how 2 post a new thread?
Posted: 2/14/2008 2:41:27 PM
You won't be making any new Threads. You don't search for existing ones on a given Topic, but create Redundant ones. Thus your Privilege to make New Threads has been revoked.

as of when?

[ As of some Time ago. No Records, except Severity & Number of Instances. No need for any Explanation whatsoever, all it takes is 1 obvious, D2D Thread you have made - Lights out, as you have no Intent to play be the Rules. No Report back to you either, or other Queries in Respect to your Thread Revocations/ Ticketoride ]

how 2 post a new thread?
Posted: 5/26/2008 9:30:48 PM
I've exhaustively searched for an answer to this but still can't figure this out, it appears to be a glitch. I can not start a new topic. I can reply just fine. I have not started more than 3 in the last 24 hours (haven't started even one for months actually) and I've never broken any rules. The topic is one that has not been discussed according to all searches I do, it's in the right forum and violates no policies. If I am using a word or phrase that the spam filter is catching, I can't imagine what it could be as I've tried retyping the same basic post 4 different ways and it still won't post. I don't get any error message. I am sure that I'm clicking the "post" and not the "cancel" link. When I click to post I am taken back to the sub-forum topic page, and that's it. I've tried waiting several hours between attempts to see if there is just some sort of delay in showing up, but no such luck. I'm no internet dummy, but this problem has me stumped.

Your New Thread Creating Privileges were revoked for making Done2Death Threads. Once they are gone, they are gone, I won't discuss anything, won't reinstate it, won't get them back.

Delete your Cookies and Temporary Internet Files.

Should that not resolve the Situation, try the Firefox Browser with Instant Messenger

can't post to some threads??? > can't start a thread ..
Posted: 4/12/2009 8:05:21 AM
I've not started any new threads for sometime .. haven't had any problems posting at all. Today I tried to start a new thread and nadda?? tried a couple times and it just won't take. I'm not using the 'and' sign or anything else that conflicts with the rules.
Can you tell me why I can't start a thread?

Thanks

sorry dunno....its not the 3 day rule, as you been here a while.

are you aware of any posting restrictions?

but if you not able to start a thread....how come you managed this one

temp glitch in system perhaps.

try flushing out your cookies and temp folders via internet tools, that seems to resolve a lot of issues.

best of luck

My question wasn't why can't I "post" - it is Why can't I "Start" a thread. There is a difference ..

I've read the rules, cleared my cookies .. etc. I can find No reason why I can't start a thread.

Thanks

the only thing i can think of is that you may have had your posting/thread starting privledges revoked....only a mod will be able to tell you, try sending a email to one.

trappedonbayst is prob your best bet.

I agree with the above poster. Many here get their ability to start new threads revoked by the moderators for demonstrating a pattern of starting redundant threads or other threads that are forbidden in the various forums.

Contact ticket or trapped via email and ask if thats the case.

Umm according to the instructions on this thread, there's supposed to be a 'post new thread' button? upper left corner? No such button anywhere on my screen. What now?

Did you pick a Sub Forum first? e.g. Relationship Forum

Then you will see the following, with the New Thread button in the upper left ?

Howdy

For some reason I cannot start new threads or events (used to be able to). I can add to already created threads.

Any ideas? Oh and it can't be my computer as a friend can log onto her profile on it and do all the things I can't.

Have done all the things suggested but to no avail.

oh and I haven't started any threads so surely it hasn't been revolked based on the redundant thread thing. Have only started one event. I did get a small forum ban for venting but half my mates got that too and they can all now post new threads again.

Yes it appears so.

Naming users in posts and also creating secondary threads in the Ask A Girl Forum in order to continue discussion after the original thread has been auto-locked.

moderator will you please reply.

They won't generally enter into a debate - for reasons that are spelled out clearly in FAQ's all over the site, and there aren't any meaningful unanswered questions to reply to, so... I'm wondering what sort of reply you expect/hope the moderator will make?

I'm not a moderator but I reckon I could guess, if a reply was to be forthcoming, what it might be.

There are other possible responses, but they're likely to be even less satisfactory, from your point of view, than this ^^^.

Pardon us while in the western hemisphere we have our lunch - thank you.

As for your ability to create threads - ENSURE you read the posted rules specific to any forum, in addition to the usual rules that are listed as the first thread in any forum.

Creaton rights restored.

There is no "New Thread" button that I can find. Also, I can find a search button but not one labeled "FORUM Thread Search Tool". How do I get to the page that has those buttons? or, why don't they show up?

I just read over those instructions again. It sounds like I'm going about trying to start a new thread right. However, The last few times after having typed up an entry with a subject, I never saw it posted after clicking on post. I'm still new too this forum stuff. Could someone please tell me, why it does not seem to want too work for me?

Once you are 'in' the forum you want to start a new thread in, you should see the new THREAD button at the upper left, just above the list of threads in that forum.

If you are wanting to reply, or 'post' to an existing thread, then, once you are 'in' the thread you should see the post reply button at the bottom of every post. Clicking on any one of them will allow you to post to the thread, with your post appearing at the end, that is, last in the thread.

I'm wondering though, if you are running into trouble trying to post in the 'Ask a Girl' or 'Ask a Guy' forums?
The threads in those forums are limited to 20-ish replies, so if you're trying to post as the thread nears that limit... well, you may be wasting your time.
Likewise, if you're trying to start a new thread in the 'Ask a Guy' forum you're also wasting your time, because only women can start threads in that forum.

Here's a couple of handy links... relating to forums.

And to the site in general. Most of the questions you will ever have can be answered by careful reading of the information you'll find here.
