| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 5/31/2008 5:35:05 PM | And you have met all cops everywhere thats amazing you really get around but how come I never saw you when I was a beat cop? I am not corrupt so please explain your experience with ALL COPS.
Freakin people what is so hard with limiting yourselves to factual statements like a better way to say it is "my only involvement with the cops was that those that I met were corrupt." that at least will limit your statement to the general realm of probability then we could get to the whole ok how are they corrupt deal.
OMFG and your profile is a quote from mother teresa no less "if you judge people you have no time to love them" Oh the sweet Hypocrisy.
People if your going to place a quote in your profile at least pretend to ohhhhh i dont know....... follow it or something.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/1/2008 1:22:21 AM | Because todays police officers are nothing more than trained and professional liars. All they do is minipulate people. Ok for example. Say your riding along in a car with 6 people total in the car. Cops pull the car over(most of the time for no reason). Cops find a joint laying in the floor of the car. First thing they do is seperate everyone. Then question each and everyone seperatly. Then the next thing they do is the cops start lieing telling each and everyone that was in the car that all the others said it was theirs. So Cops lie. They lie in the court room. They lie to everyone. The best way to tell when a cop is lieing is if you see their mouth move then you know they are lieing. A man an a woman can have an argument and then some cop caller neighbor will call the cops and then the cops show up. Then start becoming a bullie like most are. Yes there very powerful people with their guns and they come in groups. Then they figure out how to arrest the male. Then after the Male is succure behind bars then they show back up at the guys house trying to as they call it "comfort the poor woman" But really they trying to get down the womans pants. I have heard this one a dozen times, from a dozen different men and women. Bottom line is,they make examples of some people and turn a blind eye on others. they also do not live by the laws they enforce. I would LOVE for there to be a nation wide serch warrent to serch law enforcements houses. INCLUDING THE ~OP~ and I would bet that close to 100% of them would have property in their homes that was confiscated from house's they serched. THEIFS,LIARS,CHEATS,NATIONS BIGGIST CRIMINALS, COPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I would guess there's about 1 in 5 that doesn't fit this discription. | |

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/1/2008 3:55:34 PM | Guy4theforums are you seriously that mentally inept? I take the tone because you just insulted me and those I know by calling me and those I know liars, thieves, cheats, and the nations biggest criminals and you never met me but you prejudge my entire profession. I could say the same thing about CAR MECHANICS how many stories have we heard about car mechanics ripping customers off over charging or doing unneeded repairs. Now do I go and say that ALL Mechanics are scam artists? No I dont because that would be the height of ignorance. I dont know all mechanics in my area and luckely most I have met were good people, the few who were not didnt make me hate the entire profession.
I love how you make the blanket statement that close to 100% of all cops have siezed property in thier homes ,thats just freakin genius, and you know this how? Have you been in every police officers home? have you been in five police officers homes? hows about one? Genius..... pure genius.
What you described the cop doing, with the joint in the car, is called witness innterrogation, and you know what? it works every time and the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a police officers ability to do that. Can a cop legaly lie in court HELL NO. If he lacks the moral character and does so, if found out, HE WILL LOSE his badge and may end up in jail for filing a false official statement. Its called moral tupitude Police officers are one of only several professions were any sign of moral turpitude is cause for termination. Now like any profession its up to that department to enforce it. Now suspects lie on the stand all the time and some get off, but hey thats the way the justice system works. But a criminal being a criminal will get caught again hopefully though it isnt after having committed a murder.
If your family member was missing, hurt, attacked, home vandalised, shop broken into, car stolen, or anything else you will be the first to call the cops and you know what thats rightly so, because thats our job. But my job isnt to put up with anyones attitude. As someone pointed out earlier respect is a two way street. I freely give it out to anyone I come into contact with, but come at me crazy and I will flip the script in a heart beat.
Oh and by the way if there are 6 people in a car you can bet I will pull them over because most cars only seat five with a seat belt. You didnt say mini van or suv so I am assuming that your refering to a standard passenger vehicle.
Sorry had to add who is the genius that said I HAD to respect them because thier taxs pay my salary? Thats genius, I pay taxs doesnt that mean I pay my own salary as well? I will respect you because your a human being deserving of it not just because you think you own me because you pay taxs (Yes I have had someone say that they OWNED ME because they pay taxs). You will continue to get my respect until you prove through deed or word that your undeserving of it.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/1/2008 4:44:45 PM | | Most people who hate cops as a group are living on the wrong side of the law. Yes, there are some bad apples, but there are in every profession. Cops are there for our protection and as far as I am concerned, they don't get near enough recognition or thanks for putting their lives on the line each and every day they go to work so that you and I can be safe. | |

