| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 11/6/2007 2:02:13 PM | My screen name is "petitegamine".
"petite," because I'm barely 5' 3" and small-framed.
"gamine" has two dictionary definitions:
1/ a neglected girl who is left to run about the streets; a street urchin. I chose this particular word to describe myself in a self-deprecating vein. It reminded me how aimless and abandonned I felt at the beginning of my separation, when I left the marital home in response to my husband's infidelity.
2/ a diminutive or very slender girl, especially one who is pert, impudent, or playfully mischievous. This description was chosen to honor my style icon, Audrey Hepburn, who typified the gamine look. By the way, I have long hair and look nothing like her.
I hope to graduate to a more hopeful-sounding nickname after my divorce is finalized.

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 11/11/2007 4:05:57 PM | Just my birthday and nickname I use it almost everywhere, but someone told me they saw my nickname on a Lesbian site (it was my Match . com profile but either it MISTAKENLY stated I was a lesbian or it had me on their gay site). I tell ya, it made me do some soul searching! NOT ...I like dancing green 'nanas too much, LoL | |

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 11/13/2007 7:09:18 PM | I chose mine from my family history. Discovered I was of WELSH descendancy, and since the DRUIDS originated from Wales I chose Druid.
I also have started and tried to follow the path of the Druids. Kind of hard to do. I don't have much time to study and practice the path with work (US Customs Broker), school, and visitation with my sons.
64 is the year I was born in.
Merry Meet, Merry Part and Merry Meet Again.

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 12/14/2007 6:11:03 AM | And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack And you may find yourself in another part of the world And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife And you may ask yourself - Well... How did I get here?
And you may ask yourself How do I work this? And you may ask yourself Where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself This is not my beautiful house! And you may tell yourself This is not my beautiful wife! Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down Letting the days go by/water flowing underground Into the blue again/after the money's gone Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground. Same as it ever was...
'nuff said?
(And, thank you, David Byrne, for telling it like it is.)

LOL.. well it was "taken" but spit out other options.. Shende1923 was the first option of what I had no clue of.. I kept clicking away... LOL ....kind of stuck!!! LOL I still have a high respect for folks who are so witty and come up with great screen names!

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 12/21/2007 9:53:03 PM | | I use this nickname everywhere on the net. A sweet lady I took care of once called me a gentle spirit with a gentle heart. Mostly because I treat people as people no matter their color, nationality, disability, or sexual orientation. This sweet lady was in a wheel chair and she was impressed with me because I saw her and not her chair. | |

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 6/13/2008 2:24:18 PM | | My main nicknames are all chosen, and did not want the same nickname I use on other sites. So I just picked another thing people used to call me. It is pronounced like hedge but no d sound... I have two middle names, so I took my first 3 three initials. | |

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 6/13/2008 3:27:49 PM | 2 1/2 years ago I uprooted and transplanted in Texas. Thought it would also make it easier on "Texans" searching to realize Im not Texas born, just transplanted. (since it seems some don't like us "outsiders" and makes us undateable) | |

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 6/14/2008 8:47:50 AM | When I first signed up I wasn't home in Texas, but wanted to convey that I am a native Texan (and was planning on coming home - which I have now done WOOHOO). So that's the second half of the name.
I have never been accused of being a lady (I have proper manners and such, just don't fit the prim and proper image "Lady" implies) And Woman Texan just didn't flow well. I am a girl at heart and take no offense at the word itself (sometimes the tone but never the word :)
So GirlTexan it is. | |

| Why or How Did You Choose Your Nickname Posted: 6/15/2008 9:50:52 AM | I've been Wisteria since I first started online over 10 years ago. I have met people online who have become good friends off and they will still sometimes slip and call me Wisty. Over the years it's become a second name.
Wisterias are beautiful flowering vines. They have an incredibly sweet fragrance that surrounds and draws you to them. They like a strong, solid support next to them; in the proper environment they flourish with alacrity. Care needs to be taken though, or you could find yourself totally entwined with them.
