I have always like Xmas by myself and I view it as a luxury when I get the chance (I am home sick with some sort of virus). I make sure I have a pair of killer jammies, a really great bottle or two of wine and the ingredients to make a gourmet dinner/dessert for one (no leftovers!). I will dust off a few fave Xmas movies and have a few books about for when I get bored.

I never really did much for xmas anyhow, but this is my first time alone. But it is all good. Slept in late, had some food and coffee, and now just lounging around my house doing nothing. But to those of you out there that are down about being alone, don't be sad. Boxing day is tomorrow.

well. my 4th x-mas alone is just about over. and its about time. wanted to sleep in but was up at 6am, just made the day longer. once upon a time, I would do my house up to the nuts with lights and decor, every part of my place said x_mas. day after day food and treats were layed out and family & friends would come by. on x-mas day itself the house would be full, every one there would have a great time, and I loved it all.....now, for the last few years, I have been all alone in this rotten city of red deer with not even a card to say that its that time of year...Why will no one get a single's night going on in this city? one that is not only for us with computers but for every one to get in on. like at some coffee shop every 2 weeks or so. for every one of us on this thing that has no one in our life's there is 10 out there that dont have a computer and is alone as well.

That is a great idea cola. There are some dinner nights going on here in Calgary. The guy that is putting them together is doing a really great job. Kudos. But I can't make it to most of those. A coffee night would be great. Cheap and easy to make happen.

Cosmic, I totally know the feeling. I just moved back to Canada not long ago, so I really don't know to many people around here. Kinda wierd not having people to hang out with and go out with. But like you said, a new year is coming and that brings hope of new adventures. Cheers to all, and have a safe new years.

Yup I know the feeling CD. I just spent a fabulous afternoon with my kids and about 40 of my family members. It was fantastic to see everyone and good times were had by all. it feels so weird when you see everyone there with their SO becoming engaged and already married. My family is very blessed as most of the couples in our family love eachother dearly and you can see it. I am hoping one day when it is supposed to happen I will be as lucky as them.

Merry Christmas

Don't worry Sara, with a smile as pretty as yours, you are bound to find the right somebody sooner rather them later.

As for myself, I will settle for some new friends to hang out with and have good times with.

So how are the holidays turning out of everyone this year? I drove down to Texas this year. I is nice to be around friends and family this year. Not to mention that the weather here is so nice right now. I wish all the very best for the season.

Seems like there are alot of us spending the holidays alone. This is my second Christmas away from home, it really sucks. Im trying to make the best of it though, my family gifted me with some great traditions so Im going to continue with as many of them as possible on my own (the traditional midnight walk around the highschool grounds with my brother might be a bit difficult to recreate though lol). My family is only a phone call away so poor cash strapped Telus will be happy, my brother and I are going to drink together on the phone and see if we cant invent a phone drinking game or something lol. It wont be the same as being with them, but since I can't I have to find away to make it a nice day. Movies, food, drinks, two awesome cats and the ability to call home..It could be worse.

I hope that everyone who has to spend the holidays alone can find a way to make it a happy day.

Merry Christmas to all!!

With most of my family dead and the ex has my son for the holidays, alone I will be...
But I love it... I plan on going to the local home-less shelter and see if they need a hand... Then I'm gonna go home, cook my turkey dinner, drink too much and write some dirty Xmas songs... for example....

" I'm beginning to look alot like shit-faced..."

"Frosty the Blowman"

"Rudolph the Red Nosed Gay Queer"

"Santa Claus is Cumming....."

Happy Holidays to all and to all a good drunk....

It's a tradition that has become a socially imposed habit - spending Christmas with family.

The very nature of this Holiday is burried nowadays under the credit card debt, under the freaking over which dress to wear to "in-laws", at what time to pull the turkey out of the oven.

Being alone for Christmas shouldn't be any different from being with the family, apart from the Childhood memories and a chance to get together with people you don't see for the rest of the year.

Celebrate it the way a good Christian should.
Because if the very core of this holiday is not what you believe in - may be it's not a holiday?

Popular thread type today..

I think it's probably best that the only mammal with me during the holiday season this year, is Louee. She doesn't mind that I have a cold, she just doesn't like the loud coughing and sneezing. Freaks her out. But I get to live the same simple life as her until the 31st....

This year the kids are at their mom's, so I have christmas alone.

I'm going fishing. It's the one day that I can go out and not get "so, you catching? what bait you using? can i borrow a hook/spiltshot/bait/etc."

Don't get me wrong, I like the social aspect of fishing, it's nice to be able to wander up to anyone and chat. Sometimes though, it's nice to just fish.

Well, I wouldn't say that I am alone. I am at my mothers house right now. I have been visiting family and friends in Texas and Oklahoma for the past week and a half now. Good times for the most part. Except for the whole drunken night with my dad. Wow was that a bad hangover. Anyhow, wishing all the best of the holidays.

I am very much enjoying all this free time to do absolutely zip. I have such a hectic schedule most of the time that this down time is invaluable. Guess I better mosey on over to my parents house in a few minutes to make an xmas appearance.

argghhh.. My whole 2 days off will be a whirlwind of activity, cleaning, cooking and entertaining. I'm a touch jealous of those that will get to relax..
