Why do girls say they don't smoke... when they really do?

Just like people lie about their weight, height, job or personality they lie about smoking because they are not the honest person they claim to be...........

If I say I don't do drugs and yet I take prescription medication (no, I don't take anti-psychotics) I should have selected yes? Would that also apply to vitamins or herbal remedies? Or does do drugs mean I'm not/or am taking/smoking something illegal? I guess I'm not reading enough into those simple questions...........................

"Do you smoke"

Cigarrettes: No
Marijuana: No
Other illicit drugs: No
Pipe Tobacco: No
Catnip: No
Cigars: Once in a blue moon....

Once in a blue moon doesn't = smoker.

A smoker is someone who smokes more than once a year.

okay, my profile said that I didn't smoke and at that point I didn't I quit for like a month, but then I started again and I forgot to change it though it has been changed now. maybe some of them don't mean to be decieving its just that they haven't changed it yet, but why would they lie? perhaps they are ashamed of it?

The worst part is when they put "prefer not to say" to that question....if she's not honest enough to admit that she smokes then she's probably not honest about lots of other things too

I realize your question is old, but I just discovered it. Women lie because they are complicated. "I smoke when the cute guy next to me at the bar is smoking and I need a reason to talk to him" isn't one of the options in the drop down menu. Women often can't categorize how we do things into a one or two word description. In the instance above, a man would probably say "occasionally". Not so for women, that is more like situationally, the smoking would depend on the situation. To a women it means she doesn't really smoke, but it depends on the situation. hhmmm if "situationally" were an option, at least you would be able to filter out the women who smoke occasionally. Complicated, I know, blame the estrogen.

I have a question along the same line. Marijuana is still a drug, right? Why do pot smokers say they don't do drugs?

They say they don't smoke on the profile because they know that smoking is an automatic exclusion on many people's message rules.

Then they make up the excuses for the profile lie because they know they are going to get caught.

But they don't think about the fact that some people will see the "little white lie" about smoking as an indicator of thier overall honesty.

If you can't be honest about something that is going to be so obvious... then what can you be trusted about?

BTW... look up the meaning of "blue moon"... they can happen more than once a year.

Any "prefer not to say" = the worst possible but in denial.

What do you mean by "when they really do"? How often did they smoke??

Okay, I had to sit here for a second and calm myself down from this silly little post that has gone absolutely haywire!!!

A question to all who say "Oh, they lie, and if they lie about that then what, or one or two doesn't matter you're still considered a smoker, or YADDA YADDA YADDA and so on and so forth".....Did you or have you EVER smoked in your life???? If the answer is NO, Then back off on your little **** parade about smokers.

That drives me absolutely crazy when non-smokers critique any smoker for their habit. It took me years to finally stop smoking and am VERY proud of myself to do that. It is a habit and a habit that is hard to break!

I have Non-smoker on my profile because I do not consider myself a smoker, although after 6 months of not smoking I did have A cigarette 2 months ago after being in a minor accident. So are you saying that if you Gamble once or twice a year, you should go to Gamblers Annoynomous...because after all, you DID gamble!!!!!!!?

first of all, i must say that while reading this i had to light up a cigarette. secondly, smoking is a personal choice. if u love someone, u love the good and the bad. and thirdly, relationships between smokers and non-smokers can and do work. if its that much of an annoyance to u then u dont have to tolerate it. and finally, y would u lie???? u want ppl to know the real u.
