I agree...eHarmony was a flat-out bust. Seems to be a repository for tired, timid people who need to be 'guided' through the initial stages of contact. I didn't realize it was so restrictive when I signed up. If you can't manage your own communication with a potential mate, how are you going to handle your relationship? Thru eBoyfriend.com? Stay away from there and wet your hook here, matey.

Hi,

I joined for one month. I have the same experience: I am not attracted to a single one of the matches.

There is the "fast track" option which allows direct communication sooner if the other person agrees.

A friend of mine gave me a gift subscription to eharmony...it was such a waste of time. I had mileage preferences within 100 miles...I was getting matches from Minnesota and Alaska, I live in Florida. Guess eharmony's computer needed a geography lesson!
I also had stated I wanted to met someone that didn't want children...every person they sent to me wanted children...DUH!!!

I'm just glad I didn't pay for it.

I tried eharmony twice an each time they said "sorry but there are no matches in our system for you" now everytime i see that damed commerical on t.v i wanna spit at the screen. .truthfully if it was legal i would have gotten married to myself a long time ago..
i mean why not?, nobody can love me better then i can love myself, plus i'd never have to worry about me leaving me, or getting cheated on an lied to..lol seriously.

I agree, E-Harmony stinks big time!!!

When I was a member I was beginning to think it was a way for extremely old men (70 years and up) to meet young women. All my matches were at least 20 years older than I was. Also, I was not allowed to pick my age range (3 years younger than myself to a maximum of 6 years older). I was told that it was set up by them for a better chance of meeting someone - yeah right!

E-Harmony commercials are so hilarious. I would love for them to really show who they are trying to match people up with!

Geez, don't get me started on that trash site - what a joke!

i agree eharmony does suck, i dont like the fact that you cant browse profiles yourself , and the folks that did have good luck with it, i think it was just dumb luck, or maybe their age /location etc. there was very few for me... and they kept sending me ones from really far away , like in another state etc and i had distance restrictions which were ignored.... also, i would like to say true.com, they send out fake smiles or winks ,whatever they call it... i would get people saying im winking back at you, when i had never winked to begin with... (im thinking gosh , i wouldnt have winked at you if i had dirt in my eye...)

I haven't been an ejarm member for awhile now and they still send me matches. which the men also get saying I'm a possible so they believe I'm still a member. and tehy try and communicate when I'm not even there! so I believe eharm is commiting fraud, leading members to believe nonmebers are still there...pretty damn rude and disrespectful!

I'd never join a site that would have me as a member, lol.

Am I the only person on PoF that has never tried another dating site.

I agree, not only was I matched up to people I didn't care to date, they matched me up with people that lived across the country or in different countries. What a waste of money. It didn't take long for me to send them a nasty note and cancel my membership.

I also tried E Harmony and I too was very dissatisfied, with my experience there. They give you a stupid multiple choice "personality test", which they use to decide who you are. Keep in mind that for about 25% of the questions, none of the answers will come close to how you feel on a given subject. Then they take those answers and decide who you are.

Every woman I was matched up with, was an extreme left wing liberal. Most were vegans. Now, while I am a Libertarian and I do have some liberal views, none of the women that they matched me up with, were of any interest. Also, once they pigeon hole you from their test, there is no changing the results. You are stuck with the same matches and the same personalities that they think fit you.

The eHarmony online dating service features matching based on "Christian principles". If religion and more specifically Christianity is an important part of your life, then perhaps the matching system will work for you. Other wise, I would suggest that you avoid it. It is time and money wasted.

I'm on eHarmony. I have to agree. I have met more people on this free site than I have on the paid one.

eHarmony absolutely SUCKS.......it is the worst dating site ever. It's so easy for people to play games, and the stupid questions that you are limited to choose from ar so dumb. The steps it takes to actually get to talk with someone puts me to sleep, so many women don't even post a photo, [ why join a dating site] what a waist of time and effort. POF is free and easy I have meet the love of my life here.

I agree with janus_gate, you email someone, they read it, it stays "Read" for weeks and don't contact you. At least let me know if you're interested or not. But despite that, this site is still great because its free and you get more freedom to choose who you want to meet.

I couldn't agree more with the posters here. I joined eHarmony for three months and received 80+ matches. Decided to meet two of them....one lied about his infirmities and the other was just not someone who I could have a real relationship with...different values...I believe in monogamy! After conversation with a few men who have tried the site, I came to the conclusion that they match on age, smoking status and race. Personality and/or desires certainly don't seem to be considered.

[Match.com is also a rip off. After my subcription ran out I found I couln't open and read emails. No wonder I only got a couple of replies to my emails. Most of them were likely non paying members who couldn't even open their mail. I'm a few dollars poorer....but smarter]

Exactly what happened to me, a very expensive rip off, it should be illegal

Cooerced into joining by " well meaning", "concerned" friends... Best site for really "quality people".... soooooooooooooo not the case.... most of the old goats and geezers closed matches immediately before even "communicating" ... now THAT is depressing ..... having some wrinkled, shriveled, falsetooth wearing OLD and I mean Larry King OLD... say that the Chemistry isn't there... Honey.... you don't Have enough juice left to even Know what chemistry is>>>>>> Yikes, I could have gone to the Intensive Care Unit at Good Sam's and found better "matches"... just beyond ridiculous who their team of whomevers deem "matches", oh and how about the 350 lb gigundo who likes poetry.... I want a damn refund and I want it now.... WHATEVER.... I don't have to pay for a date.... never did and not starting now. POF is hysterical and has really smart, savvy people to choose from.... ok.... anybody have a lovely story about eharmony.get outyou suck.com.... wanna hear it..
