| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/28/2006 11:18:21 AM | I dont think so. From what I m see inbio's is the Ladies are wanting more of the Motorcyles. Put me at a disadvantage..But if its what they crave from what they should have or could have, they are into it..look in the bio's either they ride or are lookin to ride.. whats the problem. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/31/2006 6:53:16 AM | | If a man has a BOAT , or his pet in his profile photo line-up, great. But a motorcycle??? Forget it with me. | |
|
| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/31/2006 6:55:36 AM | You are at an ADvantage with me, since I think it looks like a mid-life crisis attack when men have their motorcycles in photos or mentioned in profiles...of course it warns me away from them | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 12/31/2006 7:00:33 AM | | Some of us woman are not scared off by the Harley, but by the fact, that if its your only means of transport, It can put a damper on a dress up evening. A bike can be fun, but as an episode that happened on Sex in the city, a woman going to a dress up party, arrives looking windblown. So this may scare off some. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/1/2007 9:12:17 AM | | I don't post on these at all, however, I felt the need to put my 2 cents worth in on this. If you ride, there is not one darn thing wrong with having a picture of your motorcycle on here. It's part of what makes you...you...why be something you're not or hide that fact? If a woman doesn't like it, too bad..she is not the one for you anyway and you should keep looking. There are women out there who like motorcycles and have a sense of adventure. Find one! | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/1/2007 9:12:32 AM | | To add to some remarks, first off i think honesty is very important . so not telling someone you ride a harley wouldnt be the right thing to do ,but a boat is ok to fish lol , next i have means of transportation my bike is for play time, wouldnt want to mess up someones hair now would we lol there are some unreal comments here, just cant belive how shallow some people are. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/1/2007 10:25:10 AM | | I think harleys are awesome... I feel free and happy and closer to my man when on one with him. He has my life in his hands. So for me I feel great being on one but i want him to respect his bike as much as he respects me. Lets ride | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/1/2007 1:56:08 PM | | I also ride a "non-harley" as well... I prefer European bikes to their American Counterparts. Since the advent of the "Evolution", Harley's re-designed powerplant, the HD actually is a very good Motorcycle... but American and European styling are two entirely different animals. A Heritage is a beautiful bike but for me, a classic Italian bike such as a Moto-Guzzi, is something that moves me deep inside... I scored an old BMW in Scottsdale years ago and rode that thing for 8 years before I lost it in a house fire. It was a strong motorcycle with alot of character, and it handled unbelievabely well for a machine from that era, but one thing I absolutley loved about it was its "balance". I could come to a complete stop and balance this bike for several seconds without taking my feet off the pegs... this eventually allowed me to do "rolling stops" around town and eventually developed into a very exhilirating riding style which I must admit, I really miss. Several years ago, Triumph introduced, or re-introduced the Bonneville back to the market.. they even manufactured a Bonneville with a raked front end and inverted forks and called it the "Bonneville-America". This bike was so cool because it captured, and quite well both American and European styling in one package.. not badly priced either, ~9K.. anyway, I had to have one of these so I bought one in '03 and have been riding it ever since. So, if you're a female and you're "scared" of Harleys, you gotta check these bikes out.. Triumph even came out with an old school "Scrambler" last year which is sooooo James Dean its not even funny!!! Also check out Ducati's retro models.. very cool and very European.. this line of bikes are reminiscent of the original "cafe" racers where riders would scramble through cobblestone streets across the Italian country-side so as not to be the last one to arrive at the cafe and have to buy everyone a round of espresso! | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/1/2007 2:11:41 PM | I too can't speak for other women on the subject of "women scared off by harleys". I love riding on the back on one, even though I never really ever learn how to ride one by myself. They are awesome. Yes, unfortunately, they from some in the past did leave a reputation, but as of today, it should have been different. So, enjoy your Harley, and one day, maybe some woman might just need a ride....lol.
