| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 1/15/2008 6:21:50 AM | catapult me right into the middle, why dontcha?
this is not where i want to be and i'll thank you and be on my way
----------------------------- years ago i thought it would be simple that two people met fell in love but now i know the truth is that we are simply insane to think that it's possible
----------------------------- ten feet tall my walls are ten feet tall and i don't know if i can break 'em
four inches wide my hand is four inches wide and i measure my meal with it
ten four ten four good buddy do you read me?
------------------------------ just lust there's no such thing just is a lie there is lust alone and it is consuming rampaging thrusting itself into my barren life it's not just it's not fair it's not right
------------------------------ twisted roots of a tree trunk wend along the ground in front of me and i am transformed by wonder to think that they were here before my father's father's father
-------------------------------- as we lie here looking up into the twinkling lights our faces bathed in the glow of candles and blessed by the angel on top i make a memory of this moment to pull out and cherish each year at this wonderful time
---------------------------------- daytime is the right time to get my patootie out of bed and get something accomplished but bankie doesn't care it just lies there unaware that my bank account is depleting | |

years ago
when i was little many years ago i did as i was told most of the time i was a good kid more often than not
but, when i wasn’t oh, what an instigator such a naughty troublemaker quite the risk taker and a tomboy, too nary a girly trace
the habits of youth what we learn then sets the overall tone for any future when i know this since i am still the same | |

| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/5/2008 9:47:06 PM | So there I was last night Just like the last time I got the look I'm sure you know the one I mean That look that reminds me What a loudmouth I am What an irascible idiot What an irrepressible rascal I can be The look that confirms I probably think more of myself And what I have to offer Than I probably have a right to The same look Just like the last time That tells me my baby Wants me to stop jabber jawing That tells me to pull the black ribbon From her cascading crimson hair The look that says its time To toss her on the bed To carnally ravage her To talk dirty to her Between hushed whispers While proclaiming my undying love Of her to the world At the top of my lungs Unabashed and unashamed The look that confirms She accepts me For who and what I am Nothing more and nothing less You know The look I'm sure you know the one I mean | |

everyone, please just use the last posted topics til mon. since no one else used them, that should be ok.
this lyric has been playing in my head
KISS OFF - the violent femmes
I need someone, a person to talk to, Someone who'd care, to love Could it be you? Could it be you?
Situation gets rough, then I start to panic It's not enough, it's just a habit Hey kid your sick Well darling, this is it
You can all just kiss off into the air Behind my back I can see them stare They'll hurt me bad but I won't mind They'll hurt me bad, they do it all the time [yeah yeah] Yeah, they do it all the time [yeah yeah] Yeah, they do it all the time [do it all the time] They do it all the time [do it all the time] Do it all the time!
I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record. Oh yeah? Well don't get so distressed; Did I happen to mention that I'm impressed.
I take one one one cause you left me and Two two two for my family and Three three three for my heartache and Four four four for my headaches and Five five five for my lonely and Six six six for my sorrow and Seven seven for no tomorrow and Eight eight I forget what eight was for and Nine nine nine for the lost gods Ten ten ten ten for everything everything everything
[do it all the time] Time time time time [do it all the time] Timetimetimetimetimetimetimetime Do it all the time!
(and i listened 15 times...this is exactly how it goes! ) | |

| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/8/2008 6:05:45 PM | Got the look, And that quiet confidence That slow turns Me on. Walking towards our table Eyes catch and hold. My baby, he slides Right in beside me, All eyes on us Waiter wants to know My order. Can’t deal the mind chatter Natter natter make small talk Best behavior meet the boss When he sits this close Hot breath on my skin Captivated And when he begins To talk dirty to me Whispered against the raucous Of the loudmouth Biz man We have to dine with tonight I am lost. Long linen tablecloth And the black ribbon Of my undergarment Easily in reach… Ah he is a rascal Laying claim Fingers tracing On my thigh Straight faced I answer the questions directed And sip oysters from their shell While he slowly searches For buried treasure Leading me With his distraction. | |

| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/18/2008 8:57:08 PM | LAST SUMMER ....
.... I lobotomized a giraffe at the check-out stand At opening night of The Threepenny Opera While Dominique looked askance with undue aplomb.
I origamied marzipan into clipper ships And sailed around the cavern in distemper; Ossuaries existed in triplicate limestone.
I organized a meltdown of tickertape venom, Proboscis of defeated politicos athwart The ragged washerwomen collapsed on hydrants.
I stretched my bunions and salted my toenails While chemicals collided in helical misfitteries; Doric columns erected themselves from plinths of yesterday. | |