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/4/2008 6:58:12 PM | | I don't hate them all, just the ones I've gotten mixed up with, many from dating sites, this pond is full of them & most are married & will tell you that they're different from the rest of cops. | |

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/5/2008 8:09:41 PM | 46 pages. I didn't read them. I wonder if people are for or against Cops?
Anyway, In my life, I've seen far more bad cops than good cops. Here is one of many many bad cops stories I can tell:
Twenty years ago, I tended bar down on the waterfront, late at night. One evening, while cleaning the bar after closing, I looked out the window to see a huge man beating up an old, very small, homeless man, just for fun. Across the street were two cops, sitting in their cruiser, watching and laughing. After the big guy finished with the small, old, homeless man, leaving him beaten and bloodied on the sidewalk, then walking away; the cops got out of their car, walked over, and poked the old man with their nightsticks. When the man reacted by flailing his arms, the two cops took their hickory batons to him, and beat him half to death. As they dragged the old guy to their cruiser and threw him in the back seat, they could hardly contain their glee.
Once I locked up the bar, I went down to the police station to report what I had seen. At the station, the supervisor refused to take my report.
No good deed goes unpunished; for the very next night, after work, I was pulled over and arrested for drunk driving by two other cops. At the station, I blew a 0.0 (not a drop of alcohol in my blood). The cop giving the test simply claimed I refused to take it and charged me anyways. As I was led to a cell, I saw the supervisor and the two cops who had beaten the old guy the night before, standing in another room, smirking about my arrest. Cost me a couple of thousand in attorney fees to get the charge dropped.

