| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/18/2006 7:38:52 AM | I think i have made my Vote clear that i DO WISH for this to be Moved~
I don't believe i can add anything that has not been said already, Kathrine has been nothing but awesome and we do love her personality so if we can stick there, that'll be great.
For the talk that is coming about that Kabannas should be given a chance to explain and a 2nd chance? What truly is there to explain, they ripped us off at the very last min, were completely unprepared AGAIN although given 2 months notice? That i would like explained to ME and all on here what you hope to get accomplished by going there again.
IN MY OPINION only of course the biggest payback for all this is for NOT ONE single person to show up on Wednesday and i believe ONLY then will he realize the long term effects of his actions.

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/18/2006 7:58:41 AM | | I liked the idea of attending a different venue in the city every week .Perhaps after a couple of months a favourite will emerge and would earn the right to host a POF group. As far as I can tell from the posts what most of the Kareokers want is simply to be treated in a fair manner, something which obviously hasn't happened at your last place. To continue supporting a business that blatantly abuses you makes you a serial victim.Find a bar that appreciates your hard earned money ,I'm sure there are plenty of places here in Calgary. | |

I could not agree more. Some people just do not get it unless it affects them at a very basic level. This guy appears to be all about the money, so give it to him where he will understand the implications of what he just did. Give it to him in the pocketbook. He will be stocking up on beer and having one or two extra wait staff. He will understand it when he has to pay for those things.

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/18/2006 10:39:36 AM | | I agree with Seymour entirely, but his comments only illustrate a previous point I made. It will be difficult to find a place which will cater specifically to the needs of a group on a regular night, precisely BECAUSE the group can and will stop showing up anytime they please. Thus, a slow location which can't reliably meet the needs, or a busy one which PoF can't own. Either that, or make reservations every week. | |

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/23/2006 1:49:04 PM | Casey:
Not a big place, but for about 30 or 40 people, not a bad size.
I think that any place that is that "cosy" might not be big enough for the pof crew. As well, 25 cent wings are not really that much of a deal since you can go just about anywhere for that.
As for changing the venue from Kabanas...I was not there at the party, but in hearing what happenned and all the problems that have been in the past, I too vote to move the venue.
I know, I know that there will be inherent problems with any venue, BUT and I stress that, committments are committments. I think for them to start pulling the wool over us after all the busines that we have brought their way is inexcuseable. I personally have waited extreme times for food and drinks or even someone to ask about it whether I was at the bar or on the floor at a table. There also have been many times that they have even forgotten to even order me what I wanted.
I agree with the changing prices, the lack of service and all the other things. I was in there last wed before bootleggers and the place was EMPTY. I agree that the only way to make them realize is to hit them in the pocket book.
I think Cat is wonderful for her KJ skills and was really hurting when we were not there. I vote to make it somewhere where at least we will be appreciated and that people can find parking as well as easy to get to.
Just not on a Monday night as Limericks rules for wings.
My thoughts. | |

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/23/2006 5:05:47 PM | Hey Mr. Calgman, I believe the Deerfoot Casino has Karaoke either on Friday or Saturday nights. Might be another place to check out. | |
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/23/2006 10:31:15 PM | As another "northerner" myself as much as i do enjoy driving i Do Not enjoy having to pay through the teeth for my treks to the south. granted Ogden wasnt that far south but reguardless somewhere More central or even further north would be great, that joint near sunnyside sounds cool. -Brad | |

I've been to the Deerfoot Casino Karaoke....its very small venue & doesn't fit alot of ppl.
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/23/2006 11:31:45 PM | I'll second that Brad. I've heard alot of comments when suggestions are made for these far south locations, along the lines of "Oh that's great! That's just down the street from my place. I can practically walk home!"
For us "northerners" we have never nor likely WILL ever have that convenience nor do we expect it.
POF members reside in ALL quadrants of the city and a central location is much more equitable for all members who wish to attend the events. As it is right now, EVERY regular event is in the south and every major party has been held in a south location.

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/24/2006 12:43:31 AM | I do believe the only way to satisfy everyone will be to hold weekly karaoke on the center street bridge (you know, the one over the river). Parking is a bit of a pain, but it's about as central as you can get. | |

So where is it being held this week since tomorrow IS Wednesday? Are we going to somehow get the cops to close Center Street...lol or we gonna go somewhere warm and enjoy ourselves?

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/26/2006 8:57:49 PM | | Center Street bridge sounds good to me..... Annoyingly bad singers can be tossed overboard!!!! In other words, I m not singing..... | |
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/26/2006 9:24:32 PM | | My usual server at Juliet's is very good. The new girl has potential. One of the crappier ones is behind the bar now, out of the way. Personally, I wouldn't look forward to the large PoF crowds. Smaller than we used to have and bigger than currently would be great, but the larger the crowd, the farther away I'll be anyway! | |
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/27/2006 7:13:53 AM | I did make a quick pit-stop in at "the castle" with Frogo here a while back & shot a bit of the breeze, and it isnt all that bad in the least. my service was most exellent. Suprisingly. looks like some work was done to serve better there? im not sure. But Karl is still up, kickin and bouncing the place as per usual. I wouldnt mind hitting that place up again sometime myself, that is Next week when i get back from Lethbridge. -Brad | |

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/27/2006 10:30:52 AM | SO...with all that being said....
Where is Karaoke tonight, go my voice back and I want to scare you all!!!!!

| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/27/2006 10:40:32 AM | Some of us just will not go back to Juliets. I have given them three chances each time saying I will not go back.
Three strikes...they're out! (For me anyhow)
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/27/2006 10:40:46 AM | I'm planning on going there tonight. Missed a few weeks due to other obligations but this week's looking promising. | |
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/27/2006 10:42:26 AM | | Well being that it is wednesday...and no one has come forth with a place.... But eh, if someone has a better idea, they can say it. I was thinking since no one mentioned a place that maybe for this week only it would be ok. | |
|
| new venue for karaoke Posted: 12/27/2006 10:42:51 AM | I will be sittting this one out and maybe all Wed nights now....I won't step foot in Juliettes...now or in five years from now......
I don't think its fair that after all is said and done Ppl are now going to be going back and giving Juliettes a third shot at PoFerdom!......Does this mean in a few months time we will be going back to either Woodys south or Kabanas???......
If Juliettes is the NEW Wed hang out for singing....Guess Blue Eyes is just going to have to sing to me in the shower....
