| Do you read peoples profiles?
Posted: 8/21/2007 10:08:50 AM | If i decide to click on a "search" match, then i always read the profile properly.
I don't think many actually read mine.
i have a polite message at the very bottom which says "please at least send me a message or speak to me before adding me to your list of favourites because im not just a sweet in a sweetshop"
i dont wanna feel........ ooooo this one now, that one later, maybe one of those, three of these .......etc
if someone adds me to favourites without messaging me..... i remove them, simple as that. | |

Pics i just don't go on, hence why i speak to people who have no pic! 
I know a lot of men don't read my profile, and they just comment on the pics......i'd rather them comment on the profile. I'm a human being not a piece of candy/meat!
Today, just like others, someone worked out about me, that they know i' m a very strong character, and don't mess about - too right! Life's too damn short for that! lol | |

Posted: 8/21/2007 10:55:18 AM | I always read a profile. How else can you initially find out if you have anything at all in common as a starting point. If someones profile 'interests' are football and going to the pub then my interest has just gone.
A bit of humour makes me sit up and pay attention.
Also if someone messages me and makes a reference to something I said in my profile - particularly if it was put in near the end that scores them extra brownie points.
Had a couple of people actually even read the forums I had been posting to - now that is definately 10 outta 10 for effort in my books. Shows they are really interested in the way you think (either that or they are just soooooooo bored and got nothing better to do lol) | |

Since i re joined few days ago and hardly put any info apart from self mawdling crap.. i have had soo many messages asking for dates when it specifically says im not looking > The even funnier thing was the guy who started a thread about my crap profile and weird excuses to not chat, got most of his facts wrong but boy did i laugh !!! (you sooo know who you are !!! and extremely lucky as i was 'new' and couldnt post, you escaped my reply... damm i was gutted !! )
but i do read all profiles... cos im nosey

Posted: 8/24/2007 7:19:30 AM | Definately! Absolute must. No point contacting a person otherwise. You may have absolutely nothing in common with them so little reason starting a dialogue with them. You may think the picture is hot but you can only look at pics for so long.
Things mentioned in a profile give you something to start a conversation about rather than "Hi howz u doin, ur lookin sexi/hot/cute/other(edit as required)"
I always read a profile and use that when I contact someone for the first time, I think it shows an interest in the person and not just what they look like, jmo.

yeah, i dont want to message someone when we are not compatible that is a waist of both out time, I find it VERY annoying when people do it to me. Also I need to read the profile to find something to strike up a conversation about so I have more than "hi" to say to them. | |

Posted: 9/2/2007 4:34:45 PM | Obviously its usually a picture that draws you to someones profile first,but after that most definately I do read the profile,you can tell a lot by from someone the way they put thereselves across,and also whats the use of being with someone that has nothing in common whatsoever with you, i.e they like cosy nites in and naure walks, and you like nites out and nothing bores you more than to go walking in the freezin cold talkinb bout the leaves on the trees roundabout you lol(just an example) | |

do people expect to cover all aspects of profiles while sending messages?

i kinda get to know the regulars on the forum...i think that gives a better perspective of who or what they stand for on issues on a thread...if they care, humourous..etc...what qualities you admire.or not admire sexist, argumentative etc.
That for me is a better test then 'almost' forcibly having to sell themselves on profile.
A bit like going on a date, everyone seems nice for an evening or two until you know them a while your view may change, they could stop putting there best foot forward. | |

THEN when someone seems quite deep or witty,and has something to say, i look at profile (not to message them)..to see if they are as interesting a species as they are on forum posts...
their forum' history' is the next thing to look at...usually it gets quite promising,until they say what they'd like to do with a rubber chicken...(i made that up so no one on here would sue me.) then i go click...m-a-yyy-b-e not. | |

If someone I don't know messages me, I'll check out the profile before I read the message.
I check out the profiles of forumites if they post something that engages my attention (good or bad).
I'll check my friends profiles to see if they've updated anything.
Sod it!! I confess, I'll even check out profiles just cos the pic is hot!
Oh, and I stalk the odd one or two.... keep in stealth mode so that nobody can tell.....  | |
