| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 10:35:46 AM | | It'll be 5 years in June for me since I quit. I don't think I'd go out with someone who smokes, I really don't know, the opportunity hasn't come up yet. I still have friends that smoke, it doesn't bother me. I still have ashtrays at my place for when people visit. | |
|
| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 11:17:58 AM | | I only smoke when I'm on fire. | |

What business does the government have telling a business owner to which law abiding citizens he can cater to or not? If you don't like cigarette smoke don't go to a bar that allows it. Denying bar owners the right to chose their own clientele is, however unhealthy for the cigaphobes that feel they have to go to a bar, entirely self serving and un-American.

| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 2:03:17 PM | I don't let anyone smoke in my house because I'm a doll maker and I can't let my work smell like smoke. Plus, I don't want my house or my clothes to smell like cigarettes. Otherwise, I don't say anything to anyone who wants to smoke around me if we're somewhere else. | |

| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 4:21:39 PM | | Well tera you kinda made a good point. but when sex goes on for the entire night when should you go for the cig break or should I say you might have the cig when I nibble on the cookie lol. | |

| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 5:28:01 PM | as for legislation..smoking is one of the few things we do that effects other people's health..that's why they make rules like "no smoking in bars". It's an equivalent to "don't drink and drive". Anything that effects others negatively is open game for legislation.
Personally i dont smoke, but i live in quebec and everyone smokes here. I don't allow it in my house, but i don't say anything when i am at a smoker's house either...none of my business.
i wouldnt date a smoker...but i'd have sex with one if she was hot enough. needless to say...i've had sex with alot of smokers, but been single almost 8 years.lol
oh...and i'm a respiratory therapist, so i know the legislation and health aspects of smoking very well.
|
| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 5:29:48 PM | a respiratory therapist with a s/n of chong... huh... | |

the "cheech" thing is an old nickname...more sarcastic than anything...i've never done any drugs at all...never even smoked...too smart for that

St. Catharines has been about 2 years now. I quite like it. Some places have found loopholes. My buddy and I went to a gentleman's club that we'd never visited before - we had to pay a few bucks to become "members of a private club."
I was down in Virginia a few months ago and hadn't been in a smoking bar for a long time. Wow, what a difference. I'm glad I can go out and breathe freely here.

| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 9:50:14 PM | | It's common knowledge that alcohol isn't exactly the best intoxicant to have legalized lol... can't wait for the canadian red leaf to turn green ;) | |

|
| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 10:14:12 PM | ok well they're not going to legalize it in the near future... which would entail government distribution and taxation and then yeah, it would be weak & expensive (just imagine though... "yeah, a bottle of 7-Up, a pack of Export gold, and a half-o")
what they're proposing is decriminalization, which would just mean if you were caught with a small amount there'd be nothing. Lol my life wouldn't exactly change a whole lot since it's not like I grow or anything
|
| non smokers Posted: 3/28/2005 10:17:05 PM | | lol half o $500 later | |

| non smokers Posted: 4/7/2005 3:26:35 PM | Funny joke....A guy is at a party and lights a cigarette. A woman comes over and says, "Sir, if you don't mind there's no smoking in here. He looks at her, takes a puff , and says, "I don't mind". lol Then she says, "You know second hand smoke is worse that actual smoking". He takes another puff looks at her and says, "Well I guess I made the right choice". lol
I grew up around smokers so it doesn't bother me that someone smokes. I still can't decide tho which is worse cigarette breath or alcohol breath.

| non smokers Posted: 4/7/2005 10:25:17 PM | i find it so funny when smokers try to rationalize it by saying stupid things like "well, alcohol is bad for you too". alcohol is physically bad for the person consuming it, not everyone around them like smoking is. oh and before you pull out the old "well, if you drive when you're drunk you could harm others" keep in mind that driving drunk is illegal just as smoking is now illegal in public here, so it seems that the laws are actually very consistant if you are intelligent enough to analyze them properly.
fact is, just as there is no valid rational reason to drink and drive, there is also no valid rational reason to expose others to your smoke. Being an addict is no excuse to harm others.
In smokers' defense, i dont think the government does anywhere near enough to support smokers when they do want to quit. If you are a drunk or a heroine addict, you can get as much help as you want..all free....but mokers can't even get the patch for a reasonable price.
|
| non smokers Posted: 4/8/2005 6:33:28 AM | | Being an alcoholic makes it bad for everyone around them. It's hurts them their family and friends. I'd rather be around a smoker and breath the nasty air than to be around an alcoholic anyday. Why is the air I breath from a cigeratte any worse than the polution from cars, factories, a BBQ grill or a fireplace. The polution is in the air altho you can't see it it's there. | |
