| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/3/2008 9:19:54 PM | | I had been thinking about purchasing a gun and taking classes and hanging out at the gun range myself so I too wondered how would men feel about this and after reading all the replies, I feel more confident about my choices now. | |

actually, it doesn't make one iota's worth of difference whether or not you pack heat.

do i have guns? maybe, maybe not. you'll have to find out! more to the point, how steady is my aim...and how good is my shot...i might be deadly... lol!!!!

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/3/2008 9:50:31 PM | LOL... non issue... I'm in Texas... at least 80% of the women I've dated owned their own gun.
The only time it was an issue was when an ex pulled a gun on me...

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/4/2008 1:52:04 AM | Hmmm...Funny question...
I have a friend here on POF and she is a cop...
I'm sure she carries more than one....
I adore her, and the fact that she carries a gun, or is a law enforcement officer means nothing to me....
Actually, I feel that if I were in a relationship with her, I would feel a bit more secure and protected...
Hmmm...Is this just the mans job???
My friend, my only fiend who is a cop, comforts me....
And my many women friends who carry guns, consoles me, for I know I don't have to waste my spiritual energy worrying about their safety; although I always do, and will..
No problem here...
Personally, I don't like guns..I can do enough damage without one....
God Bless, Scott. | |

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/4/2008 4:51:10 AM | Angelina Jolie-Pitt...even married, she's the hottest pistol-packing mamma to walk the face of the earth since Raquel Welch carried one.
Let's face it, who in their right mind would refuse HER just because of her gun collection??

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/4/2008 6:11:40 AM | Hummm interesting question. I`ll be interested in the end of the thread.. I think all women should know how to fire a pistol and safe handling of the weapon. | |
|
| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/4/2008 7:12:32 AM | broken, I personally think EVERYONE should know how to. I understand you don't wanna own em, carry em, whatever, but one should know the 4 basic rules.
I have a feeling that we're gonna see a lot more people carrying soon. Since handgun bans are now illegal, they're going to be a bit more normalized again. And since people who like guns, but never had the option to carry before will soon gain it, more people will.

dayum...so all those rumors about texas are true!!!!!! Yup. ... uh.. no. Wait, what have you heard??
I didn't bother reading the whole thread... I'm sure this has already been said.. Most of the women I've met/been exposed to are great shots. My mother would take a few practice shots every 10 years or so... always bulls eyes... I thought it was because she had her own gun and was just familiar with it (An old Star .380). She picked up a GP-100 I used to have and popped off a string of bulls eyes with it... My second wife was the same way...
The un-nerving part is that any time I would set up an Anatomy Man target every woman I've gone shooting with has ALWAYS aimed for the groin...

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/6/2008 6:00:15 PM | Hrm...I would be fine with it except for the whole "hormonally induced emotion storm" that msot women have to deal with.

EDIT: Joking, jsut to clarify :p gun's are illegal up here anyway.

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/7/2008 11:17:27 AM | Rubytyr1- guns aren't illegal in Canada, you just have to have a permit for them. Canada's permit system is thorough and dang near comprehensive...and then there is the Choice of the Type of Gun you want. Of course almost everything that can hold more than 10 rounds is banned, but there are plenty of hunting rifles, shotguns, revolvers & semi-auto pistols available.
If you have to worry about your woman's hormonal anger, you haven't kissed enough bootay!!

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/8/2008 8:53:44 PM | | For myself there are very few deal breakers. Drugs, Smoking, and Guns. Hearing of the numbers of people injured by guns by loved one's and seeing the movie American Gun are enough to set this believe pretty strongly in my mind. Playing role reversal would you not be nervous if a guy you were seeing has the gun and it was obviously not part of his occupation? | |

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/8/2008 9:59:05 PM | Basing your opinion on a MOVIE?? C'mon, laddie, get out of the city and USE YER HEAD! Would it make you feel better if you heard about the amount of people NOT HURT by a gun?? And if you want to talk about movies, let's try Friday the 13th...would you be afraid of the average shovel??? Jason sure showed how it could be used as a lethal weapon, you just need a nice sharp edge on it...
Spend a day at a shooting range, learn proper safety proceedures and what proper gun ownership is all about...THEN make an informed decision.

