blockers should be simultaneously blocked

.............................................................................................

My question is how to block someone who spammed me with an ad.

At the top it says the following:

This email was sent because you are within 10k of the event or are signed up to it. If you do not want emails like this disable party emails in your mail settings.

But there is nothing that says "party emails" on my mail settings page.

To block a specific User from contacting you again, go to your Inbox, open the E-Mail of the User in Question, at the bottom left click on the Block User Link. Below the Block User Link, at the very Bottom of any opened received E-Mail Message is also a Spam/Scam Report Link you can click to report that User for having sent you Spam and/or Scams.

There is no block user link in the email, and no spam/scam report link either. How do I block the spammer?

Why not just have a block function where you enter a username into a box and click block?

Good idea.

Yes there is:

Allow emails from Local Singles Events::

Party - Event ... same difference

They're not spammers - it's a feature of the site that allows you to know if POF Events/Partys are in your area - and that, you can turn OFF as in the above example.

This was not a singles event, it was an advertisement.

If this was simply a user sending you spam links, then Report them using the Reporting Procedures or also email me with the user name and approximate contents of what they were spamming.

The "missing block link" in an email when such a link is sent is a known bug - no ETA on that fix.

I got blocked for the first time today. I contacted a member he wrote back expressing interest and then Imed me with a "Kiss" . I wrote back asking if I could add him to my favorites and when I went to send it I found I was blocked....for no reason. I did want a rebuttal because this is not the first time I came across this kind of rudeness. Why express interest if you are not. Even with guys that Im me if I am not interests at least have the decency to respond back out of courtesy.

Judging by what you've recounted, I'd have to say you were mistakingly blocked (can't say for sure) but we've had an increasing frequency of such cases and I can see it happen easily with people who are unfamiliar with the IM program especially.

We're trying to have Admin perhaps look at a solution to this.

On the other hand, even if some people don't warrant it - some people would just rather block an individual rather than face an email confrontation of any sort - so they resort to the block.

I haven't been in this situation (Thank God) but this is a great idea, just from the standpoint of knowing that people are using this idea specifically to "Skirt" the website policy rules, by being able to say whatever they want with no possibility of retaliation...once they basically got to say whatever they wanted to say and the damage is done you could block them, but it's really too late since the idea is to maintain, as close to possible, a civil harmonious web community. I mean really...is there any reason you would want to send someone a msg AFTER you blocked them except to agitate/harass them?

I actually just had that happen to me! lol This one guy sends me a msg every few days and it's almost always a hit and run operation...one or two emails back and forth, then I don't hear from him again. It's kinda annoying actually cos he never has anything substantial to say...more just kidding around than anything.

Today, I had logged in to read the forums while taking a break from work and did not even check to see who was online...I got a message from him, read it and thought I had a few minutes to chat, so I shot him an email back, only to find he blocked me...so I kindly returned the favor!! I only started chatting to him a couple weeks ago, but the way I see it is if he gets his shorts in a knot after only a couple of weeks because I do not email him as soon as I get online, then it's his loss, not mine!!

Ok, I have a question....
What if someone is being rude and obnotious to you or others, in your thread, but have never sent you an email?
How the heck can you block them off your own thread in the forums?

Enquiring minds want to know.... Exspecialy after this happening only a few days ago......
