The restaurant and buffet downstairs are completly different then the Winners lounge upstairs. If you have reservations for the buffet downstairs that is the only place its good for.During the Christmas Season , the lounge upstairs does a buffet for private parties ( eg. a business work party )and must be booked in advance. Those people are already using the tables in the lounge for their function so if they choose to stay later and stay for the band they will get first dibs.Celtic_spice and I went last year on a evening when this was going on , the bar area was packed and it was standing room only with " regular" patrons wanting to get tables after the people with reservations were leaving. We had gotten there around 7 Pm not knowing this was all going on , instead of the place empting out..it just got busier...lol.I am sure if your there downstairs and want to go up there will be no trouble in doing so .People just have to be aware of how busy Newlands will be every weekend now till after New Years and understand if not everyone can get in, can get a table , and that the bar will be extremly busy so there will be waits. Its nice to see some many folks who enjoy Newlands..its a great venue.

I believe that the upstairs does their own buffet and those people will have priority seating for the band when it starts

Maybe I won't come......there are less then 10 men coming out of 64 people, considering this site have 2 times the amount of men as women, that's a pretty pathetic turn out! Cummon Men, grab some cahongas and get out for the night and dance! Sheesh! Apathy is very unattractive, the woman won't just drop by your front door!

Newlands is always full of men and men tend to sign up later to events so don't worry about numbers, they are almost always pretty even!

I'm considering coming... I'm a PoF event virgin!

That being said - it is the logistics that will determine whether or not I can make it.

I live in Chilliwack, but have no transportation... any kind fishies in my neighborhood willing to give me a lift! I'd be more than happy to fill your tank!

I don't really care which night, although the 23rd is a week away from my 36th b-day... and since I'm literally doing nothing for Christmas, my birthday and New Years at this point, I'd welcome the chance to mingle with some company. I dearly love my kitten, but she does't speak english and our conversation are starting to wear thin! I

Thanks in advance for any help...

As the time draws closer and closer , has anyone officially found out if this event is still happening? Has Newlands contacted anyone in regaurds to having the reservations made and for how many? I am still considering it, but don't want to sign up in case the venue has to be changed etc.If anyone has heard one way or another please keep us informed .Thank you .

Teri,

If you come across any information please send it this way. I'll be travelling from from Chilliwack as well and need to secure apres party accomodation as I don't think there will be any public transportation available to get me home after the lights come up!

I was planning on the Saturday, but I'm flexible!

come because you want to have a good time, meet FRIENDS, enjoy the band and dance the night away... not because of the number of the opposite sex that plan to attend!

We called today to make our reservations for the Saturday night... should be a great night! cant wait!

I'm thinking about going on both the friday and the saturday, seeing that I live in Aldergrove. I'm going to try to go in to Newlands before the beginning of december, weather permitting, to find out what's going on. If the dinner seating is downstairs, and the band is upstairs, in the lounge, I can go to the lounge early, people can give me their jackets who are planning on sitting upstairs in the lounge and I can put them on some chairs, and I can have my dinner over there. It might be rather awkward if I'm sitting there with a hundred jackets though, so maybe this would be an idea for some other people as well. But I don't know, I'll go see if I can find out what's going on.

Hey, diogi, if you can get a ride to Aldergrove you're welcome to hang out with us before or after the party. I have a hide-a-bed so you can crash here as well.

just an FYI:

I just spoke with Linda from Newlands... she clarified that there isnt a seafood or prime rib buffet but a Seasonal Christmas Buffet... and its banquet style . There is a $200 deposit for rsvps which includes lounge guests. She basically multiplied 6 guests (my 6 rsvps) X $39.47= $236.82 ... and thats what I wouldve had to charge on my credit card.

I read off the info we had on the site, and she said she was concerned because looking at her resveration book, there were large parties (banquet groups) that rsvp'd but she couldnt see anything regarding "POF" groups or smaller groups. I mentioned others would have made smaller individual rsvps... she said she didnt see any.

She said there had been many calls regarding information on that night because March Hare is playing... she said it would be a good idea to get a group sitting under Plentyoffish... but Im not sure who would be interested taking on the responsiblity because of the deposit.

I just signed up on POF this week and this looks like a good event to start out with. What's with the Friday Dec 22nd and Sat Dec 23rd? Does that mean this is a two day event or are then different groups going each day? Thanks Sherry

It sounds like everyone is basically on their own Fizzy setting this up for themselves. If I am not mistaken its really not a official POF event , but folks from POF reserving their own tables and meeting up there together . When it was first posted Big and Tall and Scorpio were going to host it , but as time goes on and no reservations have been made with Newlands ...there will not be room for a huge group to go there and sit together. That time of the year is very busy for Newlands with company Christmas Partys going on etc. Its pretty tough to know with the weather , personal family commitments , etc. just how many will really be able to show up that close to Christmas. Of course by the time this is posted everything could be changed and once again I am out of the information loop. So the best bet would be to get in touch with the orginal poster and clear up any confussion..LOL Just my two pennies worth :)

The hosts tried to reserve for a large group but Newlands would not accept reservations without all people having dinner! If we reserved for everyone it would be way too much risk and the cost would be somewhere around $3000.00 with no way of collecting...That is why the post says "Make your own reservations"

Is anyone surprized that with people waffling about "IF" they can go, that the hosts don't want to risk over $3,000.00 on a MAYBE?????????

It is still an official event but the club made it difficult by the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. The club was reserving for downstairs for some and upstairs for others!
I don't think there is any confusion in the header, all we have to do is read it!

I finally got all the info from the club 3 weeks after my first request and had to follow up 3 times to get it, being sent from one person to the next. If anyone needs clarification on ANY detail, please ask me in a pm!

Thank you for clarifing a few things Big And Tall . I am sure its not easy to arrange something this big at this time of the year. Your right about not wanting to put down such a large ammount of money without people knowing for sure if there plans will change or not. With so many activities , weather etc. it seems this time of year we all have days our limbs don't know what the others are doing..lol. Newlands ( Winners Lounge ) do a terrific job of decortating etc. and it is a beautiful venue any time of the year to get together with friends:) Thank you for all the effort it takes to keep on top of ever changing details.
