I just have to ask if it hurt you? I have heard the surgery can be painful.

I wonder what a woman's problem is with taking the pill anyways?

Not everyone can take it and there are age restrictions.

Had one, don't worry guys it only hurts for a few days, the only weird thing about having it done is that your nuts swell up like these massive eggplants for about a week or so then they go back to normal so you can walk around letting people know that guys who have vasectomys have got bigger balls than guys who haven't gotten one.

it's not that bad, my x got it done as an outpatient, in a room with only a local, i could hear everything happening.
he was sore, but had to try it out that afternoon, it worked! i recall him saying day 7 was the worse. lotsa frozen peas and carrots.
think of what we go through to have babies! he didn't want anymore, and i might have, so he got it done, we were married.
my 2 cents!

I don't understand how this is sexy, it's an operational procedure. Apples and oranges.....Plus, there's alway condoms.

the sexiness factor comes into play b/c it's very freeing - if you are in a committed relationship and you both know each other's histories...you can have sex whenever/wherever the mood strikes you with your partner. you don't have to worry about condoms or if you remembered to take the pill or whether you have your diaphragm or whatever....worry free sex...whooo yooo!

condoms can really kill the spontaneity and mood. while they are absolutely essential when it comes to casual sex, if you are in a committed relationship with a partner where you might just be using the pill or something to prevent pregnancy (not preventing STD's cause neither of you have any), then condoms really suck.

i also think that it is a man's decision. he shouldn't do it just to please his partner - he should do it b/c he absolutely decides he doesn't want children. if there's any doubt about it -he shouldn't do it. the procedure shouldn't be taken lightly.

for me, men who have had vasectomies are infinitely more desirable as mates. since i'm not into casual sex and date men seriously and get to know them before becoming intimate with them, i love not worrying about getting pregnant. every method of birth control including the pill has a failure rate. and i don't want to have more children.

It is my understanding that it greatly increases the risks of prostate cancer.

The problem with the pill is it isn't 100% - and I've got a 30 year old and a 26 year old to prove it!

if you do not want more kids... it is the most responsible thing to do.

Pill is unreliable and does nasty things to a woman.

Vasectomy is pretty reliable, CAN HURT while its being done (hurt me), but I'm betting it hurts a lot less than delivering babies!

I had no idea a d*ck and b*lls could be handled so rough as to turn them purple with bruises - ouch! Of course, after all that was gone, and the waiting period was over (time for sperm to finally not be present), things are so much nicer. No condoms, no natural family planning (which is what we used - more reliable and much better for woman than pill). Just fun fun fun!

I'm not the cheating type, but that would also protect the cheating type from ever being told "you're a daddy"!

Yes there can be complications, but they are generally pretty minor.

I had an idea that someone (yes i figured it would be one of the girls) who would throw in the ahem... "look what we go thru having babies" line. I am glad I had it done anyway, it gives me piece of mind anyway that I won't be sending home women with somethin' in the oven.

I guess there are different types of the operation. I would not do it myself. I do have a friend who had it done (don't know what type), and he got testecular cancer. He beat the cancer, but he swears it was from his vasectomy. he said he allways had pain in the nads during sex after the operation.

Medically there's no explainable reason for getting cancer there in relation to a vasectomy.

Anyway, I got one, and I absolutely didn't enjoy the procedure or the recovery, but it has been worth it.

As for ongoing pain afterward, there's some chance that the severed tubes will heal themselves attached to the scrotum, and that can mean there is tension on the tubes all the time or just during arousal. It is not comfortable, but it can be fixed with another unfortunate visit to the doctor.

The biggest typical (but rare) risk is that the tubes that are severed happen to be the only (of 3 possible) connections that was carrying blood to the testicles. That means once the tubes are cut, no blood is now reaching them, and they (or one of them) requires... removal! But statistically it's a very small chance for one of them, and even smaller for both.

Had it done, and no regrets.......none at all.....

Had it done one morning, 15 minutes, went shopping with then gf that afternoon and lunch, had sex the first time 7 hours later, and again the next morning.......

No problem guys. It is quick, easy, cheap, and not nearly as bad as you think. Sure takes a load off the mind too, but there is no replacement for condoms.

Doc

That prostate cancer argument is bogus fellas......no medical foundation for it.

get off your asses and get it done! Takes nothing, and is much easier on us than the ladies.

I still have hopes of getting someone pregnant by accident, so I'm waiting a while yet. When I decide to have it done I'll save money by doing it myself with a string tide to the doorknob. I'm not sure what I should hook the other end of the string to yet. It should be something that can pull away quickly. Maybe a dingo.

It would be great if more men had vasectomies. Too many ugly kids running around.

PMS is a great source of evil one-liners.
