| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/16/2007 10:12:05 AM | tater: i must admit i am not as dedicated as u r regarding chrome & polish..i am every bit as committed as u r to riding the scoots.. I have a 04 dresser with over 72K & a '00 softail with over 90K..i realize some just don't have the time to ride as much & that's the way it is..however, most people i have met who ride harleys wouldn't know a road trip if it bit them in the butt !!!! To those who are exceptions please keep ridin' & ur my kinda people...it's not about lookin cool, stylin & profilin for me..It's about miles on the odometer..Is he a biker?... check the odometer !!! LOL !!!!! Kinda like the old country song "don't call him a cowboy till u see him ride" my deal is a 30K Harley & tons of tees & leather DOESN'T make one a biker....Check the odometer !!!!!!!!!
that's for you bella..............my kinda gal!

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/16/2007 1:49:25 PM | ive got leather, its kinda a have to have deal most of the time here cuz of temps, but t's.....i might have 2 or 3, i cant see buyin a shirt that costs $20+ just to advertise a bike and impress people (plus 90% of the time i kinda laugh under my breath @ the ones wearin a H-D shirt, you can almost smell the poser ooozin out)
Odometer? YEAH BABY!! just finished the 81 FLHS oct 12 when i went on vacation (temps hung @ 50 and spit rain most of the 2 weeks i was off) but its readin 3796.3 right now (yes i just went out and looked )......btw, it was a new speedo on the 12th. THATS how ya break in a fresh motor and bike
bought the 95 softail sept 14, had 18,450 mile son it (sickening isint it?), reads 26417.2 now, oh, and nothins been moved since nov 21, weathers been shiiit (ice, then snow, then warm- when im gone, then cold, then ice, then snow....11" last nite, 35 mph winds now, wanna ride?? )
i dont remember the sportys miles, it prolly saw 2-300 for the summber, i only putt it around once in a blue moon for kicks.... i think its gonna be a lil trike real soon

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/16/2007 7:50:09 PM | Mr. Tater Salad, I see, yeah, he was all about projecting money, mainly to hook somebody with some. Wasn't just a chick thing then. Damn thing did cost a lot for all it sat there without ME riding on it. Thanks, and surely keep the pics of you and bikes, it's who you are, and a big part of your life, need to be honest about it. | Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/18/2007 4:16:28 PM | callin me "Mr" is like puttin an elevator in an outhouse....it just dont fit
Like the brilliant lady before me stated, if ya wanna find a biker, look @ the odometer. if hes on a 5 yr old bike showin under 20000 miles, hes NOT one.....infact, id say under 40000 at 5 yrs old, except i know some real riders that simply cant ride as much as theyd like due to family, work, health ect.
nothin wormg with lookin for a guy with a bike, i mean hell, im hopin to find someone who'll atleast ride on back, if she has her own, thats even better.... its all about the experience of the ride to me, it matters not what her riding position is be-it on mine or her own, w/e. Just dont get suckered by one flauntin the fact he can afford a H-D.
Wanna bust out a pozer before ya even meet him? Ask how many miles his "baby" has..... $100 says if hes legit he can rattle off a reasonable nuber in the blink of an eye, a pozer will be all "uh, im not sure.....6-7000?"
the guys i ride with i do all the work on their bikes for, a weekend rider will see 3-4000 miles a season, a vacationer will see 7-10000, a hard core, seat wearin out mo-fo will knock off upwards of 36000 a year. Just my experience before someone takes offense and bites my head off
LETS RIDE | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/19/2007 7:32:08 PM | | Tater: yep...check the miles on the clock !!!!! i happened to ask the local dealer where i go about the average mileage on a scoot..I was told average Floridian in this dealership puts about 2000- 2000 a year.. pretty lame if u ask me !!! U want to get fired up come down for bike week & see how many scoots are powering down the highway with florida tags..However, most of them are in the bed of the pickem up truck !!!! I guess i am too much a one track guy & that track would be ridin'... Your comments abt. knowing accurate miles is pretty good..Also i have found when talking to some posers they r proud of how FEW miles they have on their scoots !!! Whats with that attitude ?? I buy 'em to ride 'em !!!! they tell me it helps with resale value !! Go figure !!!! All these years i bought them for the wrong reason !! Silly me !!!! | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/23/2007 8:52:27 PM | | Scared? More likely bored. Harleys are too last decade - why not go out and get a few tattoos? Just as boring and mundane. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/23/2007 9:09:40 PM | bikerguy, i havent a clue where these people get their resale figures based on miles, last time i checked a bike with 100k thats been meticulously maintained and done up right brings just as much as the same bike with 30k.
im leary of a bike thats got 1/4-1/2 the miles it really should have myself, theres a reason a guy spends 40k on it, then doesnt ride it, only to claim he "lost interest", seen alot of factory defects get pawned off on unsuspecting buyers that way, especially the new twin cams.... lotta bottom end issues there.
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 7:20:43 AM | | Tater: u r correct about bottom ends.. i recently had a whole new bottom end under extended warranty in my 'o4 dresser.had only 73 K on it... the tensioners of the cam chains wear out...replaced them on both softail & dresser.. fixed the softail correctly with gear driven cams..the lost interest is the difference between a biker & poser !!! | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 7:45:30 AM | I myself loves Harleys. I own one a sporster 883, yes they call it a girls bike. I can't speak for all Harley riders, but for me it is not the destination it is the ride to get there. It is a sense of freedom when you are on those 2 wheels strolling the country side. The wind in your hair , the bugs in your teeth lol. I find any excuse to get on my scooter and scoot. So there are some women out there that are not afraid of Harleys. It used to be a stereotype of Bad Boys, but no more. I have meet some very prominent people who ride Harleys. Safe riding. | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 8:16:39 AM | goddessoflove, call it a girls bike if ya want, i have an 87 883xlh, and last time i stood up and pee'd i didnt feel much like a girl
im actually lookin @ a sweet trike kit for that one, just to be different i guess
bikerguy, i do more gear drives than anything anymore, especially when i do HUGE cams, i feel alot better knowin theres no cam walk that way, a lil slack in a chain when youre playin with @ tollerence clearence specs and you just bought a piston, a couple valves, and if your lucky a lil mud on your face and not an entire motor. i still do chain replacements on pre-twin cams, if the guys begs hard enough and is real clear (in writing) i dont warranty anything if it pukes, but those guys are fare and few between since i mounted a bored evo that had piston/valve interference on the shelf so they can see what could happen if that chain stretches just a tad...... lets just say when you stretch head bolts far enough to pop heads off you loose quite a bit of compression...... and last i heard, a harleys alot funner to ride than push down the shoulder

