Get a REAL hockey Analyst who actually pays attention to the league and not the "Glory" days with his gay obsession with "eh, Bobby Orr!!"

cherry - well we all kinda know his way. and he's not about to change. if you dont like it, and cant change the channel for 2 minutes, and cant leave the room... too bad. he might only be around a couple more years anyway and then everybody can watch some boring clone talk between periods | |

I'm a huge NFL Fan. I would not find it entertaining when watching a pre-game show if Jimmy Johnson would go on about how great the Cowboys and Troy Aimen were.
Its the same thing with Cherry. Who cares if his dumb ass comments are entertaining!! Where are the REAL Hockey fans?? People want some real analogy to better their knowledge about the sport!! Don Cherry provides none of that and only talks about the Leafs and Bobby Orr!!

and he has sold the nfl fairly well-witness his video games drawing new fans-dare i say-you perhaps? you are 24? ...madden video game fan...maybe? probably--
well i remember watching lawrence taylor play and having madden talk about him-wow-never a better guy at selling the game.

A teacher I had back in high school was telling us how bad of a business man Don Cherry is and how stupid he actually is. In a very important business meeting they were disussing issues when they asked Don for his imput. Don of course wasn't even paying attention and waS staring at the ceiling.....they then asked him the same question and all he had to say was...."hey, that light up there is flickering" ....he is imposable to work with. He Truly is INSANE!! CBC hates him, they keep him on the air because the odd idiot Leafs fan thinks its entertaining to watch a crazy loud old man go ...."eh, Bobby Orr!!"
You can go to a mental institute or even jail and get the same kind of entertainment...without even having to put up with a **** brown noser like Ron Maclean. lol.

Don Cherry spoke about two contries that border one another and should have eachothers back through thick and thin.
When the Canadian Prime Minister wouldn't support The United States efforts, Don spoke harshly against his own government.
No holds bared talk against the Prime Minister and was embarrased to be a Canadian at the time, considering the Canadien Government was ran by a bunch of cowards.
I almost couldn't believe my ears, but my thoughts were that Don is a patriot and truley stands up for what he believes in.
This gave me even more respect for someone I grew up watching on TV.
As for being knowledgeable about a sport, he prabably has forgotten more than you will evr know................... | |

He is nationally recognized and he even came in in the top ten Canadians list the CBC had going a few years ago. He was #7 and beat out the likes of John A. McDonald, Alexander Graham Bell, and even the hockey god himself.... Wayne Gretzky.
The very fact that he has managed to get under the skin of some of the people here just goes to prove that he is doing his job. Of course Coach's Corner is pretty much a circus show, but it's fun to watch. Cherry says things meant to provoke controversy, it's what he does, and I have no doubt he enjoys it too. The fact that some are really ****ing about it in this thread just goes to prove that Cherry can still, inadvertently or otherwise, push people's buttons. And that's why the CBC keeps hanging on to him. He knows how to push people's buttons. | |

Well, it takes a hell of a lot more courage to NOT be cowed into going along with a bully into an ill-advised, knee-jerk invasion. Real life is NOT a John Wayne movie.
As for supporting the U.S., we supported them plenty in ways that really mattered. (or were you sleeping during those first few days after the WTC attacks, when Canadians opened their homes to thousands of stranded passengers?)
As for the U.S. always being there for us when WE needed them, how about the first 2-plus years of BOTH the first and second World Wars? Do a bit of reading, specifically; HISTORY. (and NOT "history" as written by Americans. Try some CANADIAN history books.) | |

Which seriously saddens me. What has Don Cherry ever done for our country, other than embarassing us?? Nothing but make our country look like a bunch of insane hockey hooligans!! Beating out the man who invented the telephone only proves how retarded our country is about hockey. That really is an embarassment, Don Cherry is a horrible, horrible influence on youth and the sport its self....but like it matters cause the only people who give a shit what he has to say...are people that don't matter!!
