, she chose to flaunt this order by seeking refuge in a Chicago church, daring ICE agents to raid the place of worship and drag her away.
She (and many other radicals) believed that because her son was an American citizen, she had the right to stay in this country. Thankfully, the courts and the law saw it a different way.
On August 19, Arellano was arrested by ICE agents in Los Angeles, where she had been campaigning for immigration "reform."
On August 20, she was deported to Mexico.
Bush has finally been forced to loosen his strangle hold on ICE and put forth some actual action in enforcing our laws.
We should all applaud the increased efforts of ICE to address the illegal situation.

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/21/2007 7:33:00 AM | Round them up and ship them back where they came from. How can it be a witch hunt when the law specifically states they are illegal? They have their own country. And I am so against the illegals coming here, having a kid, and the kid gets citizenship. Don't even play the separating Mom from kid card. That is as nutjob moonbat liberal as it gets. | |
|
| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/21/2007 7:55:38 AM | rSerenity, it is funny how you call the new immigrants "illegal immigrants", but when it comes to the Europeans, they are the "European INVADERS?" Are you BIASED a bit in your thinking?
We can't support the world. This Mexican invasion has greatly impacted this country. There are Americans who cannot even get jobs because if the ILLEGALS. There are AMERICANS in New Mexico that are picketing the streets to get rid of the illegals, because the AMERICANS CANNOT FIND JOBS due to the fact the ILLEGALS have them.
And by working for such low wages, they have ruined the earning capacity of the Americans. People are not able to get jobs here. It is really hard anymore. The illegals get hired because they work cheap. They live 3 families to a house. Is that the way we want to live here, because that is what will happen.
I work in the farm industry. I can go for days and almost never see an english speaking person. Can you tell me that Americans wouldn't want to work the farms? Free housing, alot of free food and milk? PERFECT JOBS FOR AMERICANS WHO DO NOT PLAN TO GO TO COLLEGE. These jobs are never put in the paper. The hispanics just get their cousin or brother to come and fill the opening. Also, with so many mexican nationals , an American would be harrassed in that inviroment I am sure. Remember, they are taught by their own government in their schools to HATE US!
Our culture is being changed by the illegals. OH YEA, IF YOU FOLLOW THE NEWS, THE MEXICANS HAVE MADE IT CLEAR THAT THEY INTEND TO TAKE THIS COUNTRY AWAY FROM US AND SEND US BACK TO EUROPE. DO THE AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE TO GO BACK TO AFRICA. SCAREY FOR THEM! (DARFOR) They started this by saying such aggressive things. My instinct is to fight back and protect the only home I have. See, they now have two countries. We have only one.
JOBS AMERICANS WON'T DO? Not true. I have been making a list of people who have lost their jobs to the illegals. These were people who actually worked those jobs that some say "Americans won't do" I have a question for all of you who believe this political rhetoric that was created by politicians, and some of you believed it. WHO WAS DOING THESE JOBS BEFORE THE ILLEGALS CAME?
Think about it. We have been propagandized by some powerful people. Billionaires perhaps who want to make a couple bucks more on their products (are they starving, cant they pay their bills?) instead of paying a living wage to FELLOW AMERICANS so that we can live a decent life too. TOO MUCH GREED FOR MONEY NOT ONLY HERE IN AMERICA, BUT AROUND THE WORLD.
If this keeps on, we will all be poor and looking for another country to go to, but uh oh, there will be no place to go. Once they get us down, we will probably never be able to recover. That is why the other poor countries stay poor. They can't beat the system.
But here, in America, we have our CONSTITUTION to protect us. We must keep it PURE. We must not let those LIBERAL JUDGES PERVERT OUR CONSTITUTION.
Oh by the way, Liberalism is what is ruining America. Everyone around me has noticed that people are getting angrier and angrier, no manners, CIVILITY IS BEING LOST HERE, WHY? Because liberalism teaches SELF. PLEASE ONES SELF. Narcissism.
When we were a more Christian nation, things were better, yes there were a few flaws, but those were corrected and it takes time for them to become reality. People were more respectful, more responsible for their own lives instead of this entitlment cradle to grave generation ofpeople. The Government is not your mommy and your daddy for life. The fact is, America tries to do good. This is a GREAT NATION!
Bottom line: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION CREATES ANARCHY. If some do not have to abide by the law, then others will not either.
ILLEGAL IIMMIGRATION perverts the job market and now AMERICANS ARE BECOMING POOR. I SEE IT HAPPENING RIGHT IN MY OWN NEIGHBORHOOD TO MY OWN PEOPLE.
WE MUST PROTECT OUR OWN PEOPLE IF THIS NATION IS TO SURVIVE AND BE AS GREAT AS IT HAS BEEN.
Assimilation: LEARN THE LANGUAGE. KEEP YOUR OWN CULTURE, YOUR ROOTS, AS LONG AS THEY DO NOT ANNOY OTHERS. (SUCH AS LOUD MUSIC) JUST BE RESPECTFUL. UNFORTUNATLY, SOME OF THEM HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO HATE THE AMERICANS. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!
In the Bible, it says, OBEY THE LAWS OF THE LAND. God does not approve of lawbreaking. Laws are created for a reason.
ITS A REAL PICKLE WERE IN, BUT IF WE THINK CLEARLY, AND LOOK AT THE FUTURE, HOW WILL IT IMPACT NOT ONLY OUR CHILDREN, BUT 7 GENERATIONS AHEAD, (lIKE THE NATIVE AMERICANS USED TO DO) WE WILL DO THE RIGHT THING.
God Bless Pray, its our only hope!

| Officially sanctioned witchhunt against illegal immigrants? Posted: 8/21/2007 8:07:35 AM | Illegal immigrant = criminal. A definition that is 100% true every time.
You aren't too familiar with the Criminal Justice system. You can't exactly put all criminals in the same classification. They have violated immigration laws. That's far different than someone who robbed a bank, molested a child, murdered someone...
In the criminal justice system there is a HUGE different between violent CRIMINALS and non-violent CRIMINALS.
And as far as Legal Immigrants - sure. Most of us here legally were lucky enough to be born here. To call any human being vermin for tresspassing into this country is plain stupid. Perhaps you should look in your history book as to how America was supposedly "founded".
That said, of course it's not *right* to allow illegal immigrants to stay here and I fully support them being deported back down to Mexico. But let INS handle that. I'd rather have our law enforcement spend time on people breaking our criminal code sections. If some illegal who is abiding every law except being here illegally, I could care less. I'd rather see law enforcement going after drug dealers, violent prone people, drunk drivers...you know, the people who are actually a THREAT?
Just because you're an illegal immigrant does NOT mean you are going to commit any other crime than being here illegal. You think citizenship automatically means the person is prone to stop committing crimes? That's laughable.
