| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/21/2006 1:02:10 PM | I realised I forgot to buy my dad the "Best of Deep Purple" CD he wants so I venture into Walmart today ( What a nightmare) I think " I'm done, thats it I am not going anywhere else no matter what"
I settle in to wrap my godson's and goddaughter's presents and I realise .... I have no fvcking tape, no where in my house do I have tape, not scotch, masking, electrical or even duct tape. I am frustrated beyond all belief thinking I have to go out again .... and then I spot it .... my superglue ... I just spent almost two hours supergluing all my gifts instead of using tape and I am FINALLY IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!!!! I laughed so hard at myself!!
Played some Christmas tunes, sang along, baked some damn cookies even. So better late then never!!!! I start my annual across province Christmas roadtrip tomorrow at 5am ... so I am glad it showed up!!!!!
MERRY FREAKING CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/21/2006 5:48:34 PM | | EXCUSE ME T-GURL BUT LOVE IS A CHRISTIAN CONCEPT .IN FACT CHRIST BASED MOST OF HIS LIFE ON LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER | |
|
| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/21/2006 8:04:31 PM | ^^^ Ummmm, there was no love in the world, for 25000+ years, before Christ? That's kind of depressing, or just bullshit.
Peace | |

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/21/2006 8:19:53 PM | Equinox?????
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Love is a Christian concept??? So no one loved before Christianity???? No one who is not a Christian is capable of loving???? Please Lawd tell me that's not what you meant because if that is what you meant, I think you have to bet in touch with a bit of reality. Love is a NATURAL thing ALL Human's feel. Christian, Muslim, Jew, Athiest, Buddhist, Satanist, Pianist ...
Love is a Christian Concept. Bullsh*t. Yes, the Good Book Preaches to love all over the place, but the good book is also full of violence, bigotry, Begatting, Revenge, hate, death, fear and loathing. Are all these Christian Concepts as well? To love is to be human, not to be Christian.
VVVVVVVVVVV Awwww shucks he kissed me!!! I didn't even need mistle toe!!! hehehehe Hugs and kisses to you to you handsome hunk of a man!!!

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/22/2006 5:47:19 AM | I think this time of year people get lost in all the stress of getting things ready for Christmas, and sometimes don't stop to realize what the true meaning is. To me, its time to show love for one another. Most of all, to appreciate family, here and those that have past. I have just recently lost my father in law ( a week ago). I love my family, and thats what Christmas is to me. Family, friends, a time to get together and thank God for those we still have here on earth with us. I know it can also be very depressing for some that are alone. It must be terrible for them. My heart goes out to those people. | |

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/22/2006 10:38:35 AM | | love has always been here and so has GOD.people just chose to love different things besides Him.love was just emphasised more when christ came to earth as a baby and when He died on the cross for all our sins.not every thing in the Bible is a christian concept, just what was in the new testament from matthew on. | |

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/22/2006 10:42:16 AM | | there are three different types of love too dante.1.god's love, which is what i meant in my previous post.2.brotherly love, which we show to every human being on the planet or are supposed to.3.the love between 2 people in an intimate relationship, traditionally a man and woman.does that clear it up for you. | |

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/23/2006 8:45:09 AM | Xmas is just another working day... Except to those who have... Someone special to share it with... Be they lover, spouse and/or child(ren)...
In spite of the commercialization of the holiday... Those who have the option to share the day with loved ones... Can still capture the joy and spirit of the holiday... And in my ever so humble, if slightly bitter, opinion... Have no reason to complain about a lack of xmas spirit... Because it comes from within... From the sharing of love, on many levels... With those closest to you... Not from the purchases we make... In fact, some of my fondest memories... Are of homemade gifts... Knowing the thought and love... That was put into it...
To those who have nobody... To share the spirit of the holiday with... I raise my glass... And offer a wish that the new year... Brings someone special into your life... That you can share all your future joys with...
In my little corner of the world... Xmas is hereby cancelled... It's just another working day... Until such time as there may be... Someone special to share it with...

