Hey! don't screw with my ancient thread! (duffy likes real fireplaces)

I love this fire on tv.. makes me happy....(as opposed to my real tv being really on fire... that would be bad)

I once live in a place where the electric fireplace turned into a waterfall when pipes burst. Thankfully fireplace was off at the time and we did not dare try it again!!!

I've had it on myself a couple of times, it's nice in the background when your just relaxing listening to tunes. And since my fire pit out back is buried under all this snow that's been coming down the last 12 hours, it's a lot warmer inside right now and I don't have to change the logs as the hand does it for me. lol

Yes it is comforting at times but not to be stared at but just for decoration.

I have yet to find the heat adjustment though

it's on channel 1 for shaw .... it's also on high def on channel 230

I agree about a real fire... but alas .. without setting something alight in the family home.. I'll have to do with seeing and hearing a fire without feeling or smelling it

next year... I hope to have a real one to sit by

I miss my fireplace. I only used it around this time of year because the kids liked it, but it did feel homey. I've been thinking of buying a portable fireplace, but I think I'll wait until next year. I rarely turn on the TV, but I think it would feel weird having a fire on it.

I took some NyQuil before the show. After about 10 minutes, the flames became somewhat hypnotic. The colors started blending together and I found myself drifting into a beautifully altered reality. Everything became clear to me in an instant. The reason why war exists, the seperation that exists between the sexes, the role of mankind in the universe, and the purpose of life all became clear to me. I found myself in a comfortable trance that lasted for hours. Unfortunately my roommate came home and found me with a tinfoil hat on, licking the television screen, chanting something in Gaelic.

Adding NyQuil to the shopping list!

Where did you see the portable fireplace, that actually emit real heat? We seen some online but they were not available to Canadians.

We had it on often during the day for the first 2 weeks of the month. The kids liked having it on in the background while doing their lessons. But once we started xmas break and the chaos of the holidays started the tv was rarely on, so no more fireplace for them.

They would yell out for each other to come running when the hand appeared, and when the screen jumped to the start of the loop again.

fyi - you can buy the dvd of "the fireplace" at walmart..

a co worker gave me that for xmas one year.. it was $9.99...

meanwhile I had spend about 3 times that much on her gift.. and felt how cheap she really was... .. i guess it is the thought that counts, huh?

On Thursday I noticed the Shaw Fireplace was back on again.
It seems like its earlier than usual this year.
Maybe to coincide with the US Thanksgiving?
No matter what the reason... after you go dashing through the snow...
You can now all warm your feet by the TV

I can't wait til they broadcast it in 3D.
How cool would that be?
Get all drunk from rum n eggnog and jump the fire without the worries of falling in like we did in the old days.

I love the Shaw fireplace and I get very excited when the mysterious hand appears! I wonder who that hand belongs to.
