| Dinner and a movie...... Posted: 12/2/2006 7:06:10 AM | | I absolutely LOVE movies (especially old ones), but I agree, when I am meeting some one for the first time, I don't want to spend 2 hours in a dark theatre. I want to get to know them. As for bowling or miniature golf, I guess that would be okay, because there is plenty of opportunity to converse (I don't care one iota about competition). Ideally, strolling through a museum, the zoo, street fair, etc. would be far more appealing. Any place where we can take our time to learn more about one another; people watch; and just walk and talk is my idea of the ideal first date. | |

Wrestling match?!!! Good luck buddy.....dinner is fine.....but movie should be another date. Gotta get to know a person first. Movie first dates are lame. ;)
Well "Buddy" it was meant as a joke,. If you read the last part you would see it is "buddy" I think all in all each person will want to do something different than the next. Some women want to feel comfortable and have fun on a first date, others may want to sit in a quiet place for dinner, others a movie then drinks. No right or wrong answer.

| Dinner and a movie...... Posted: 12/2/2006 8:30:14 AM | Dinner and a movie is a fine date idea. Just a HORRIBLE first date idea. Maybe not as bad an idea as lets say you actually meet someone in person in passing let's say, you exchange numbers, then plan a date.
With internet first dates, there often is total misrepresentation of who someone is. From what I've read from women here on PoF, too many guys are balder, shorter, fatter, older, poorer than what his profile states. From my perspective, I'm not going to want to spend a 4 hour date with a woman who I am not attracted to for whatever reason: intelligence, personality, looks, etc. I can sense that within 5 minutes of meeting. In Real Life when you meet someone and you are attracted, you are taking that 5 minutes of face time and making an immediate judgment about potential chemistry.
I really think without face time you aren't going to know for sure about the chemistry. So it's real iffy to do a first internet date with dinner and a movie. Play down the "date" issues, make it more of a "meeting": coffee or a drink, something simple like sitting on a park bench when the weather is nice. Meeting for an ice cream cone in the summer. Think of simple things to do in your locale. Someplace where you can talk. You can't have a conversation in a movie theater.
Dinner and a movie is a great second date idea. Not a good first internet date idea.

Wow interesting how people are taking the OP's posting the wrong way. Seems everyone is getting the wrong impression there. Competing meaning fun competition not like you are trying to win the championship game or something. Oh and since when do you guys not ever compete? You sure are when you are trying to impress that girl when other guys are as well.