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/23/2006 6:13:52 PM | Christmas spirit???????????????
How do I find that when all I feel like doing is pulling out my hair and screaming at the top of my lungs. Christmas has become so commercialized that I feel ill everytime I go into ANY store. I love the feeling of the season, open hearts and warm embraces from family and friends.... and then the kids start to pipe up with the "did you bring any presents" or "I want this or I want that".... ill I tell you, just ill.
How do I instill in my offspring that the true meaning of Christmas is to love and to share and the whole giving is better than receiving concept when all they see is the commercial aspect. They do enjoy giving but they sure do enjoy getting a whole lot too!
My father has been ill and in and out of hospital over the past month so my focus has not been on creating a cheerful atmosphere in our house lately, but rather on hoping that he makes it through till Christmas at all. We thought we had lost him just over a week ago but he's pulling through nicely and is looking forward to actually having some solid food for christmas. I had not baked a single cookie, I put up my tree but it took me a whole week to finish decorating... between work and trips to the hospital, the spirit was kept at a distance.
Today, I spent the morning making a shopping list then ventured to the grocery store to purchase the baking items I needed. Once home I began to measure and mix and prepare those little treats that have become tradition.... and it hit me!
Tradition!
That is what makes Christmas what it is..... those old familiar things that bring back memories of youth, the ones we share with our own children and hopefully they will pass on to thiers. We get together with family and talk about past times and laugh at silly things we've all done and tell those "remember when" stories, knowing that our kids will be telling "remember when" stories about this very day at some point in thier lives.
These traditions will surely make you think of some of your own......
Venturing out on a cold winter's night to pick out a fresh pine tree with my Dad and bring it home to decorate.
Baking shortbread with my Mom, and I'm talking about the old fashioned kind that is about 1 inch thick and melt in your mouth delicious!
Wrapping all those treasures and picking out the matching ribbon and decorating my Dad's shirt box to make it look like it has a tie on it.
Gathering all the kids around the table and starting from youngest to oldest, each one would get a crack at the gigantic gingerbread house.
Watching "How the Grinch stole Christmas" on tv with all my cousins.
Watching "Miracle on 34th Street" with my Mom, the old version with Natalie Wood as the young girl.
Wearing some of those new clothes that were opened in the morning, for our traditional christmas dinner including the christmas crackers and EVERYONE wore those silly paper hats.
Sipping on a glass of Asti Spumante even though I was only 13, or 14, or whatever age, it was tradition!
There are a thousand other little things that have made Christmas a special time over the years that I still follow almost instinctively now... thanks to my parents and family members for allowing tradition to continue and grow throughout the years. I've adopted many of them and have started some of my own too.
So as I baked those cookies today and thought back to Christmas's past, I found my Christmas spirit right where it always was..... in my memories.
Wishing you all a joyful holiday season.

| Baaaaaaahhhhh HUMBUG!!! Posted: 12/23/2006 6:38:53 PM | It is not Christmas until iw atch Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer, and yes, I watched it last night! What pressure about spending tons of money? Few years back I couldn't afford gifts, so I made presents, baked cookies, made pies, went to the dollar store, got some containers and ribbon, instant presents for people. Had material, made simple quilts as my sewing is by no means on a professional level. Friends and family less than 100.oo spent that year. My friend does somehting similar, gets mugs, clear paper and ribbon, fills the mugs with hot chocoltae packs and chocolates, looks real pretty and makes a very nice gift. Christmas should be about family gettting together, sharing a meal and time spent together, not about gifts, that's for the children! We never received toys or extras throughout the year, we had to wait for Christmas! Any luxery item such as TV or stereo was a gift, a house gift for everyone to enjoy! | |

All the sappy xmas threads move on to obscurity... And people go back to being their usual single selves... Is tiresome to see so many repetitive threads about the season... Whatever happened to the delete option??
