They had morals and values they they belived in and they taught their children if/when they had any the same.
Old fashion wasn't or isn't just the man working and the lady taking care of the house and kids.
Old fashioned is something to be respected and admired. Get your grandparents to talking about when they were growing up and the people they knew and you will hear them say , so and so was a good man, so and so was a good lady
Don't talk to me like I'm a child and I'll reciprocate that sentiment. My grandfather on my mothers side died a couple years ago after 96 years. He was married to my grandmother for 68 years. Don't talk to me like I don't know what I'm talking about. Unfortunately in his last years the people who loved him and he loved were simply waiting for him to die. Poor bugger.
You cannot romanitisize being "old fashion" to me. You cannot understand what the hell your talking about. Sure you can paint a fantasy around the whole notion but its a far cry from what living "old fashion" is all about. I really am quite disgusted by the surprising numbers of people here who are standing behind the label of being "old fashion" | |

But now let me just point out a couple of things.
1=no where in my post did i mention your name or anyones names for that matter.
2nd= just by reading this i take it that they were waiting for your grandpa to die so they could get his money or things he aquired through out his life.
This just shows a lack of respect and compassion.
3rd= there is a differance from BEING old fashioned and LIVING poor.
Now before you just in and say you are not poor, I DIDN'T call you poor.
but by the way to quoted (living old fashioned) it seems as though you are speaking of how they had to live.
such as hard work to obtain anything. Or just to even raise a family.
slow down and read the whole post and then you might understand.
I didn't put you or anyone down, I just pointed out the differance in how people have lost morals and values. | |

I live on acerage, so I do fencing and whatever needs doing, but I can still get dressed up to go out. No dirt under the nails. lol Unfortunatley I am having a hard time finding a man who will treat me with respect. Ready to give up. We most certainly do...and that's all we want, unfortunately most of the females I've dated in last year seem to have all become victims of the media...we must dress like this, look like that etc and Oh dear! What's that? I have wrinkles!!! SURGERY QUICK! Surprisingly enough i shut down a date because she expected us to sleep together after our second! I would consider my lady progressively to become my best friend, my loverand my wife, mother to my children and after 40 yrs of marriage, I'd still ask her out on a date because she is just that...A LADY....

But real Women are few and far between because Old Fashioned means She is a REAL LADY.
I LOVE THIS DESCRIPTION. It has nothing to do with being a man's property, or June Cleaver ect. It has to do with self respect and respect for her man!!!! The question now is are there any old fashioned men left - yep! | |

Well almost any sexual activity has been well known and documented for centuries so if you mean old fashion by meaning a woman believes they should try to please and keep their man happy mentaly, emotionaly and sexualy then yes I still want an oldfashioned girl.

There are tons of us out here, but we aren't all beauty queens, so we are overlooked.
beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
some guys would swoon and cream their pants if some so called super model smiled at them, yet other guys think they are ugly with all skin and bone.
personality cant be seen, a soft voice has to be heard, and warm eyes and a sweet smile have to be experianced | |

Why is it some people think "old fashioned" equals stuck up and egotistical?
"Old fashioned" is a term some people use to justify their behavior, it has nothing to do with a grander societal norm. Just from reading the posts I see most of the people are basing their concept of "old fashion" on some relatively recent history that when you look deeper into it isn't nearly as quaint and wholesum as they would like to believe.
We should all go about dating the "old fashion' way. Us guys can get a our women by a raid on the a near by tribe or we can buy a daughter from a father.

So to keep with the theam of the thread My deffinition of "Old Fashioned Gal" is someone who holds their values and beliefs true to them no matter what. A lady in public and a hmmm how do I say it in a polite way, I guess a wild one in the bedroom.
I have been called old fashioned on many occations by many people. Heck my father even tells me I was born 50 years to late LOL. In this modern world it is hard to have this type of personality becasue everyone tells you over and over again how wrong you are, yep been told I am week and need to be more of a b!tch where men are concerned.
I would have no problem letting my husband be "head of the household" and make the big decisions for us, as long as he did it with full respect for me, and our home. Now that is a hard man to find. | |
