In the presence of a true friend you allow them to see the goodness inside of you as well as your flaws. You can have a disagreement or even an argument and 10 minutes later you can be laughing together and the conflict can be forgotten.
I believe true love not only should but must evolve from a true friendship to ensure it will last.

I think I have finally found both in the same person, or should I say he found me!
You are one very lucky lady and from what I know of you from here, you deserve it!!!!! I am very happy for you.
If I had to make a choice I would choose true love. If I found what really is true love them I would also have found a true friend. You cannot have the first without the second. Just ask Su if you don't believe me. | |

I keep wanting to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming! I know you shouldn't compare one person to another, but I can't help but to notice how opposite from my ex that Tommy is. Take today, for instance. He told me he wished he didn't have to work tomorrow so he could go with me for my follow up tests at the imaging center. My ex, to whom I was married for almost 16 years, told me on two different occasions that I was "overreacting" to tests I had to have. One was my first every EKG, ordered because the doctor heard something "wierd" in my heartbeat, and the other was a hystosonogram. I'm not sure if I spelled that correctly, but it was one humdinger of a scary test. The tech doing it kept saying it wasn't suppose to hurt, but it was killing me! Then I had to drive an hour home, by myself, because he wouldn't go with me. Life is soooo much better these days!! | |

Just don't make the mistake I made. I looked for someone who was opposite of my first ex.....and I got him. But he was lacking some of the good things that my first ex had (yes, he did have SOME good in him!). So I learned a valuable lesson...... be sure you know which things should be opposite and which should not. I think I can choose better next time because I've learned a lot from those 2 experiences.
At least it sounds like Tommy is opposite in at least one good way!! Wishing you the best and much happiness!!

Isnt that a matter of ones own perspective? Woulndt a true friend stick with you, even when they think you are wrong? Would they judge you for past issues you have already resolved? Would they ignore you when you said something they didnt like, or say something else to change the subject? Wouldnt true love be barder than true friends? Shouldnt true love be even more unconditional than true friends? But when is it in this country? Friends get broke up over lovers, lovers get broke apart over friends, so what is true? Would a friend turn thier back on you if you said something stupid? Why do we all seem to judge people based on what we would do, and what we think, and what we have done in our past? Funny how alot of us all say Jesus is our guide, but how far away from that we really are! Who did he hang around with? Whores, tax colectors, and the like. Who did he love to call Hypocrytes, white washed tombs? The religous folk of the day. Translate that into todays society. Not a pretty picture for todays church goers is it? the only true friend, is still Jesus, only true love is still from him.  | |

Posted: 1/14/2008 10:00:53 AM | I choose to have true friendship first....true love is having a true friend. A true friend loves you unconditionally. A true friend understands that you may not change but has an uncanny ability of complimenting your weakness and strengths.
A true friend loves your greatness, loves your quirks, laughs when you are being silly, scolds you when you are wrong, offers that shoulder to cry on, tells you when you need to be a bit more strong, hugs you when you are down, respects your different opinions, does not have a hidden agenda for being a friend and adores you completely. A true love has all those qualities.
When I am a true friend to someone, they know because I try to exhibit all of that listed above as well as .... I treat them with the same love and respect I have for my family. I adore them as a sibling, respect them as I would an elder, protect them like my child.
you are right billy, you can have true love and true friendship, as long as you are willing to open yourself up to the rewards and consequences that come with that package.