Bullshit! I had a car stolen before. Did I call the cops? Only after I called the insurance company and they told me I had to call the cops for a report. The cops were like "Why didn't you call us first?" I said, because I know you guys don't give a shit about finding a stolen car, so I called my insurance company.
Thats your job? What a load of crap! your job is to collect taxes (by issuing tickets and arresting people) so that your locality can have more money to blow on bullshit projects and pay your salery.
Most people who hate cops as a group are living on the wrong side of the law.
This is the single biggest cop out that has ever been uttered. Believe it or not, people that are not and have not been on the "wrong" side of the law do in fact hate cops. Because they have wittnessed things that are not only illegal but flat out wrong and the perp was a cop.
But the cops secretly LOVE it when people use this phrase. The cops then know that person will believe a cop over anyone, and there it is, you've been duped.
Yes, there are some bad apples, but there are in every profession.
Apples and oranges. A bad mechanic may rip you off when fixing your car. A bad cop will lie about what really happened that night. A bad cab driver may take the long way around to pump up the fare a little more. A bad cop will take you for a ride that you will never forget. A bad lover may lie to you and break your heart. A bad cop will lie to you and the judge and the jury and you will go to prison.
There are "bad apples" as you say but the outcome of one bad cop has a HUGE impact on scociety. All cops know there are bad, dishonest cops within their ranks, but you never see a cop come out and blow the whistle on those cops. That alone makes all cops dishonest.
where I live, there are far to many officers patrolling the highway. they pick on the working class for the most stupid things.
For like what? Racing, drunk driving, littering, speeding, talking on the phone while driving, failure to use turn signals, road rage..........what exactly? In LA there are shootings on the highways again, I wish there were more CHP officers around.
WOW! Thats the same thing I see cops doing every single day! I was a bartender for years and the amount of cops that came in and got drunk and drove was ridiculus. Racing? Oh yea! I've even raced a few! Littering? I like it when they toss the plastic caps from the flares into the ditch. Speeding? I see that every day done by cops.
Talking on the phone? Yup, cops do that all the time to, but they are somehow the ONLY people on the planet that are able to do this without losing concentration. And along with this one, they are the only ones that somehow have super eyes to look around obstructions on the dash too. And they have super concentration to look at a laptop while driving. Oh yes, let us not forget, they are also super resilient to crashes that they don't need to wear a seat belt! Yes I know, it's for OUR safety to wear a seat belt. But obviously cops are so tuff they don't need one! So again, it ain't about safety folks, it's about money! Geeze, and all this time I thought cops were human! They must be SUPER HUMAN!
Failure to use turn signals!?!?! You have got to be kidding me! This is one of my biggest pet peaves and I cannot remember the last time I saw a cop use their turn signal. Or even stop at a stop sign, or stop before turning right on red, etc. etc.
In LA there are not that many shootings on the highways. Yes, any amount is too many. But in a cespool like LA what do you expect. And yet with the biggest police force in the country they rarely catch the perps. I guess it must be that there are too many cops on tax collection and drug busts. Oh yea, thats right, cops don't get federal grants for the amount of shooters on the highways they arrest but they do get federal dollars on drug convictions. Hmmmmm..... Thats just a kahwinkey dinkey.
Yea, I do hate cops. For all these reasons and a million more. I just can't stand to look at those sick twisted b-tards. I have known too many, over too many years, and unfortunately, I even have some of those b-tards in my own family. They sure were nice for the first few years of being on the job, now they're just aszholes.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/7/2008 10:42:05 PM | Wow! I cannot believe this thread is still going.
In my opinion, the badge and the patch and the gun and the authority gives the potential and opportunity to be a licenced hypocrite. Much like parents that tell their children to do as I say and not as I do.
On the other hand, we do put our lives out on the line regularly for the public good. I once ran into a burning building to help get everyone out, which we did. We drive towards where the fight is on and gunshots are fired instead of going the other way.
If you commit a minor traffic violation, I probably will pull you over and check you out, if there are no priority calls pending. However, if you haven't caused an accident, have a valid license to drive, and have insurance, I am going to warn you and not write you a ticket. You gave me probable cause to check you out.
Sometimes, the only way to keep the peace is to begin arresting people for disorderly conduct, when you are trying to disperse a crown and diffuse a situation. By the fifth or sixth time a police officer tells you that you are exacerbating a situation and need to calm down and be quiet, and perhaps also leave the scene, that is probably good advice, especially when everyone involved on scene is intoxicated.
The other day when I worked, there was a twenty-six year-old man that didn't even know his address! His father showed up and agreed to take responsibility for him. We then got a call for some kind of Baby's Mama Drama which led us into the Projects. There were about thirty people milling about ready for the instigators to arrive so they could have a brawl. In the meantime, two doors down, Baby's Mama Drama erupted, and we wound up tying up NINE police cars for nearly an hour dispersing the combatants and keeping the peace, at three in the morning. One of the combatants that was fueling the conflict was inches away from being in handcuffs. I had told her friend that she was about that close from going to jail. Her friend got her into the house and twenty minutes later, when the situation was less volatile, Rosa came out and apologized to me for her disruptive behavior, and she shook my hand. We smiled and had a warm exchange at that time, but I do not have a taser, I only have bullets, and 30 versus two means that we are desperately asking you to cooperate so that we do not have to escalate on the force continuum. I do not condone hypocricy, and it is everywhere around us. I just know that a clean conscience makes a soft pillow. I also know that around my neighborhood, I am liked and respected by my good neighbors and the ones that get involved in drama. We have an understanding of sorts: do not do illegal activity in front of my home; do not bother me when I am not working;and, if you are being a complete nimrod and disrespecting the neighborhood, I will call for a car to handle it, or if I am working I will handle it myself. We had such a call the other night. We responded as the primary Car. One young man involved, the caller, recognized me. He told me about his mini motor scooter.. I acknowledged that I had seen him riding it, but chose not to address the issue because I wasn't working, but when conversation presented itself, I advised him of the laws. I have lived here for fourteen years, so most people know who I am. This morning, as he was walking up the street, he smiled and waved, and I said hello. Also, the other night at the BP, I got to talking with the cashier, and she was telling me about a dark-haired female police offficer that is just so nasty every time she comes into the store, and about how nice I am. I am not trying to toot my own horn here, and perhaps I am the exception, but so is Zoe, and so is Juliana, and so is Marie B., and so is Terry, and Joe, and so many of us. There are many of us good guys out there. It is not really in my job description, but I apologize to everyone that has ever been subjected to enforcement by a total hypocrite! I will take you to jail for a crime, and write a good report, but I will be fair and honest about it, including taking the extra time to include your version in my reports. I guess my mantra would be to give all of us in uniform the same benefit of the doubt that you hope that we will give you. Reserve your judgement.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/11/2008 9:34:10 AM | | I do not hate cops. At one time I really admired them. Then came the Tazer and so many horror stories often backed up by video's. No of course Tazers do not kill it just so happens that there are numerous cases of people that die after being Tazered. At one time I felt safe because we had cops to call or go to if we needed some one. Now I feel very much alone. Some cops use the tazer to quickly without asking questions and they also use it as a method of control in non-threatening situations. No I do not hate the cops I am afraid of them. I am a law abiding citizen,I have a clean drivers licence and I am bondable so I am not afraid of them because of what I have done or what I am, I am afraid of them because of what some of them have become. If by some fluk I ended up in a dangerous situation I would hesitate to call in law enforcement who may taser me in seconds, because they think I am the bad guy, me and ask questions later but later could be to late. I know there are still good cops out there and it is unfortunate that others are making thier job more difficult. Believe me I am not comfortable with the fact that I no longer trust the cops but common sense tells me I would be a fool to do so. | |

