Posted: 10/11/2009 8:17:30 AM | The newest info about H1N1 on CBC is this: Do not take regular flu shot if you want an H1N1 because you are sure to contract H1N1 if you compromise your immune system with a regular flu shot. It is recommened that we get vacinated for H1N1 H1N1 vacines are three times the price of regular flu shots...... Pharmaceutical companies are good at what they do, aren't they?

| Flu shots... Posted: 10/11/2009 9:40:08 AM | Just a brief note on “The Medical Sickness Business”
Please do yourself and your loved ones a favor …do extensive research into MMS (Miracle Mineral Solution) and Jim Humble. I could pen 20 pages on this one. You just Google it and Youtube it for users experiences and you will see for yourself. Then if you wish, you can try it, you will not be disappointed. Put in a hundred hours or so.
I came upon MMS 7.5 months ago and my daughter and I have had great success using it. Most of the people living here and that come around often, don’t want to use it. As times goes by and they see the results for themselves, they are getting much more convinced. A few have thanked us from the bottom of their hearts, because it worked for them as well.
In one sentence … It cures it all … and very quickly. Example: One woman on her deathbed with cancer that was given 2 weeks to live was back at work in 30 days.
To Quote one of the MMS suppliers
In compliance with Health Canada, we can no longer sell or promote Miracle Mineral Supplement.
Many changes are being made in the MMS Industry, due to Health Canada declaring MMS a drug, as well as the FDA wanting to shut down the entire supplement industry.
If you read Health Canada's definition of a drug, which is pretty much the same as the FDA, you'll see that garlic, cayenne, ginger and water fall into it's definition;
"Drug" is defined in Section 2 of the Food and Drugs Act; "drug" includes any substance or mixture of substances manufactured, sold or represented for use in;
a) the diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of a disease, disorder or abnormal physical state, or its symptoms, in human beings or animals.
b) restoring, correcting or modifying organic functions in human beings or animals or
c) disinfection in premises in which food is manufactured, prepared or kept.
Well, there you go. Basically, ALL supplements are at risk of being banned according to these definitions.
We are doing the best we can to bring you quality Sodium Chlorite 28% while staying in compliance with Health Canada.
As you can see from the above, they are only interested in sick people for profit … Healthy people are not good for business, for The Sickness Industry.
It kills swine flu and every other flu in existence without zero collateral damage at all. No residues except a few grains of salt . Well over 100,000 people have been cured of any disease under the sun worldwide. Please check it all out for yourself. Any opinion of this post is okey with me … All I do is make it known and let everyone decide for themselves … after all, it is your life not mine … I use it a lot and will not die of any disease, neither will my loved ones, if they choose to use it.
EnJoy your day … Love and Peace always … in all ways

I don't get the flu often but when I do, it always turns into pneumonia & lasts for at least a month if not longer. Apparently one pneumonia shot is good for up to 10 years. Hope it works.

| Flu shots... Posted: 10/18/2009 11:55:13 AM | I found this article quite interesting:
http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200911/brownlee-h1n1
Apparently there are some researchers in the field questioning whether flu shots work at all, even for elderly and immune-compromised people. The group cited in the article reviewed immunization, infection and mortality rates and found the entire supposed benefit of flu shots could be explained more simply by another well-known and obvious phenomenon, the "healthy user" effect: people who get flu shots are less likely to die of flu because they tend to be the same people who take care of themselves in general.
I've never looked into that angle of it on my own; not being in any of the high-risk categories myself, it was enough for me to realize that a flu shot was a bad idea for me personally. However, ever since I moved back to Canada in 2004 I've wondered why there's such a big pressure campaign to get flu shots, against normal flu or H1N1. It's really quite strange and smells of hysteria, similar to the frenzied panic over peanut allergies in some quarters. That's one advantage of living overseas for a long time, I guess; these little incongruities just leap out at you when exposed to them fresh, whereas if I'd been here for years they might have snuck up on me with a sense of creeping normalcy.

| Flu shots... Posted: 10/21/2009 12:18:34 PM | I saw my physician today and took the opportunity to ask for his advice on whether I should get the H1N1 vaccination.
The year 1957 is a benchmark. The earlier you were born before then the more likely you have already built up immunity to the virus. I was only 3 then so my age puts me in the "gray zone" and so he recommended I get the vaccination when it becomes available.
He expects to be extending his office hours in order to accommodate the demand.
His staff believes there will not be a fee for the H1N1 vaccination.
Regarding the seasonal flu vaccination, he said "let's wait and see". By the time it is available, likely next January, there will probably be little point in getting it.

