Your resentment is obvious. Gee! LMAO!

WELL - the QUESTION was asked if women are scared off by harleys..............AND.......we heard the answers! "Obviously" you feel strongly about YOUR position; nothing wrong with that!! However - in a FORUM - you are going to find people with different points of view!

I know that I made the comment about encountering bikers in the mountains whose 'lifestyle' I didn't appreciate! Frankly, they scared the >>>>>>>>>out of me! I couldn't get out of there fast enough!

In support of what YOU are saying, I have also encountered groups of business men and their wives (for that matter) who are basically weekend riders and they were a great group of folks!

I just 'personally' do not like 'bikes'! That is NOT to say that I have NOT met people who DO like bikes who are not good people!

I used to be rather indifferent about motorcycles and still feel they probably have their safe places, but South Florida is not one of them. A few months ago a fellow I knew was killed riding his bike on I-95 and his girlfriend has had multiple surgeries and is still in rehab trying to walk again. The roads in South Florida are just so dangerous with the seniors that can't see or hear, the immigrants that can't read signs in English, tourists that are lost and "poor little rich kids" that have the money to buy the fastest cars on the planet, but not the responsibility to drive them safely. Around here I don't think it is IF someone will be hurt riding a motorcycle, but WHEN they will be hurt. JMHO, but in South Florida, if women are not scared off by Harleys, they should be.

No problem with different points of view. Personally I encourage it. Just putting some real information out there. An illinformed point of view is worthless to those wishing to learn anything. Then there are those that offer no point of view other than ill-will such as "attackkatt"

As for you not liking bikes, that is your choice. Too bad you had one bad expierance to base it off of. It is not always like that. But I will not say it is a charm school either. There are bad groups in all aspects of life. Just like picking out a lawyer, only with them, there is less of a chance of getting a good one. (That is a joke for all you law dogs out there)

I'm a lifelong rider (without any particular brand loyalty, I've owned & enjoyed 'em all)...but i have to agree w/ Wannadance.

SoFlo is crazy bad for motorcyclists....not to mention it's too dang hot to wear proper gear. I love N. Florida riding where the traffic is thin & the weather is cool!

I agree with Wanna too. Was riding my Honda on a back road near Eglin AFB when this 4x4 truck came out of the woods and almost ran me off the road. Sold my bike the next day.

As for as women scared off by Harleys, I disagree. I see many women's profiles that state that they like to ride motor bikes. Some say Harleys and some just mention bikes in general. Even found some that have their own Harleys.

As far as Harley riders go, there are many types of people they own them. From the backyard redneck mechanic to the upscale business people and in between. Can't judge a person for owning or riding a Harley as to the character of that person.

For all the non "fraidy cats" (both men and women) is anyone planning any POF gatherings in Daytona for Bike Week? It's coming up very soon (Feburary 28th thru March 8th)

"fraidy cats"???

Ok, want to bungy jump? Want to sky dive? Want to walk with me in the swamps with the gators and snakes? All these might be safer than on a bike in this day and time.

What we said was that in Fla (and also many other places) that drivers and road conditions make it "unsafe" for bike riders. Common sense prevails in this, not if you are afraid or not.

No I don't want to bungee jump, and I did all the skydiving I care to do in my flashy OD greens 30 years ago.

I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale through the 90's and recognize there are places in South Florida where a motorcycle is not the best choice for primary transportation. I would no more consider riding a motorcycle in rush hour in Miami than I would consider wading in an alligator infested swamp with raw chicken stuffed in my underwear... Common sense needs to come into play in everything, and trying to apply it to motorcycle safety only is somewhat myopic, in that those same "dangers" can just as readily impact you as a pedestrian, bicyclist, or even in a 4 wheeled vehicle while on your way to bungee jump or skydive (and occasionally sitting in your favorite chair sitting in the living room watching TV). Yes I did ride my bike down there, made many trips to the Keys and (knock wood) never had an accident, and it wasn't because all of those things you fear didn't exist, it was because I, using common sense, recognized their existance and took steps to minimize their potential impact on me.

Now then, about Daytona and Bike Week... is anyone planning anything this year? Last year they'd planned something at the Iron Horse, but apparently I got there late and missed them all.

I'm not afraid of Harleys :-) I love them !

I'm afraid of those young kids on crotch rockets doing wheeleys at 90 miles an hour down the road. Saw one die from it just a few months ago. They are riding unsafe and are giving the rest of the safe riders a bad rep because the non-bike lovers complain about them and lump ALL riders into the bad bike riders category but never compliment the safe responsible riders.

or you can be a safe rider like me (no accidents in 13 years until this incident) and get hit by a crotch rocket while riding a harley the sunday before thanksgiving last year. what a mess, and id never guessed plastic could hit that hard. typical 22 yr old kid, permit only, rear-ends me, you can guess the rest.
