Seems to me the only problem he really had was an honesty issue. Look the last 3 guys i have gone out with have been my height or only 1 or 2 inches taller. I doubt she could answer whether she would have considered him if he had stated his height honestly in his profile. Such decisions are emotional moments not PC checklists and what enters in such feelings is not well defined. It is clear the dishonesty was not much of a problem and possibly led to positive results but that his height was very noticable after he got past the screening on false pretenses. From your answer, it would appear honesty was not really important to you either. How many of the 3 guys had accurately stated their height? Do you really think it is height of concern to me or the priorities of women? It seems quite clear, height is more important than honesty. This thread makes that very clear indeed. | |

As for the honesty of the gentleman my height i dated.. i didnt meet them on a bloody dating site. I met them in my town. I saw them, before i got to know them and found them attractive. There height did NOT make a difference. | |

Posted: 11/15/2006 1:45:29 AM | Dave, I would have dated him had I known his height before hand. It was not a problem, he was one inch taller than me maybe, which was ok because we fit together good. I do prefer my man be alittle taller than me, but it is not a requirement. Alot of men lie about their height, but it is an ego thing I guess. Height does not make man who he is, neither does hair, or eye color or build or how much he has in the bank. Not in my opinion anyway.Not all women want a 6 ft tall gq model with bulging biceps. Yes they are nice to look at, but not what really matters to me anyway. I look for what is inside, the heart, the eyes, the personality, the sense of humor, and how he treats me. Just like men don't always want the blue eyed blondie dumb as a rock. Sometimes men want a woman of substance, who can hold an intellligent conversation, who can hold your attention with the mind, instead of other things that lie 10 inches below the neckline. Some men like short hair, some like long hair, red hair, blonde hair, dark hair, tall women, short women. Would all men immediately turn a woman away because she didn't fit your image of the perfect mate? He may pass up the best thing that ever happened to him, but didn't give them the chance because they didn't meet a certain requirement. I don't think height is that important, but I have been verticaly challenged all my life, so if I get handed lemons I just say pass the sugar please. I'm going to make some lemonade, Y'all want a glass?

Alot of men lie about their height, but it is an ego thing I guess.
I mean, is it really an "ego" thing? I don't think most men care one way or another. But men know that a lot of women have "height requirements". Therefore, they expand their pool by lying about their height. I think it's more of a matter of being practical than anything else.
I think it's wrong to lie about any of that stuff. But no one lie is worse than another. | |

I tell ya I'm 6' you see me with shoes,you say I wasn't honest cuz I added 1 inch cuz I wear shoes....Oh my what an difference a inch makes...(No pun intended! | |

From the bulk of the posts here, when a man's height is compared to his honesty, height wins hands down! Your comparison with men you did not meet from a dating site is not valid since you were not deciding based on posted data. It would appear that lying about height is expected and pretty much taken for granted. How can honesty be valued when dishonesty is rationalized away as some sort of ego issue and rewarded? Very few stats are listed on POF and it seems lying about most of them is all too common. The men aren't lying about their height to make them feel taller any more than women lie about their age to feel younger. It is "to get their foot in the door" and meet someone in person. In the dating site environment, honesty is a punishable offense. | |