| Flu shots... Posted: 10/21/2009 12:35:48 PM | It's already here and it is widespread. A little late for the vaccines. Except for pregnant women of course who have a rather high mortality rate of 5% from this flu.
If you are reasonably healthy, opt for a little bit of piggly. You will save yourself a lot of headaches in the oncoming years if and when it should decide to mutate and the big money machines can't keep up...or if they put out an ineffective batch of vaccine. It is just another influenza, with a much lower mortality rate amongst compromised immunity patients than the yearly influenzas.
Fearmongering. Media. The average person believes what they see on the t.v. and can't process it properly in context of a larger scope. It is really sad. And it is how the drug companies get richer and richer, holding us all hostage with our own fear.

| Flu shots... Posted: 10/26/2009 11:22:43 PM | Advocates include the benefits of "herd immunity" as a reason for getting vaccinated.
What is Herd Immunity?
In immunology, herd immunity refers to a situation in which a high percentage of a population is immune to a disease, essentially stopping the disease in its tracks because it cannot find new hosts. You may also hear this concept referred to as “community immunity.” The threshold for herd immunity varies, depending on the disease, with more virulent agents requiring vaccination of a higher percentage of the population to crate the desired herd immunity. In addition to being used in disease prevention, community immunity is also utilized to fight ongoing outbreaks.
Most vaccination policies are focused on creating herd immunity. Many countries require vaccinations in childhood, for example, protecting children from common diseases and ensuring that when these diseases enter the population, they cannot prey on children or adults, who have been previously vaccinated or exposed to the disease. The creation of herd immunity is especially important in crowded environments which facilitate the spread of disease, like schools.
Immunologists try to prevent the outbreak of diseases by creating herd immunity, but they are not always successful. Sometimes a disease mutates or is entirely new, or a batch of vaccinations is faulty, or a large percentage of the population fails to get vaccinated, creating a situation in which an outbreak can occur, because much of the population is vulnerable. In the event of an outbreak of a major disease, agencies like the World Health Organization can dispatch teams within days to figure out the cause of the outbreak and develop a vaccine, in the hopes of creating herd immunity to halt the outbreak in its tracks.
For some diseases, herd immunity thresholds are as low as 50%, especially when combined with good hygiene. In other instances, up to 90% of the population may need to be vaccinated to create the desired herd immunity. It is also extremely important to receive regular boosters, as some vaccines lose their efficacy over time, leaving people vulnerable to an outbreak. Herd immunity led to the eradication of smallpox, and it explains why diseases such as polio and diphtheria are rare in developed nations with established vaccination policies.
The concept of herd immunity is often used to encourage reluctant parents to vaccinate their children. In addition to ensuring that their children are protected from fully preventable diseases, childhood vaccinations also benefit society at large by creating herd immunity. Likewise, adults may be reminded to receive boosters to help protect their communities.

I can see why some people might consider this to be hype and fear mongering, but from all I've learned on the topic haven't been convinced not get the vaccination.

That's standard stuff for a new virus. The older you are, the more immunity you'll have to new flu strains because there's more chance you've already been exposed and developed antibodies to some other virus that's coincidentally similar. It's a hit-and-miss thing, though. A twelve year old might already be resistant to it because by sheer luck they caught some vaguely similar strain while living abroad, and a 35 year old might die from it because they've never had any exposure to anything similar and the virus infects them very quickly without antibodies to slow it down.
I don't plan to get either the H1N1 or the regular flu shots. Mostly that's because of basic philosophical disagreements with the entire notion of flu immunization - I said lots about it previously, but in short the point is that I think we're doing ourselves more harm in the long run by immunizing ourselves against diseases that aren't really all that serious. The new H1N1 strain isn't much more dangerous than regular flu (so far, anyway) so I figure taking my chances is the better option, and I just try to stay healthy generally so I'm even more likely to survive if I do get it. Besides, there's a fair chance I've already had it, about three weeks ago. :)
On the other hand, if H5N1 ever mutates and starts spreading person-to-person, I might very well be the first person in line for a shot!

