| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 3/28/2007 12:01:20 PM | I traded my first set in for a 3kt pink diamond and platinum ring. Figured it was a fair trade up
My 2nd set I'm still not sure what to do with yet. Don't need a divorce ring as I already one ^^^^^
Might put it on Ebay and see how much I can get for it as it is not a traditional engagement ring. My 2nd set is a 2 kt emerald and 1 kt worth of diamonds surrounding the emerald.

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 3/28/2007 12:16:03 PM | I had just tossed mine on the neck of a little plastic dinosaur sitting on my desk. A friend who was over said "the subtext of that is amazing" and I asked him wtf he was talking about and he said "putting a wedding ring on the neck of something thats also extinct".
The next week I just tossed both of em in a box, and there they still are.

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/12/2008 3:52:30 PM | Hmm, I never even thought about this, until now.
After I started developing some skin problems under the wedding band my Doc advised I stop wearing it (and consequentially ending me wearing any jewelery whatsoever). My ex, lovingly dubbed "Mrs. No!", sure got angry with me not wearing a ring.
Guess I'll have to come up with appropriate use for the gold band. I've already made a salmon fishing lure from a toothbrush, so maybe could fashion one from a wedding band too.
You might enjoy this though. A friend of mine had a nasty injury to her ring finger and her finger ends where the first joint from the knuckle would have been. Lacking the knuckle a ring won't stay on, so she had a symbolic ring pattern tattooed on the end of her finger stump. Her husband got the same kind of tattoo.

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/12/2008 10:02:16 PM | | I never even bought her a ring, so now she can thank me that she doesn't have to figure out what to do with it. I believe a ring is a sign of bondage and ownership or belonging to another, born free die free. I don't want to own someone just share a life together, but then I don't believe in marriage as a legal union, take your vows in private. I alway thought it funny that someone else can say you are now bonded, words can not bond you only love can. | |

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/13/2008 12:00:18 AM | Well one of my sisters sold hers...mind you they never quite got to the wedding aisle...but she did recieve them on her birthday...so thats why she kept them. i have my moms engagement ring ...wedding ring was lost years years ago..
i think throwing them away or burying them in a park...(now you know why people use those metal detectors things....for the people that bury stuff in a park.. ) ....is a waste...i like the fishing lure one the best so far..

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/13/2008 12:19:44 AM | | I still have mine..Its a plain gold band with an engravied with the wedding date on the inside. I plan to give it a good toss when my divorce is final, maybe in the columbia river. But yeah I agree with some on here that say the ring is worthless. It trully is worthless now that my marriage is over. I just want for some reaon to get rid of it on the day my divorced is final, as a final closure I guess. | |

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/13/2008 12:36:43 AM | Or, how about, just see what the selling price is for it, and get as much money as you can selling it to a jeweler, because, I don't think that you want ANY memories of where that thing came from, hanging around ya AT ALL.
As the song goes, take the money and run, at least with the money, ya can use it to pay off some bills.
That way, there are NO memories, of that thing hanging around. NONE, ZIP, ZERO, and ya paid off some unwanted bills with the money, so the money is gone, and so are the bills.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Got to LOVE it.

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/13/2008 9:28:58 AM | | cnote is right I think.... I gave mine to my son (AGE 15). Told him it was his and he could have it or sell it as he wished. He wore it for the rest of the week he was with me. Funny thing it ended up on top of his dresser at my place. I asked if he would like help selling it and he said no he wanted to keep it... I guess his mom told him to get rid of it as she probably didn't like to see him wearing it when he was at her place. | |

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/13/2008 11:05:59 AM | Keep it as it was given for a good reason; like your children it is a part of your life and who you have become.
Use it like Cnote mentioned in post 7 for your children...
or save it for the next wedding change the engraving is cheaper than a new one
Selling it you get less than 1/3 of the value...

| What to do with old wedding rings? Posted: 1/13/2008 11:48:06 AM | I traded mine for some tattoo work.
My daughter was a bit upset that I didn't pass them down but I just asked her, "Why would you want to start a new relationship with the symbols of a failed one?" She agreed.

Hmmm, puts a new spin on "Bite me!"
