| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/5/2007 10:44:32 AM | yep profiles are good fun . First thing ...do they have smileys ..if yes ..move on Do they have an angel for Maddy .....if yes.. move on (very quickly) Do they have that stupid squirrely welcome to my profile..if yes ..move on Do they talk in text..if yes.. move on Do they have a ribbon for cancer ..TO SHOW YoU CARE ....Run like feck I think that a lot can be told about a person from the name . If someone calls themselves" heeley feeley stargazer crystal ". you know what to expect . Or is someone calls themselves "Bad boy 2000" you are going to get a dweeb . And so on . Not worried about photo although it is obviously the first thing you look at . I then check for weight... not into big women .Next is children , I would of course chat to a single mum but that's it . Area and then jobs and interests.. ho hum . | |

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/5/2007 5:06:43 PM | | It is an absolute must as far as I am conerned. Never judge a book by it's cover. Pictures may look nice, but reading the profile can be scary sometimes with the hidden agendas. I'm in it for the long haul, so I want to know as much as possible before I jump in, so to speak. | |
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 5:33:21 AM | | I look at the main picture but never look at any others they posted on their profile, and I always read the profile before I decide to contact or answer them. | |

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 7:09:02 AM | It does seem that the majority of people in this thread read profiles. And i am the same. I find that i am put off by lots of rants and raves in a profile which describe in detail every type of person that annoys them. But i think most people include some likes and dislikes, as i have too. I keep shortening mine...... then decide to include crap jokes...... then delete them, and then find some more! I guess we are all different in our approach and as i am still a kid at heart i am itching to use the xmas smileys already | |

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 7:32:22 AM | | I always read the profiles, I think it helps when writing them a message, plus you can tell from 'what they're looking for' if you think you'd get on with them.. | |
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 7:46:43 AM | | A photo is always of help, I like to see who im contacting, I wouldnt talk to a girl with a sack over her face for fear she was ugly (and it'd just be weird). I would never contact anyone without a pic, then again I dont contact people with a pic either lol. | |

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 11:26:56 AM | yes i do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what i find a massive turn off is when i see a womans profile with a huge long list of "MUST NOTS" .................uurrggg just hate those profiles.
the better ones are the humourus ones where the profile is full of "normal" things about that person and what "normal" things that person would like to do.
ive noticed from the female looking for male intimate encounter, the majority of female profiles do NOT have any pictures........i wonder why !!!!!!!

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 11:34:48 AM | I actually don't understand why people message without reading the profile yet it happens all the time to me. So blatantly obvious they have sent me a message just from the picture, pees me off no end.
I really enjoy reading profiles, hate the ones with only two sentences and one of those tells you stuff like their height and hair colour when I already know that from other bits of the profile!
Also the more pictures the better. Someone earlier said they only look at the main pic whereas I like to see a few with a bit of variety to get a better idea of the person.

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/6/2007 11:50:31 AM | | to the OP, I read the profiles, check out the pictures and then reply to those that I like, no point in not reading the profiles as they might express a lofe of riding fast bikes, when I drive a car etc.... | |

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/14/2007 1:02:09 PM | Read them?! God, I take them apart letter by letter. It's just a shame many people don't seem to be able to read - or read beyond 5 lines of ****ing txt spk.
I'm pretty specific in my profile and I've had alot of positive responses, but also an amazing amount of men who just don't get the fact that I am not into an interchange of truncated language and send me incomprehensible msgs - all x mt u pls lv. Fck ff bstrd
Actually, I'd like to truncate them.. hmmm. There's a thought.
I've been impressed with a few profiles, then thought... mmmm. ... googled a sentence and lo and behold the whole caboodle has been nicked from somewhere else, with no acknowledgements or anyfing.
Oh well, variety n'all that...

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/16/2007 1:29:39 AM | if a photo grabs my attention then it's straight to the profile....
It's the only way to find out if there is any reason to contact the person... I read everything.... and if it's anything like mine, it can take quite some time but so worth it.

Probably also due to the double standard, she doesn't want someone she knows to see the profile & spread the word.
Or she could just be a complete minger.
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/16/2007 5:10:17 AM | When I get a message and then check their profile out and there is nothing in it plus 'prefer not to say' in all sections, I reply that I only chat to people with a full profile. Then I get the reply, "Ask away." As if I would waste my time on him! As other posters have said, a profile is so important in weeding out the good from the mediocre.

Spread the word? I believe the word you are looking for is legs.
I always read the profile, it usually provides a damn good reason why I shouldn't make contact!

yes yes yes, but what about all the males looking for intimate encounter ( and yes there are more males looking) who want to get laid...the majority of these men have pictures on their profiles....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/16/2007 11:26:09 AM | | I always read the profile before contacting anyone - tbh I don't care how pretty someone is if we've nothing in common, so it'd be daft to make contact based solely on a photo. | |
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/16/2007 11:40:13 AM | | yes i read profiles but then get complaints about mine i dont understand what they mean lol | |
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 11/27/2007 1:44:57 AM | Not fair - I always read people's profiles.
So why is that that I get so many emails from men who so clearly have not read mine?

There should be one of those tick boxes that says "I confirm I have read so and so" before one can email someone....LOL
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 6/15/2008 10:55:43 AM | Most definitely, read them twice, often very revealing. I don't reply to those with studio photo's( whats that all about) or text speak. I believe in being quite specific, and appreciate those who reciprocate otherwise it whiffs of hedging your bets. Be bold, say what you want. I could write a book so far on the nuts Ive met. Chapter one, noses to the trough lol.

| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 6/15/2008 1:51:35 PM | | I read the whole profile. If it interests me I'll mail them. I like a photo and it's often the photo that hooks me in first. Not because of looks, but more because of what they're doing in it. I can't resist having a look at a profile when I see a picture of someone on top of mountain wearing a backpack, or sitting in a canoe. But no matter how good the photo is, if they don't tell me anything in their profile then I won't email them. | |
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 6/15/2008 1:59:20 PM | | I love reading profiles , men and ladies. You get the same look a like profiles but you get some that are a real good read. When I'm in the forums I usually read the profile attached to the post. | |
|
| Do you read peoples profiles? Posted: 6/15/2008 2:41:40 PM | A "hot" photo is never enough to justify writing to someone. Girls who are "hot" (& know it) are full of themselves. I like people who have more depth than a puddle. There is nothing worse than a picture of a bimbo in a bar with all her friends around her, just to prove to the POF population that she has got real friends (honest)...

Of course I read the profiles. I even send a carefully crafted, witty, & personal email.... .....& still get "read/deleted".... haha