Thanks Traveller, that clears up one more question for me. Thanks Traveller, that clears up one more question for me. I am high risk though, so wonder if in that case you would change your philosophy were you also?
Possibly. It's hard to say because it's a different way of thinking; I'm more focused on not getting into any of the high-risk categories in the first place. That works for me personally but might very well not apply to you; nobody knows our own health better than us so we all have to make up our own minds.
But on that note... the whole hype over flu shots is just one corner of a much bigger issue. Is it better to try to manage your health with technology, or to try to adapt yourself and stay naturally healthy? It's a philosophical issue but one with very real and immediate personal consequences. Our parents' generation grew up at a time when science & technology were whacking down ancient health problems, and a widespread attitude developed that you could solve all your health problems by taking a pill or some treatment. Somewhere around the eighties the problems with this way of thinking started to become so visible nobody could miss them, and nowadays we should all know better. I, and probably most of you, have watched a steady stream of "the folks" ruin their bodies over time to the point where nowadays (if they're still alive) they're held together by pills and surgery. The basic lesson is clear, yet we still stumble on the details; medicine should not be our first answer to every health problem that comes along.
The flu shot is just one example of the issue, but it's a good one. People have been around a long time and endured countless generations of flu before, and we've survived. It's tempting to think we can improve on that success with a little harmless jab but our bodies are complex (and at times chaotic) systems we still don't understand all that well, and everything we do to them has side effects which might be cumulative and might not be obvious. In other fields when faced with complex systems we don't understand, the obvious smart approach is to treat them with respect and proceed slowly, making minimal changes. The principle is just as valid applied to health.
On the other hand, it is fair to wonder if we've changed the environment to generate extra risk which requires an active response. If the plague starts spreading fast because of modern air travel, we shouldn't wonder about natural resistance and immunity but should just do everything we can to stop it. H1N1 is not in that category of problem (although it's quite conceivable another flu strain might be in future) and so, to my mind, does not merit the technological approach.

This is an email sent to a friend of Dr. Blaylock and is now being forwarded to anyone interested. Please pass it along. Also note the attached biography of Dr. Blaylock. Dr. Blaylock is a board certified neurosurgeon, author and lecturer. He attended the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his general surgical internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
No one should take this vaccine (Swine Flu vaccine)—it is one of the most dangerous vaccines ever devised. It contains an immune adjuvant called squalene (MF-59) which has been shown to cause severe autoimmune disorders such as MS, rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus. The newsletter for August covers this and it may not be out yet. This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200% increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus H1N1 kills by causing a “cytokine storm”, which means that it causes the body’s immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality of the virus much greater. One’s best protection is vitamin D3.. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the disease begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3 modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils (the best is Carlson’s Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient. For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of various kinds also help—this includes, quercetin, curcumin, grape seed extract, vitamin C and natural vitamin E. A good multivitamin/mineral such as Extend Core (www.vrp.com) is also essential.
Feel free to spread this around. People need to know how to protect themselves.

Squalene is a natural organic compound originally obtained for commercial purposes primarily from shark liver oil, though botanic sources (primarily vegetable oils) are used as well, including amaranth seed, rice bran, wheat germ, and olives. All higher organisms produce squalene, including humans. It is a hydrocarbon and a triterpene. Squalene is a natural and vital part of the synthesis of cholesterol, steroid hormones, and vitamin D in the human body. Squalene is used in cosmetics, and more recently as an immunologic adjuvant in vaccines.

What Squalene Does to Humans
Your immune system recognizes squalene as an oil molecule native to your body. It is found throughout your nervous system and brain. In fact, you can consume squalene in olive oil and not only will your immune system recognize it, you will also reap the benefits of its antioxidant properties.
The difference between “good” and “bad” squalene is the route by which it enters your body. Injection is an abnormal route of entry which incites your immune system to attack all the squalene in your body, not just the vaccine adjuvant.
Your immune system will attempt to destroy the molecule wherever it finds it, including in places where it occurs naturally, and where it is vital to the health of your nervous system.[viii]
Gulf War veterans with Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) received anthrax vaccines which contained squalene.[ix] MF59 (the Novartis squalene adjuvant) was an unapproved ingredient in experimental anthrax vaccines and has since been linked to the devastating autoimmune diseases suffered by countless Gulf War vets.[x]
The Department of Defense made every attempt to deny that squalene was indeed an added contaminant in the anthrax vaccine administered to Persian Gulf war military personnel – deployed and non-deployed – as well as participants in the more recent Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program (AVIP).
However, the FDA discovered the presence of squalene in certain lots of AVIP product. A test was developed to detect anti-squalene antibodies in GWS patients, and a clear link was established between the contaminated product and all the GWS sufferers who had been injected with the vaccine containing squalene.
A study conducted at Tulane Medical School and published in the February 2000 issue of Experimental Molecular Pathology included these stunning statistics:
“ … the substantial majority (95%) of overtly ill deployed GWS patients had antibodies to squalene. All (100%) GWS patients immunized for service in Desert Shield/Desert Storm who did not deploy, but had the same signs and symptoms as those who did deploy, had antibodies to squalene.
In contrast, none (0%) of the deployed Persian Gulf veterans not showing signs and symptoms of GWS have antibodies to squalene. Neither patients with idiopathic autoimmune disease nor healthy controls had detectable serum antibodies to squalene. The majority of symptomatic GWS patients had serum antibodies to squalene.”[xi]

