Hey twowheels where do I sign up for that Florida to Alaska ride. I promise to sit still and hold on tight. I used to be with a local club here and I loved every second of it. It isnt so much the man or the machine that I find alluring it's the freedom you feel. But it's not for everyone.

It's a long ride... 5,000 miles one way. I did it before when I was much younger.

It's the South American part of the trip that will be the real adventure!

Yes, the sense of freedom is remarkable. I commute to work (25 miles each way) every day on my bike and each day is adventure. My colleagues just don't understand. Their loss.

I'm more afraid of a man who drives a BMW.........like the joke goes........

What is the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?

A porcupine has it's pricks on the outside......
A BMW has it's pricks on the inside...........

Love the Bikes......and the people

my mom is definitely a harley snob...i guess the true bad boy bikers on harleys are...she and her buddies do make fun of the guys who ride other bikes

i date a lot of younger guys who ride racing bikes....i dont have a problem with that...i'm not going to get on it with them

i rode trail bikes and smaller bikes as a kid....while it was fun, frankly i prefered my horse....so if a guy had horses, wow that would be great as i miss having one

sorry but i've been engaged to a redneck country guy with rough hands...ugh...was married to a construction worker with rough hands...ugh...the redneck was sweet, but the rotting teeth, smoking, no interest in sex, changing jobs every six months, not able to read and write, obsession with nascar and wrestling, kind of got old

as for the construction worker, the slap across my head woke me up and i divorced him

not that they're all like that...well actually my real dad who left my mom for another woman and let my stepdad adopt me was also a construction worker, as is my brother who is a dead beat dad and drinks and does dope, ok so, the construction workers i know are not a very good bunch of folks...

wait we're way off topic here...haha...but hey, i like massages...soft hands are a must...unless my skin needs exfoliating

There was a time when pretty much every Harley rider could be considered a bad boy. Things have certainly changed. The Rich Urban Biker (RUB) phenomenon is an established trend within the Harley and Chopper community. New Harleys are expensive! That rugged looking fellow with the black leather jacket and bandana around his head and astride the shiny, new Softtail could very well be a dentist or a lawyer. Hell, he could even be a Nice Guy (tm)!

There is also the growing trend of women learning to ride and buying their own bikes. Talk about empowering! I would have NO problem dating a woman who rides. She just better keep up with me ;)

The baddest boys on bikes I know who ride are the sport bike guys. They are usually younger. Their bikes are obscenely powerful and fast. They are usually highly skilled riders and very individualistic. Sadly, they do take stupid risks and I always shake my head when I see them doing wheelies at 125MPH on I-95.

I do ride a lot. I'm not looking to make any kind of statement about my lifestyle, I just love to ride. I do wear all the armored gear (helmet, gloves, boots, jacket, pants) so I actually resemble Robocop when I ride. No matter, it's safer that way.

But remember, there ARE other motorcycles than Harleys.

It's not about the bike, it's about the person. There are Dr's, lawyers, presidents of companies and CEO's that ride. You have the spirit to feel the wind in your face and if someone your'e interested in doesn't then respect that. Not everyone likes the danger of a bike or has the spirit or the freedom you feel while riding. So if the person is with someone who likes to ride and they don't respect tat. RIDE on MAN!

well like i said it's my mom who says...if it's not a harley it doesn't count...i just know there are a lot of people who feel that way...my mom is all of five feet tall and had a bike lowered so she could ''fit'' it...and ride..she has a corvette too...she's a speed demon...haha..maybe where my daughter gets it from since they're both leos

and i've been so wanting to say this but have been reluctant...but can't resist not...so here goes

i love riding...just not on motorcycles

as far as biker "snobs" I've only experienced the exact opposite....yes Harley riders are EXTREMELy BIASED.....when it comes to "HARLEY DAVIDSON" there is no other bike....and in sport fun a Harley owner would of course make fun of any other person who does not ride a "Harley"....but do we not do the same thing when it comes to our favorite auto manufacturer or sports team, or even brand of clothing for some women....it doesn't mean they are snobs.....just prideful

this is my mom who is talking...not me...she's the harley girl who thinks nothing else will do, frankly i could care less about motorcycles, they mean nothing to me really

and as i said i do like to ride just not bikes...i prefer something warm and alive...haha...used to love riding horses...

but as to the other things you mentioned...i actually do know people here in jax...u know southern georgia here...who argue over is ford or chevy better...my mom goes with her chevys....they do argue over teams....as i so clearly hear every monday morning how Oakland has yet again lost another game....and that i should find a new team...NOT...and the kids...all they do is make fun of each other based on the clothes they wear...the kids who can't afford name brand are just out of luck...they get picked on relentlessly...no matter how stupid we tell them it is to do so

I give Harley Davidson tremendous credit for turning around a company and establishing themselves as the leading American motorcycle manufacturer.

There was a time when a Harley was considered a very low quality motorcycle. They were considered very unreliable. But with some serious engineering and alot of effort, HD pulled itself from the brink and now the bikes are very reliable and very high quality. Expensive, but good.

Harley also did a masterful job of marketing the lifestyle. With HOG groups all over the country and huge biker events (Daytona, anyone?), buying a Harley means to become part of a vibrant and active social community. Harley has actually managed to rescue motorcycling as a sport and social activity in this country. The Japanese manufacturers are clueless when it comes to marketing. All those guys can do is make Harley clones and ride the coattails of Harley in that market segment.

Why all this praise for Harley from a guy who rides a Suzuki? Never argue with success. I'll never actually own a Harley but I always wave to Harley people when I'm out riding. Hell, I wave at EVERY motorcyclist when I'm out riding.

Anyone want to go riding?

I prefer to hear someone speak to me or to listen to music when I'm on the road. When I want to hear an engine roar, it better be mine when I hit the accelerator.

I hope not, I ride and have since I was 18. Its like tattoos. People are to quick to judge before they even know a person. Guess it makes them feel better about themselves. By putting others down they think they are better. I got a tattoo so I could keep those people out of my life. Thank God it does. I don't have time, nor do I want to, sort through a lot of people to see who is sincere and real.

Motorcycles are a life style and Harley's are a sub-culture of that. Not a snub culture...

Men who ride Harley's don't scare me....I love them! In fact I want to buy one myself. I got my motorcycle endorsement back in October and am saving as we speak for a bike of my own....Most guys who ride nowadays are clean cut and not the stereotype of years ago. I love Harleys....bring em on!

I love motorcycles, I have my endorsement..............that is one thing my ex and I both loved to do. I miss riding for the most part, love being a passenger, love the sunday rides on the back roads to someplace to eat or even as a group. No rides for 3 years, that how long we've been divorced.

Not open-minded women. I'm a professional woman who had her own Harley until 18 months ago when I lost it in "THE SPLIT".

Truly, if she's the kind of gal who would automatically stereotype a bike rider, you'd probably want to look elsewhere anyway.

Keep the shiny side up!