yep, in our lil group that gets together as much as we can, we have a superior court judge from a neighboring county, our countys deputy prosecutor, our town marshall, a nerologist from indy that rides to rensselaer (100 miles each way) twice a week as weather allows him to, the county building code inspector, and a few other "gentlemen" that dont fit the biker image.
did i mention the town marshall? yeah, 04 road king, supertrapp loudmothers pipes, NO BAFFLES!
the judge? 96 heritage springer, 104" on 2" open DRAG PIPES!
with friends like theres, well...... not too many loud pipes tickets in our area

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 9:50:38 AM | | hello , i starded this thread a long time ago. it has be turned around and talked about in many different ways.everyone has an open look. were i am from in florida women look at you if you ride as someone who rides drinks and drugs. i have been riding for 20+ years. like someone said in a earlier reply if any biker has to explain you probably wont understand anyway. RB | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 11:33:33 AM | | Lynda, RB & Tater: ya'll hit the nail on the head...Frankly, at this point in my life i choose not to hang out with folks that don't ride.. always exceptions but RB your comments about female preconceived ideas is, in my opinion, for the most part dead on.. I just move on by & not pay no mind to those individuals..I realize my interests r different ..I won't become an avid boater or golfer so why ever go there...Lynda said it right with the " if i have to explain" !!!! I respect others passions & i would hope others do the same with me & my decade old technology !!!!!!! Can't we all get along ????? | |
|
| |
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 11:54:09 AM | Smiles.........that would be me, harley77.........I often use Harley's signature quote........."If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand"..........Thanks for starting the thread!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/24/2007 12:27:16 PM | Lynda, i usually respond with what i do in the garage when ones runnin.... "Huh??"

| Are women scared off by Harley's Posted: 8/17/2008 6:42:32 PM | | no but I will tell you a smart man will be... nothing says "tool" or "consumer driven clone" like a woman on a harley... really when did this junk become cool? man every cop I know owns a harley so explain again- why are they so cool? | |
|
| Are women scared off by Harley's Posted: 8/20/2008 4:45:54 PM | Cops are cool, they get automatic weapons without having to deal with the Class 3 license!! Gotta luv a gal that has automatic weapons not to mention the handcuffs...hehehe
A woman who has a Harley 883 understands that she owns a $12,000 vibrator. They ride them for the sheer PLEASURE!! It's got nothing to do with being a consumer...it's all about the VIBES!!
You ain't had fun until you've dated a gal that can throw you around a bit And a Harley-riding gal can make your DAY and NIGHT!!
Of course, when I met my gal it was like the meeting in Lethal Weapon 3...we did a scar comparison that got just a little out of hand...next thing you know we're going to the Firing Range together...aikido lessons...even Father Lonnigan thinks we're going to have kids that come out fully armed from the WOMB!! Most folks compare it to Sgt's Tackelberry (me) & Callahan (her) getting together!!

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 8/21/2008 3:33:31 PM | I think women are more afraid of the crazy biker driver that has to prove himself by driving too crazy, weaving in and out of cars, and going too fast. I'm not afraid as long as I'm sure the man is careful. Motorcycles are an economical source of transportation so I expect to see more of them on the hiways and biways. Just hope that everyone gets their certification to ride and wished everyone wore a helmet. | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 8/22/2008 3:41:49 AM | | I don't personally like to ride on motorcycles. I've done it. I don't care for it. If I want open air, I drive my convertible. It's safer and I can put the top up if it rains. But I'm fine with my man riding a motorcycle. However, I think in these profiles if it seems like it is highlighted too much, then it is likely it's important to him and he will want me to be part of that and I'm not really interested in that. | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 8/23/2008 5:40:20 AM | | I think guys have a 50/50 chance of meeting a woman that rides. To some Harleys have become a status symbol while to others they are a life style and those people go their own way and do not care who likes it or not. I am not attracted to anyone that does anything just to be doing it or to be "cool". As for me I like women that are casual riders (can take it or leave it) cause I only ride once in a while close to home. peace, triumphman57 | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 8/24/2008 4:31:55 PM | | Well if i had a triumph I would only ride occasionally to and stay close to where i can push it back home easy enough...grins | |