| Flu shots... Posted: 11/1/2009 9:20:00 AM | When faced with dilemmas such as this, whether or not to get vaccinated for a flu shot, I have several things I can do to help me reach a decision.
I try to self-educate myself on the facts, the pro and the cons. I can research the articles on the Internet, read the literature that arrives in my mailbox, read and watch the news reports. There are numerous "expert" opinions available for me to try and digest.
Of course there is no shortage of opinions, both for and against, being presented here in the BC forums.
We have this thread "Flu Shots" http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts5977192.aspx
and
"H1N1 vaccine. Are you getting a shot?" http://forums.plentyoffish.com/datingPosts13342048.aspx
As I lack the necessary training in human biology, health care and medicine I am at a disadvantage to fully comprehend all the information and the ramifications of the conflicting information, with a steady stream of new information being added.
I have to accept that if I were to continue the quest to self-educate myself in a likely-futile attempt to understand everything that is being said it is likely I will be long dead of old age before might achieve that goal, providing a flu doesn't kill me first.
So I weigh the benefits of getting a flu shot against the risks of getting them. I add in the important issue of "herd immunity", and also the risk that if I am not immunized I raise the risk carrying the virus to someone else who might in turn suffer serious consequences.
There appears to be adequate evidence on the H1N1 flu to suggest a relatively prompt decision should be made. The virus will spread while some people flop about in their indecision.
So the prudent choice for me is to ultimately turn to someone who I trust and know to be far more educated and informed in human biology, health care and medicine that I can ever be.
Ultimately I seek the advice of my physician. I have established a good rapport with him and I know that he has my best interests at heart when he gives me advice. When I act on his advice I know I've made the most informed and best choice I can make, in timely fashion, based on the information and advice available to him and to me.
Yes, shit happens and the choice may eventually prove to be the wrong one, but it is far more probable to be the correct choice, at least for me.
There is no iron-clad guarantee that the vaccination will not harm me and nor is there one that my not getting the vaccination will harm anyone. The guarantee I have is that eventually, like everyone else, I will die.
So I endeavour to make a reasonable choice and a responsible choice. Will you?
|
| Flu shots... Posted: 11/1/2009 9:34:28 AM | I made a reasonable and responsible choice. I have an auto-immune disorder (arthritis and interstitial cystitis), but otherwise am fairly healthy and active. I decided not to take the flu shot (provided early to health-care workers). I got the swine flu. It was a little harsher than a lot of previous respiratory flus. I survived.
I am immune now, and have no worries about further damage to my auto-immune system from a chemical that has not received enough testing to determine it's long-term implications.
Each must make their own responsible and reasonable choice.
|
| Flu shots... Posted: 11/2/2009 5:46:08 PM | | I am playing it by ear with respect to the H1N1 because it seems like I will have lots and lots of time to decide before they get to my group. My immune system is super strong so I am not worried. I don't bother with the regular flue shot. | |
|
| Flu shots... Posted: 11/3/2009 12:01:07 AM | I got several copies of the Dr. Russell Blaylock pieces, and looked him up. He's done no vaccine work at all, and is mostly a lobbyist and promoter of "alternative health," which he helps vend. He talks up the immune-boosting power of vitamins but doesn't mention that such effects are at best marginal, where very significant infection blokin can be had from vaccines. His circulating death tolls are from early summer, when there had been very little spread in the northern hemisphere of H1N1.
The adjuvant studies are of the sort of large-dose ones used to detect risks of health effects in long-term use, but adjuvant vaccination is so far a one-time thing. Certainly we should be thinking carefully about making adjuvant use widespread for all vaccines (such as experimental targeted cancer vaccines), but the single-exposure levels don't cause panic from high-exposure studies.
The effectiveness of the vaccine is coming out very good in ongoing monitoring - 90% protection after two weeks.
The November issue of SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN has a news piece (written about 2 months ago) has a flu news roundup on page 19 of its news scan department. Among other news we've been hearing is the thesis that both previous disease and previous vaccination exposure contribute to life long immunity.
Keep reading science news - the work on this infection and its effects is still being done now.
I got the seasonal vaccine two and a half weeks ago, and the HN1 Swine injection today. No effects yet, not even redness or soreness. My doctor told me, when I had the first shot, that he classed my priority as fit for the third week of vaccination, and he stuck to that and delivered as promised. There was no charge for either shot.

Evidently some effects are considered a good indicator that your body is responding to the broken virus, commencing immunity to the real threat.
I did get some redness in the area where the pneumonia vaccination was injected.
However I did not notice anything visible for either the H1N1 or the seasonal flu shots. That makes me wonder if I was already immune to both those concerns.
My achy response to the vaccinations was most felt the following morning.
