| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/5/2005 11:26:51 PM | HAHANOW quote "it's called dope for a reason"
I would go for the chick who just smoked a dube once in a while. She knows how to relax--lol.
Let me tell you my story High school--almost did not grad. Was a playboy, did not care much about grades--did not smoke pot.
Two years off before college--smoked a lot of pot then--just a little community college, but I paid for it. Got a technical degree---- high
Got two Batch degrees in engineering----high -----with a 3.2 average I believe.
Started a little side business----high
I don't smoke it much anymore--too damn busy.
The achievments--nothing grand, I know----- but how much of a hinderance is it really??---It depends on the core person doing it. If he/she is a loser, they were gonna be a loser anyway. Somebody who has some goals will still achieve them. (just like the rest of the population)---but May be, I could have been a lawyer---damn!!---May be, I still will. :)

| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/6/2005 6:31:58 AM | ^^^^^^^ @ cuterguy I agree. I'm not a pot smoker although I tried it a few times as a teenager. I never smoked an entire joint. It was simply a curiosity thing for me. I wanted to see first hand what the big deal was. There's certainly a difference between a person who smokes on joint per week and another who smokes 4 or 5 joints per day. In the long run I do believe it will take it's affect on someone. I'm no doctor but I've seen the classic pot heads who have no ambition. They are always in another world (stunned). They seem to have no drive or ambition. That's been my observation. I'm not saying all people who smoke pot are like that. You seem to have done pretty well in spite of it. You made it through high school and college. | |

a two pack a week smoker is ALOT ... hell when it comes to cigarettes 2 cigs a week is alot for me. I don't smoke weed anymore but I still see why SOME people do it...don't condone it and would do everything within me to keep my lil brother away from it (therefore I really wouldn't be with someone that does it) but I'll go with a joint smoker over a cigarette smoker any day...regardless of the amount.

Some people who smoke pot are totally against smoking cigarettes and would consider themselves non smokers if you were to ask them. Others are chain smokers but don't smoke pot so will not categorize themselves as pot smokers. So you can smoke pot and be a non smoker. When I think of the word SMOKER I usually associate it with cigarettes. That's just my opinion.

| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/6/2005 8:33:41 AM | I'm gonna take a guesstamation here and say that the majority of ppl who smoke a joint a week are also cigarette smokers. But, the joint a week smoker is not necessarily a 2 pack a day cigarette smoker.
Sooo the actual topic heading, taken literally, probably would only account for a very very very small percentage of ppl period.
Also, I wonder...on the profiles at websites like this when the choices for smoking cigarettes is "occassionally" , "often"... what does occassionally mean? I figure if someone smokes even a pack a week, that would be often. But, I think a lot of ppl put 'occassionaly' (even if they smoke everyday) because it will attract more of the opposite sex (who are non smokers) than if the choice of 'often' is selected.

The reason I say this is because when I was meeting guys in person from the internet..(using was due to the fact that I've met someone who is coming here from almost 3000 miles away and right now, I'm satisfied to see where that goes)...sooo, the ones I have met out who had 'occassionally' on their profiles, ended up smoking at least a few (even if it's under 1/2 a pack) a day, every day at some point. To me, imho, that would equate to 'often'.
And, everyone I know who does partake of joints.. is never simply one a week. It may not be very often at all...but, none I know is limited to a single joint a week.

With this type of thread topic, it makes sense when giving a response to give those type of details. Appreciate your clarification.
OT: I prefer smokers... occassionally or often... either/or. And, somone who smokes a joint a week is cool too.
The only time I get "heated" in a discussion is when posters degrade smokers for their choice. Responses can be provided without it getting mean spirited. Plus, those who degrade others should get their "facts" straight first.

| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/14/2005 9:13:58 PM | well, I'm a smoker of both... not really sure if its safe to stick my head into this one, but what the hell... lol
health wise, smoking weed is not as bad for the body as smoking cigarettes. But they are both hard on your lungs and aren't the way to live a long healthy life... lol
there are also people who dont smoke weed, but use it in other ways, such as using a vaporizer (doesn't burn it, no smoke), just thc vapours....
'smoking' has picked up the common meaning of smoking tobacco products... a smoker smokes cigarettes a toker smokes weed...
about the smell... I just bought a house with a front sitting porch thats enclosed, with windows all around it... once we had started moving things in I only smoked in the porch with the windows open... I didn't notice it at first, but by about the third day I was out in the porch and had closed the windows to stop mosquitos and I came back into the house and hit a wall of fresh air... I made a coffee and headed back out to the porch only to realize that I would much rather put up with the mosquito's then the smell of smoke in the air... my point is that if you smoke, you make everything you smoke around smell like stale tobacco which is a really horrid smell... even if you dont realize it....

| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/14/2005 9:45:30 PM | I don't know to be honest. Truth be told though, at two packs a day I seriously doubt I'm going to find her very attractive. What's more, who the hell smokes two packs a day anymore? I smoke but even I wouldn't want to smoke that much. Not by a long shot. Still, I can't say I have any problem with people who smoke dope as long as they don't do it every day or otherwise to excess. I don't do it myself anymore but meh, it's no worse than alcohol.
Weighted and biased question though. What you should really have done is said something more along the lines of : Two packs of smokes a day or a half ounce of pot a day. Then you're comparing apples to apples since they're both quite excessive. And I can testify to the fact that there are definitely people who smoke that much weed on a daily basis.

| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/14/2005 9:50:33 PM | ^^^^^^^^ @ Gotapulse I did choose two extremes. Some people hate cigarettes so much that will tolerate one joint a week even though they are against drugs. The people who can't tolerate pot will choose two packs of cigarettes a day because of their personal beliefs on drugs. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense. I was curious to see what the responses would be. | |

| Choice - a person who smokes 2 pks of cigarettes/day or a non smoker who smokes 1 joint a week Posted: 7/14/2005 10:01:50 PM | Sorry but we disagree on this. I didn't say extremes, I said excess. The two packs of smokes a day is generally considered excessive. One joint a week is not considered excessive generally. Either you have to say people who smoke a pack a week or a half ounce a day to make them equal in terms of general opinion. You're right in that some people hate smoke just that much or drugs that much but that's beside my point. Generally speaking, nobody is going to call a joint a week alot of drugs. Two packs of smokes a day is definitely in that category.
The extremes you're referring to are the people who view it the way you describe. Your question was concerning which one people would choose. That's different from the overuse of these two particular drugs. What I said is that you've have given two examples but in one the usage is excessive but in the other the usage is, if anything, rather minimal.
Do you see what I'm getting at now?
