no vote from brizo
a vote for bowie from mmmy
and my own vote for tom petty's american girl (did you expect anything else? i mean, i do have a tom petty signed guitar...

Hon, you put me between a rock and a hard place, I love both entertainers, and both songs...I have a Bowie anthology, had to rebuy it after it was stolen, and it STILL doesn't have the one with Bing Crosby, Little Drummer boy...that one went for $26 plus shipping ( when I spitefully jacked up the bid - back off my auction or PAY ) .... My favorites, hmmm....Pretty Things, Gasoline, Sorrow, Sound and Vision....

I also have tons of Tom Petty...and you'll see I've made some posts on a Petty thread...favorites, Learning to Fly, You don't know what it's like, She don't need you...

delta

wide delta marsh
mangroves cling tenaciously
fighting wind and brackish sea
herons stalk the singing frogs
fish will dine on pollywogs
can we really shake our stamp
predator and prey
the Mayans say
we'll have a new reality
in the year of 2012
can the world embrace harmony
and love another
as ourselves?

Have this one in J's abstracts, but it also fits your words left...so it goes here too.

Multi coloured rainbow waves
pulsing in particulate
I swim through the cosmos
effect, affect, affectionate
exploding into song
that ripples into eternity
where time is timeless
and place
is now,
synesthesia.

resistance
fake
quirk
eyes so blue

eyes so blue

I confess
you're my guilty pleasure
your eyes so blue
seem to take my measure
I think you smirk
at my little quirk
but I must admit
the obsession's a fake
I'm the number one fan
of a genuine man
and you remind me of him
his eyes would make
me weak in the knees
have mercy, please
I can muster no resistance
my heart just thumps with it's insistence
so I look at you every now and then
in stealth mode
shallow, I know
but I can't yet shake
my genetic code

lol, thorn. i know you know how to google, lazy boy!

welcome, hamazing. thanks for the write. and, ya ain't crazy!

brizo - votes are not meant to be easy. gotta make those tough choices. very nice imagery in delta, and bonus points for use of "pollywog". eyes so blue has a great ending.

ravin - i was gonna be really impressed that you had written a poem with the word synesthesia in it..and, still am. can't decide which version i like better.

I'm blown away by the knowing that there are people who see music in full colour! Very cool concepts evolve out of that. Thanks for the word.......

resistance
tension building
starts with the kiss at the door
cars starting
blue exhaust in the frozen air
another kiss
lingering, long.
Resistance builds
thinking of you
in sips of creamy coffee
smiles
Lunch time phone calls
“I love you, been thinking of you all morning...
and last nights memories...”
resistance
waves of you wash over me..
afternoon, long,
focus...
daydream,
catch a whiff of you still on my skin
involuntary smiles
“What are you so happy about?”
deeper smiles
focus on your work!!
resistance
Hurry home,
stoke the fire
Pot of rice cooking
dogs fed
vegetables pared
salad..and....
resistance
I hear your car
door opens
and you have me in your arms
resistance...
is futile.

I imagine music in colour sometimes and have wished I could fully see it that way. Too cool such a gift. John Mayer has it apparently, maybe thats part of why his stuff's so good.

*sigh* Well then, Bowie...

in the rain

left outside your warmth
standing in the rain
I am belatedly washed clean
of all my superiority
my presumption
born again
I will approach
potentialities
humbled and reverent
babtized and shining

lol...you guys are great. i am quite pleased to have been the muse for this particular discussion. i enjoy generating new thoughts. you guys are the best!! thanks for your writes and quotes!

maybe someday

maybe someday
i will stop questioning myself
i will grant that i know my mind
that i know my feelings and desires
that i can trust my gut
let it lead me where it will
and just go with the flow

i often do
and, am rarely wrong
but, then, i find myself
questioning
wondering
over-thinking
again

and must remind myself
that i do know my mind
and can be selfish about it
letting the chips fall where they may
because it is what it is
online dating at its best
and at its worst

i know what i know
and i know that, for me
the knowing is all
but, there are two in the game
and i can’t make things progress alone
so, i must shrug yet again
and say, “maybe someday”

my mistake

now, here i am
heart on sleeve
i’ve said too much
been too open
laid it on the line
and it was my mistake

i should have held back
kept it to myself
but, i didn’t
now, i will pay the price
i let it out, open and honest
maybe, too much, too soon

only time will tell
but, i feel i haven’t much time
could be mistaken
but, i think not
i am sooo not good at this
and probably have blown it

but, if being honest and open
results in the end
well, that’s what was meant to be
and, i do believe in karma
so, that may just be mine
this time…

Once Reality becomes theirs
who would want
one as this?
Hiding keeping all inside
for many months
maybe years?
Life is far to short to waste
words and lifetimes
on the oasis
skirting reality
hiding pain
Nothing else could be so real
one standing
repeating
pain
This is real living
True love
calls your
name
outloud!
If you answer
you
are forgiven
blessed!
Life is just
like
this!
One
loves
again!