Have a happy new year! | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/1/2007 2:50:43 PM | If I can ad my 2 cents.....I have been looking for a Harley rider to correspond with. I have been on Harleys for oh so long. My ex was a harley rider. Now that he is gone I am without. I am always searching for site's containing Harley people. It's what each person wants in their life. Your right the public judge's us by what we look like. But I'll bet you that if you should break down on the side of the road you just might find a Harley rider offering help before others. Hey my nick name is Crazy Lady. So from one crazy/silly person to a reelcrazy person this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Ride safe. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/3/2007 5:43:50 AM | I love this topic! It generally floats around a couple of times a year and everyone comes out of the woodwork to comment on it... I have been riding for almost 40 years (yes I started at 7 or 8 with mini-bikes) and have been through nearly every manufacturer looking for "the" quintessential machine ... I've discovered it doesn't exist. As we grow and change physically, we also grow and change mentally, so what was "perfect" in 1978, doesn't seem to fit in 1985 or 1999 or 2007. One thing I have noticed is that true motorcycle enthusiasts (not bikers) are as down to earth as farmers (not white trash rednecks portrayed on Springer). In this thread I've read drivel from people who apparently love to stereotype that motorcycle riders are either lice ridden ne'er-do-wells, or snobs, and all construction workers are drug addicts and spouse abusing drunks, but not so much on topic, that of course being whether or not women are scared off by HD's... SOME people are afraid of motorcycles, just as some are afraid of bugs and the dark. There seldom is a good or valid reason for the fear, it just exists. I still have my very first HD, a 1985 Ironhead in mint condition (slightly customized), I currently ride a 1999 Indian Chief in factory condition. Motorcycles are a fantastic means of alternative transportation PERIOD. Trying to equate a motorcycle enthusiast to a biker is no different than equating all automobile enthusiasts with a mullet wearing NASCAR fan or a champagne sipping LeMans fan. Few people are so overwhelmed by their recreational choices that it takes over their life to a point where they can't separate reality from fantasy. Bikers of old are just that, something part of our past, much like cowboys and pirates. Of course there will always be a few trapped in some sort of twisted romantic fantasy, but you would think intelligent people had the ability to distinguish the difference. For the pseudo intellectuals that can’t, there are very few bikers, cowboys and pirates that tote around laptops with wireless capability, and even fewer that frequent internet café’s, so the likleyhood of running into a true 1%er on POF is about as likely as being buffaloed by Wyatt Earp or Shanghaied by BlackBeard. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/3/2007 8:00:32 AM | Me, scared. Not. I would ride on the back of anyones bike. But I truly perfer the freedom and control I have when I am riding my own.
Especially since I have found a little device called the blinker buddy. Makes me seat vib when I have left my blinder on too long.....:-P
You are so right, I haven't found any of those ol' days bikers, out there. Last year the statistics stated that 48% of bikes sold were purchased by women. The year before it was only 25%.
I don't think anyone or woman would be afraid of a Harley if that had the skill and means to ride their own.
Here's one for you.....I love to ride and I prefer it over riding in a cage anyday. Wilma | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/3/2007 10:08:19 AM | i can only say this,,,i could not imagine my life without riding.it is my therapy.its a way to feel as one within yourself.a feeling i can not explain.you either have it in you or you dont...my only beef is the amatures who ride as a status symbol. | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/3/2007 11:14:13 AM | | I resent that. Its only like this:you are who you are.You try to portray an image.cloths do not make anyone any different. Its how you let others receive you.like an actress or lawyer.its all in your motions and how you allow others to receive you.does that make sence?also,I ride almost every day.do i look like a biker?I dont think so.but I only do what makes me comfortable. If your not comfortable with yourself. How can others be?a little deep?I dont think so!BUT | |

| Are women scared off by harleys Posted: 1/3/2007 12:54:16 PM | | good point mark , i cant belive someone would say its a midlife crisis , guess i was midlife at 20 when i got my first one. then to go on and say not to post it , thats like not being honest about who you are, us riders enjoy what we do ,that dont make us hard core bikers. So thanks for all the wonderfull comments , and the women who ride know what type of men ride, the ones who dont are just missing out. | |