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/11/2008 9:56:54 AM | Sure there are good cops but there are also sadistic power hungry cops who carry weapons and use them. How do I tell one from the other? If you pull me over you can run a check and know all about me in minutes. I have to take a law enforcement officer on faith and I have lost that faith and with good reason. And for all the decent cops out there I do admire the job you do and I do not want to lump you into a catagory so I stay as far away from cops as I can, because I can not recognize you from the others. | |

Posted: 6/11/2008 10:17:09 AM | | There are good and bad in all professions but of them all it is the cops that protect and cover up for each other when one of them does something illegal. They also make incomplete reports and hide things from the public. Things that we have the right to know.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/23/2008 9:12:42 PM | Such a shame so many of you dislike the PD.... because their job is to help keep the streets and the public safe....
When your pulled over you wonder why they are always watching you and why there are always so many officers on the streets... but...when its your family memeber hit by a drunk driver or shot, you will be asking why didn't you catch them, why weren't you there earlier and why were there not more officers available to help...
I work closely with my local PD and I'm greatful they are there. The help keep the streets safe, our accident scenes safe, they also help keep us safe when we have to tend to people with gun shots wounds.... There is alot more to the PD then you all realize... they are good men and women just trying to make a difference.... I for one am greatful they are there!

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/23/2008 9:42:22 PM | | Real cops who go after real criminals, and bust the real crime scenes don't wear blue uniforms, and walk around with pistols, little black sticks and mase. And real cops don't wear their badges proudly on their chests, they keep it in their wallets. | |

Real cops who go after real criminals, and bust the real crime scenes don't wear blue uniforms, and walk around with pistols, little black sticks and mase. And real cops don't wear their badges proudly on their chests, they keep it in their wallets.
Ignorance is so blissful for the one involved. Have you been busted for some pissant crime that you're bitter about or something?
In total honesty, whether or not any crime is eventually solved depends ***80%*** on the quality of the initial response and investigation. Care to guess who does that initial response and investigation? Yeah, the guys and gals in blue, PROUDLY wearing their badges, even though so many petty criminals heap hatred and slander upon them daily.
Go ride with your local sheriff's deputy or police officer. Sit in dispatch for a few hours. It's easy, if you can pass a very basic background check... just call them up and ask. That's only if you care to dispel some of your ignorance, of course.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/26/2008 7:42:11 AM | Sure, there are good auto mechanics and bad auto mechanics, but there are no auto mechanics that can tazer a person for getting mad about getting billed for something they don't think they should be billed for. A bad auto mechanic will only cost a person money but a bad cop can cost someone money, hurt them, and make a person feel unsafe.
There are lots of good cops and I like to think the vast majority are good, but if even 100 are bad cops, that will go a long way in making all the cops in an area look like jerks.

| Why do so many people seem to hate cops? Posted: 6/26/2008 7:50:36 AM | I spent a night in jail at her majesty's request for calling the mounties fascists...I was drunk and i needed to lash out at someone so it was the cops.
Really, the mounties are fine people. Sure many are flag-waving canadian patriots and i'm an anarchist who vomits at anything nationalistic but even i can put aside my politics when i need a mountie to aid me or my family.
