| Cartoons you saw as a kid... Posted: 1/20/2009 9:09:03 PM | All the early 60's cartoons. Hercules was one of my favorites, but any WB cartoon was great, too. Flintstones, Jetsons were also favorites.
My mom worried about me. I'd wake up early on a Saturday morning -- really early. 5 am or so. Cartoons wouldn't start for at least 2 more hours. So, I'd go downstairs, sit in front of the TV in my rocking chair, rocking back and forth, and watch ... the test pattern. For two hours.
Mom would come downstairs, see what I was doing, then shake her head and go back upstairs.

| Cartoons you saw as a kid... Posted: 1/26/2009 11:42:02 PM | | I can't believe the guys in here didn't mention ROBOTECH. Most of the others that were mentioned were cool, like Voltron, G-Force, MASK, G.I.Joe, etc. But ROBOTECH was a game changer. Great story line, and characters actually got killed off. Totally unheard of in normal American cartoons. Few other things had a greater impact on me as kid than that cartoon. | |

| Cartoons you saw as a kid... Posted: 1/26/2009 11:52:30 PM | I had the biggest crush on Johnny Quest's dad.
I loved Witchypoo from H.R. Puffnstuff, I even had striped tights and I still love pointy toed shoes.
Speed Racer and Clutch Cargo with the creepy people mouths and cartoon faces.
The Bugaloos's were pretty cool.
I was terrified of the Sleestaks from Land of the Lost.
Marshall, Will, and Holly On a routine expedition Met the greatest earthquake ever known. High on the rapids It struck their tiny raft. And plunged them down a thousand feet below.

That is one of them. It took a while to find that picture, and I cannot remember for the life of me what they were called.

| Cartoons you saw as a kid... Posted: 3/19/2009 5:01:24 PM | | Growing up, I was addicted to the Superfriends. I used to look forward to watching that show every Saturday morning. As a kid, I used to get irritated because Aquaman never had much to do. He was my favorite on that show. THe fact he could talk to fish always interested me. I used to wonder what a fish would have to say? | |

| Cartoons you saw as a kid... Posted: 3/20/2009 8:26:29 AM | I watched a cartoon called , Dodo the kid from outer space. It seems that unless you were from britain or lived in my hometown it was not very well known. Kee-Zonzo Dodo!!!!!!
Also my faves were the animated superhero shorts not the superfriends but they were of the individuals like superman , aquaman , green lantern. Scooby doo rocked, yogi bear and all of the hanna barbara characters were great.
but overall the biggest influence on my childhood had to be bugs bunny and the gang. "That's all Folks!!!!!"

I always woke up at 6:30AM on Saturdays, in time to watch Davey and Goliath- then at 7AM the cartoons started- ABC, CBS, and NBC played cartoons non-stop from 7AM to about 12-12:30Pm...the only time I would get up between then was to make breakfast. My parents never worried that I spent all that time watching cartoons, because as soon as it was over they knew I'd be outside until dinner. I remember Saturday morning cartoons were such a big deal that all three of the main networks would air prime-time specials at the beginning of the Fall to advertise that season's new line-up, I remember those were my favorite things to watch so I could see what new cartoons there were going to be, and what cartoons were coming back.

| Cartoons you saw as a kid... Posted: 3/20/2009 10:11:27 PM | Wow what memories I remember most of the ones posted. There was one I didn't think I seen and I do forget the name of it. It was almost like a claymation type show. I watched it on Sunday mornings. I would say it started with catholic insignias and it was a morals values show with a family of four, sister and brother mom and dad. Anyone recall? I think it started with him lighting a rocket too into the sky. On the tip of my tongue but I can't think of it. Its not gumby. I liked that one to. And the Jackson 5 cartoons and fat Albert
Oh I found it Davy and Goliath http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ-zQpC4uaM

Fat Albert, that's another one I watched. My dad had some early Bill Cosby on 8 Track, I used to listen to those all the time, it featured the early beginnings of Fat Albert before the cartoon.
