mmm I would say it depends if they expect me to give up my babies then no way cause it means it's not love But and a big buuuuuuuuuuut If they can take medication and control it so it doesn't make them sick then I'd continue.

Heyitsdoug....you have said what it needed to be said...i have two dogs and a cat and i spoil them rotten love them to death...but it will never compare to "true love"...to explain my first cat...ran away...outdoor cat couldnt keep inside...i spent loads of money to fix his leg cause he got shot with a nail gun by constructors and when it all got better...gone he was...so to make it short as a man/woman can leave you or break your heart...so does an animal...they get killed, sick, lost etc...you can always run to the pet store or shelter and replace it...true love???? hmmmmm there isnt a store or shelter for that...
I can say over and over and over i agree with you on that one HeyItsdoug!!!

I got tired of reading all the responses so I hope this isn't redundant, but to me it seems that all those who are getting bashed for choosing their pets over the lover are trying to make the point that THE PERSON WOULD NEVER BE their LOVER IF they couldn't tolerate the pets in the first place so it is a mute point!!!
Being in an established relationship and THEN finding out that your S/O develops a severe allergy to your pets,.... NOW THAT is a difficult situation to have to choose. ( I'd think if it were your child it'd be a no brainer so why not your love of your life?)
My now ex ( nothing to do with pets) loved my cats when we were dating, when me moved in together we got two new kittens to go along with our new life and apartment,... two days later he was sleeping out on the balcony of the 16th floor freezing due to an inability to breathe, he's been allergic to cats ever since,... talk about bad timing. My Dad took the kittens,. no worries there but eventually we got married and never had cats ( the loves of my life) until we lived on an acreage ( they lived outdoors)so it was a compromise,........ HOWEVER, the day we SPLIT,...... I got two new kittens,....12 years later the cat is still loving me!

Oh, yes I'm also alergic to you mom & dad too...They've gotta' go...!
& your furniture & your car & your fish...& your clothes...

You have "pets" / they are trusting you to do the right thing for them... It would be like adopting a child that your NEW partner didn't want... Love & Acceptance is what we all want...
