As a child -watership down...definately.

Now... The ITV story of the Moors Murderer's Brady and Hindley.
The ITV story of Hillsborough (produced by Jimmy Mcgovern of Cracker fame)

Films... i'd say Texas Chain Saw Masacre scared the hell out of me...
Hannibal when he feeds the man's face to the dog...
Raging Bull when Marlon Brando's character beats his wife like
he's beating another man in the boxing ring.
Rain man. A taster of what its like for people to suffer
with Autism.

Now... The ITV story of the Moors Murderer's Brady and Hindley.

I was a teenager when this happened and I remember it being all over the news, my parents being affected by it, the horror that it was really happening and the relief when they were caught. It made me aware of my own mortality and how easily people like this can just walk into your life and take it away. Now, as a mother, I feel for the parents of those whose lives they took. I did see the television story some time back and it brought back those feelings.

The first 15 minutes of Saving Private Ryan...Oh my. Truely shook me how all these men lost their lives in such a terrible way to fight for our freedom yet we go and be so bloody petty about things.

I was in York for a break in 2002. To be exact I was in the Roman Bath pub when all entertainment stopped for the announcement of Myra Hindley's death after she suffered a heart attack. The entire pub roared and cheered... There were free drinks at the bar....

They were pure evil at the end of the day.

Myra Hindley's death after she suffered a heart attack.
The conspiracy theorist in me still believes she is alive, released from prison and living under an assumed identification abroad?
OT The Day after Tommorow sort of makes you think about Global warming/environment for a minute, even if it is a bit hollywood.

LOL...

Watership Down and E.T. spring to mind (yes guys... I did cry... Happy now? LOL), but I guess the thing on TV that has, not only affected me the most, but also sparked off a sense of politics in me for the first time in my Life, was a dramatized documentary about the aftermath of a Nuclear War called "The Day After".

My mum forced me to watch this when I was like 7 or 8, but I'm glad that she did. Sure, as a child I had nightmares about this film afterwards, but it quite clearly showed to me the dangerous World that I was growing up in.

It's an old bit of television, but one that still needs to be shown I think. Especially in this day and age of complete and utter ignorance, which is painfully evident in our young.

But on a lighter note... Star Wars (A New Hope) completely blew me away too (but I'm guessing it blew away virtually ALL the young boys at the time).

"No it´s mine"
"Let me have it"
"No it´s my turn"
"you had it last"

The only film that has effected me, was Boys Don't Cry, the true story of Brandon Teena.

'The Bridge'

http://www.thebridge-themovie.com/new/index.html

from wiki
"The Bridge focuses on the large number of suicides that occur each year at the Golden Gate Bridge, capturing footage of the suicides and interviewing family members. Also interviewed are people who have attempted suicide at the bridge, and witnesses of the suicides.

The movie was shot with multiple cameras pointed at a notorious suicide spot on the bridge during 2004. It captured 19 people as they took their final plunge, and then offers interviews with grieving families."

this was a 'cold, light of day' documentary into the lives, and deaths (except one lucky bugger ) of people who commit suicide. the movie and in particular the final death has had a lasting effect on me. Ill never forget it and I am usually unshockable. its not grueseome or gory, more disturbing.

I watched all the literacy programs for Schools & Colleges on BBC2 during the daytime when I was as school. I think they had an AFFECT.

After reading all the profiles containing the words "your" instead of "you're", don't people know the difference between the "affect" & "effect", anymore.

Hahaha....

Like many others on here Schlinder's list was a shocker, for me it was the scene where Liam Neeson is taking the small bits off his uniform and car stating that this could have saved one more....etc etc, was fine all the way to that ending, the little girl in the red coat was sad, but that ending just finshed it off for me.
Now I am going to be a sad geek, but there is one particular episode of Babylon 5 that has me gulping for emotion, and that is severed dreams, the point where man finally turns against man and you knew from that point onwards that the show would never be the same again...
What else had an affect on me must be the first movie I saw at the cinema, and that was the fox and the hound...

Extreme Makeover - Home Edition....

Now I know it's american, and yes I know they go over the top when they see their new house, and yes I am tempted to press the mute button when they start screaming "oh my god!" like only the americans can. but that doesn't take away the simple fact that those who deserve it it changes their lives in so many ways, that you sometimes can not help welling up.

plus I fancy Paige....any red blooded male who watches this programme will know what I mean lol

TV programme about Jamie Bulger, was so heart breaking. Think it affected so many people after watching it. I tend to always look now to see were the adult is if I see a little child in a store.