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/8/2008 10:05:39 PM | I'm on a first date last year, going to a Braves game. As we are walking in, my date, a buxom, unnatural red-head with the most beautiful six-pack ever built, turns to me and asks, "Will they check my purse?"
I nod and see a slight crimson tint to her face. She bends over and says, "I have a gun in my purse."
I laughed and took her by the hand back to the car. She pulled out a .357!
I wasn't fearful, I was impressed!

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/9/2008 5:45:24 AM | Shrek, you may be interested to know. I was having a conversation with a few other truckers yesterday and we were on the subject of guns. A few more came up and started running their mouths about the subject saying how wrong we were.
EVERY SINGLE POINT they made, I brought up the truth on the ole laptop and showed it to em. They were dead wrong everytime and just SHOCKED that their liberal, whiny, fearful of everyone cohorts had lied to them. I may have planted some serious seeds.

If a woman owns a gun, how long should she wait to tell a man that she has a gun?
IMHO...the sooner the better, so I can include going to the range as one of the activities we can do together. Possibly have her come with me to some IDPA shoots.

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/9/2008 7:29:12 AM | | I won't date a woman unless it is for her profession like a cop, soldier, etc. Even still it is best not to have it around. If a woman has a gun she should tell me right away if she with holds that information then I'm gone. | |

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/9/2008 7:59:18 AM | I'm amazed that you found truckers that were liberals, much less not toting a pistol themselves...
I've noticed that there are many people who don't have experience with guns and they are actualy afraid of them. I can sort of understand why, but it's like they are speaking another language...Example: I took one of my ex-gf's to an indoor pistol range at her request (she wanted to see what I was spending massive amounts of time on) and I took one of my 9mm semi-auto pistols...spent some time teaching her the basics at the bench and then helped her to aim properly & dry fire a few times just to make sure she was doing everything properly. I then loaded a full clip of 15 and gave it back. She fired ONE SHOT...and then burst into tears. At first I thought she had placed her hand wrong or something but a quick search showed no injuries...it turned out that to her, The Power of the Gun scared the heck out of her. I found it odd that a Dominant personality like hers would be afraid of anything powerful, but there it was.
Yes, a gun is a tool that is capable of great destruction. No, you shouldn't inherently be afraid of it, but one SHOULD respect what that tool can do...much like a chainsaw, if you play around with it, it'll eventually bite you. Much like a samurai sword, never remove it from it's case unless you intend to kill something or practice with it in the proper manner.

I'm amazed that you found truckers that were liberals, much less not toting a pistol themselves... Humph.... Me too... I've never met a trucker that didn't carry... but then I haven't met every trucker either.
After 9-11 I spent quite a bit of time on USENET and... when not discussing America's meddling in the middle east, usually ended up discussing American's love of guns and destruction... It was quite depressing and frustrating to try to explain WHY I would want to own a gun, especially knowing that it didn't matter what I said or how... it always got the same ridiculous reponses... nothing but contempt from Europeans that blamed America for everything wrong in the world... One thing came to really despise in that time... argueing with Germans.... pompous b*atards....
The really funny thing is that, living relatively close to the Dallas area, I've met quite a few Europeans and Canadians that have moved to the the US. The first thing they do once they're settled in? Buy a butt load of guns and take up target shooting... .... boggles the mind.... I met one German couple at the range years ago... they had taken up competition shooting and both of them were pegging golf balls EVERY shot... at 50 yards with Colt 1911's... They were nothing compared to the Texas Ranger I met out there that was shooting -3" groups at 100 yards with his custom 1911 38 Super... I packed my crap and left....
Anyway... I know it's just cultural differences... but I truly cannot understand why gun ownership.... male or female... is even threadworthy... In my experiance, people who are afraid of guns or gun ownership are much more rare than people who own guns and think nothing of it... it's just a tool... like a weedeater...

| How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN? Posted: 7/10/2008 5:59:25 AM | Heck, I woulda taken the time to ask them how they got so good and learned a few things :)
"Quick & Fancy Revolver Shooting"- should be the FIRST gun book anyone ever owns.
Trick shooting is nothing more than heavily practiced shooting...consistancy is the KEY!