"You got Lucky today..." but "Scary Monsters" will always be in "Fashion".

What you are asking is for folks to choose apples or oranges. Neither one is better they are both great for their own reasons. I happen to love both Bowie and Tom, but I can't say as I like one better than the other. I like them both a lot, for a lot of different reasons. I saw Tom last during the "Damn the Torpedoes" tour and Bowie last during the "Glass Spider" tour and loved both equally. So as usual, I am no help whatsoever, leastwise in this regards.

Have fun ;)!

it was really a very simple question, even if you are right about apples and oranges. here are two songs, which do you like better? that is a very simple question, although we have seen that it is not easy for most to answer. did i happen to mention i have a long and proud history as an instigator??? and, is anyone here surprised???

run rings

I'm going to run rings
around your condescension
your lofty self invention
you'll look for me
but I will be behind you
be careful,
you're so sneeringly unkind, you
weighted down with self importance
you're ungainly and pedantic
with a well placed foot
I'll trip you with my silly seeming antics
blink your eyes and there I'll be beside you
could this buffoon potentially deride you?
look about before you dish humiliation
and chortle with your self congratulation
you better note the placement of the clown
'cause he's the one who's going to bring you down

Good stuff here!
yeah, I am fascinated with tasting and seeing colors in music...I may taste it *smile... Not even when I did my ONE LSD experience did I see the colors everyone talked about... I saw deep inside the soul of another in much the same way I saw a leaf in so much vivid detail it was as if it were under a microscope..our untapped areas of the brain fascinates me....and I know we can learn to awaken them in ourselves. I had to practice, but I can see the energy field around people now...tho to me the colors are not as vivid as others see naturally. Due to my severe vision problems, I experience first hand some of the miracle mysteries of how the brain affects what we see....we all don't see the same for certain.

but, if being honest and open
results in the end
well, that’s what was meant to be
and, i do believe in karma
so, that may just be mine
this time

I just touched on this on the Poetry Game last week *smile......

if being honest and open
causes a relationship to fall apart
either it wasn't meant to be
or they are on a different path
some of us
introverts
need a little solitude to process
if we aren't allowed that
we often run rings
sometimes back to the beginning

golly, jeepers

golly, jeepers
I got my red ball rollers
I could run faster
jump higher
I was an aerial flier
hurtling off the shed
with my billowing cape
gravity escape
I landed with a scud
in sticky mud
and mama whipped my butt
for dirtying my shoes
which didn't last a day
red and pristine
I couldn't have my say
and let her know
about the commercial
before the show
and all the things
those shoes enhanced
and how I laced them up,
entranced

Here is the Church
Here is the steeple
That is where I more or less fall apart
If persuasion is the sincerest form of flattery
Then I am going run rings around this one
Till you cease to be tantalized
Or I cease to seem charming
Because golly jeepers
This isn't my day job after all
What you get is what you see
Look inside
See all the people
The walls came tumbling down
So says Joshua anyways
Even God rested on Sunday
That works for me

chicken shit

you ****in’ poseur
you absolute liar
caught in your lie
all you can do is hide
guess what??
i can see you
you ridiculous jackass
you can be an ostrich
hide your head in the sand
it won’t change a thing
selfish
narcissistic
lying piece of crap
kicking myself in the ass
to think i believed those lies
and broke my rules
for you
you worthless piece of crap
coming over all honest
what with third date confession
that truth
i could deal with
but, when it mattered
you lied
and i now consider
maybe my ex-friend
that you wanted to screw
told all, was true
tho’ i didn’t believe then
now i know
i’m well shut
of both of you
try to be mature
and have a discussion
all you do is hide
what a wimp
so chicken shit
can’t step up
but, i’ll laugh last
because you’ll get yours
karma is potent
and i don’t have to know
because i believe it true
you’ll get what’s coming to you