your my life
Forever is what I say to you, No other words could be more true, Every morning I see you, Before I open my eyes, Because everything about you, My heart has memorized, No one has made me feel this way, Look forward to seeing you each and every day, You feel me with emotion, I feel my only reason for being is being with you, And there is nothing I wouldn't do, I try to make you believe and it may be hard for you to believe, You are everything I take in, You are my air to breathe, It may scare you that I feel this way, But I promise I wont leave you until my last day, nothing can take that away, I live as I breathe for you now and always.... | |

in the rain resistance delta fake quirk have to win eyes so blue
ok, i swear...i am gonna write some poems this week; if not, feel free to bust me!
poet poll ok, so we just celebrated president's day. so i was thinking of patriotism and being an american, and how it gave me a great opportunity to segue into this burning question: which is the better song, david bowie's "young americans" or tom petty's "american girl"? why?
i know my answer, but shall refrain until some of you have answered (or not ). | |
|
| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/20/2008 9:16:49 PM | "Young Americans" is OK, and I'm not familiar with "American Girl" (and The Guess Who's most popular song is "American Woman", truly a horrid offering).
=========================================================
IN THE RAIN ....
.... it all makes sense: How the gladiolas flounce in umbrage through the mildewed lawns, How a piggybank refracts liver spots as big as fifty-dollar goldfish, How dank and empty mezzanines emit Pine Sol in a wide radius, How this delinquent idea resonates during prideful siestas. | |

| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/20/2008 11:26:23 PM | and again very nice poems...thanks for the comment on my poem...here's my newest one so far....
kissing in the rain
We step out and into the street, You can hear it hit softly, like the patter of feet,
its such a magical time, like sunset on the ocean we're caught in its spell, and we move in slow motion
I move in close, with my hands on her waist I take it slow, no rush, no haste
The rain slowly falls and the full moon shines She slides her arms around my neck, and says you are mine, The rain picks up and it soaks our hair But our eyes are focused, we don't care,
I whisper in her ear, I love you my dear You will always be smiling, you have no use for tears you see,
I will love you forever, is my vow to you, You are my love, may it always be true,
She smiles at me, with joy and bliss My lips meet hers, and in the rain we kiss
The rain itself, comes down all around As I kiss my sweetheart, without a sound
The rain glides through the air and I hold her tight It's like the angels are crying, such a beautiful sight
My tongue touches hers and its ecstasy A kiss in the rain sets our emotions free
She pulls my lower lip and it takes its toll My whole body tingles, like I have lost control
As the rain falls down I just can't believe That I need her to move, to think, to breathe
I take a step back and I look in her eyes She tells me she loves me and my heart just flies
If you believe perfection simply isn't real Kiss your love in the rain, and I promise you will?.. | |

hellrasier - that was some kiss!
brizo - astute observation.
mmmy - welcome to the thread.
poet poll here's the tally - an equivocal vote for bowie from rory, who has never heard the competition, and gratuitously reminded us of that horrid song no vote from brizo a vote for bowie from mmmy and my own vote for tom petty's american girl (did you expect anything else? i mean, i do have a tom petty signed guitar... )
here's some links, if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQy_gkrmg74 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNgt7U9QrFQ

| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/26/2008 10:48:18 PM | Maybe someday I will take it slow Maybe someday Taking it easy Will be more Than just a figure of speech Maybe someday I will take time To smell the roses Uncap that fire hydrant Drenching myself in its waters Like the child I should have been Maybe someday I will realize my mistake That in my rush to grow up I never enjoyed what is youth And all the promises it held Maybe someday Maybe someday For one in a hurry to procrastinate Maybe someday Will maybe never come
PS: Maybe someday I will have a clue what the hell "synesthesia" means so I can use it in a piece. Thanks for the curve ball Humormonger ;) | |

| The Daily Poet (EXTRA! EXTRA! get your daily muse here!) Posted: 2/27/2008 6:02:12 AM | Dear Humormonger, Thank You Dear......from the depth of my soul, how the heck did you know?!!!! Always take'n a looksie, today you gave to me a reason for it!!! Thank You!! Not sure on really how to go with this but here's my "neurological" bliss!!
Maybe someday, Yup this day I heard someone say "My Mistake" for making stained sheets I told'm it will all come out in the wash try'n to take it slow, going with the flow In my speech of Love and Peace a fire hydrant of Joy in every piece unknowingly the host presented to me a word: "Synesthesia" that got me to see My "CRAZY" is a fact not an affliction!!! Proof to me its how I preceive Life as my light A neurological mystery of cognitive belief!!!!
