How would you feel about a WOMAN with a GUN?

v
.

The cute young lady detective I mentioned back in post 494 actually challenged me (for beers) to an outside shoot. She had to make her qualification, punching holes in paper. So, I came and tried to match her one for one.

Problem is, she’s probably a better target shooter than I am -- because I’ve never had great vision. Anyway, she qualified easily, without a hitch. And, really, the only reason I stood a chance with her shooting was because I had my trusty old Glock 17 with me and she had to use a police issue Glock 10.

Nonetheless, we were just too close and the buying of the beer was not yet a firm deal. So, I asked her to wander over to the other side of the range where I knew damn well that I had a much better advantage.

I practice combat shooting, not necessarily target shooting. So, when we shot the pop-ups, it was clear who would be buying beer that evening.

The point was realized and made to the young lady, after she bought a couple pitchers! Targets are stationary. Perps move, and sometimes shoot while moving. The situation can become like a war zone and requires practice in combat shooting. (I was a cop during the Detroit riots) The SWAT team may come, but someone needs to know how to shoot in the interim.

Most of my life as a cop was as a peace officer walking on the street. Yeah, I had a gun, but it only came out for practice. It was my neighborhood, I knew all the languages there, and almost everyone was my friend. Unfortunately, policing ain’t like that anymore. Later, after I was in the Army, everything changed for the worse. I was a leader of men during the riots, and some of that was like Vietnam again. Later, I quit that policing stuff and dedicated myself to science.

Nonetheless, I still carry a handgun most times. Not everywhere, anymore. But, there have been times when it has come in handy.

For instance, I was in a large market after midnight when I came onto an isle and noticed three inner-city types brandishing a shiny handgun at the casher. Not being anyone special in the law enforcement scheme, I stood back and watched. And, I took my Glock out of my winter coat and put it in the kiddy basket where it was at the ready.

Stupid me never cared about my cell phone. And, the stupid woman I didn’t notice behind me obviously never cared about her gun!

As soon as I put the Glock in my basket, there was a black female hand in my face holding a Detroit Police officer’s badge. Yep, right in my nose, it was. . . . Be quiet, she told me.

She asked: “Are you an officer?” Being 20 years past the age, I just chuckled a lot. Anyway, she was police, I was citizen, it was my city, not her’s, so I worked her phone and she worked my gun.

No one got shot, but she was obviously willing.

That sharp gal was commended by two cities for her actions that night. We will not say that she used my gun, because she didn’t take hers to market that night. No shots were fired, so the police didn’t confiscate any guns -- except from the perps.

Doesn’t matter anyway. I have an open invitation for any police officer to beat me in combat shooting. Some can, I believe, but they haven’t bothered to contract me yet.

Nobody should have a gun, then again i live in England where we are not allowed them anyway. The thing is it only takes a bad mood and an over-reaction to use the thing. I wouldn't want a gun anywhere near me, not if anyone had one, women, friend, anyone. Would make me uneasy!

Glock 10
I'd hope she had trouble qualifying with a luxury computer chair support.

Gaston Glock was a luxury furniture maker (still is actually, as a hobby) before he made his first gun, the Glock 17, then his second, the full auto version of it, called the Glock 18, then he made a compact version called the Glock 19. 20 models later he's the number one handgun maker in the world.

It's called the G17 because it was his 17th patent. His previous 16 were furniture and furniture manufacturing tools.

How do you feel about women with guns? If a woman owns a gun, how long should she wait to tell a man that she has a gun?

Why would she need to mention it ever in just casual conversation? Unless the topic came up, why mention it?

How would I feel? Depends if she just owned a gun or if she actually knew hire to use it. Owning a firearm and never learning about it or using it is foolish. Educating yourself and becoming more comfortable with it is a good thing.

If you have a bad temper and/or are prone to violence, then owning a gun is crazy! But in the USA where we more guns that people (probably?), I think it is good to own one for your own protection. We can outlaw guns tomorrow and it would only effect the law abiding citizens. Criminals will always have guns and as long as they are well armed, I would like to be as well.

I have a carry permit and always have a gun on me. I have several at home. I was raised with guns since my father was a Marine, did MP duty in the Pacific war, and was an NRA instructor. This may not sound romantic, but I'd go to the gun range with the lady if she wanted to even on the first date. I know so few women who have guns and even fewer that would go shoot with me that I'd love it if she told me the first time we talked.

It's hard to get the actual statistic on this, but I heard that when it comes down to it, women are more likely to use firearms when pressed than men. Also homes with guns are more likely to have domestic violence turn lethal. I ain't saying non-lethal domestic violence is ok, but guns make it really easy to do a lot of damage even when you wish you hadn't. With a knife you gotta get close and swing, you end up with blood on your hands, with a gun you could be standing across the room and all you gotta do is pull the trigger.

And in homes where no one owns a firearm, it's a great way to die during a home invasion.

Guns do NOT make people more likely to turn violent. Quite the opposite for most people actually. Carrying one tends to have a bit of a calming effect because you're infinitely more aware of the consequences of escalation.

Violence prone people are violence prone people, and when they lose their temper, they will try to hurt you, gun or not. And that's when having a gun is a solution, not a problem. You just make sure you're the one holding it.

You are obviously well conditioned by your government.

Maybe someday you can overcome this handicap.

Machiavelli said that being un-armed can cause you to become hated, among other things.

if wearing a vest to a date was a requirement, it might be a bit more fun.

I would be really attracted to a woman who would make me "dance" if I got out of line.

There's a lot to be said for a mutual body-armour peeling off session...

Also nifty uses for the handcuffs...

It also tends to help if yer gal is built like Leslie Easterbrook with red hair...

One of the sexiest dates I've ever been on, I'd been in training all day wearing armor, full gear, I'd shot over 1,250 rounds of 5.56 and over 400 of .45. It was 90 degrees by 9:30 and when we quit at 8:45 that night, it was still over 95. I don't wanna know how hot it was in the un a/c'd kill house.

There was a sheriff's deputy there. She was absolutely SMOKIN. As we discovered that night, we had adjoining hotel rooms. We were both to tired to take off our gear before we got back to the rooms except for casing our weapons. That night shoulda been about cleaning our weapons and rest. But it turned into a mutual body-armour peeling off session (with a shower obviously lol) I'm thinking I won't repeat my luck though at the two schools I'm going to this year or next year at TR

Im sorry stupid question - never expose the only thing that could save your life in an emergency & certainly know how to use it deadly accurate if necessary.

Personally I feel quite safe cause I am very accurate thanks to my sisters dad who was a special ops man in nam putting guns in my hand at 3. I think more women need to experience the harshness of war time to get this drift. Its about survival ladies.

And for the gun haters let me give you Ben Franklin:

People who are willing to give up freedom for the sake of short term security deserve neither freedom nor security

Strangely enough, there are people in rural communities that will condition their children from an early age...

Altho I'm glad my dad started me out with martial arts at age 3, instead of guns...
