Enjoying the reads Humor!

All of the years of preparing
Waiting for something
Not knowing exactly what
Days pass like a mere hand
on a clock
Finality seems neverending
Once we come to the realization
Not one of us
will get out of this world alive
Maybe it is then when we truely
begin to live

nice, mmmmmy. i'm gonna think about that.

traffic jam

i am driving home
late at night
really, early morning
it’s 3 am
been driving nearly an hour
and i’m getting tired

i’m 15 minutes from home
but the thruway is closed
all traffic diverted off
it smells like gasoline
a bad accident
closed the tappan zee bridge

forced back the way i came
i am very irritated
i figure out an alternate route
it’ll take me halfway back
to where i’d started from
if only i’d known…

so i head south
on the palisades parkway
i pass mr. investment guy’s exit
think, hmmm, i could stay there
should i call?
veto that idiotic thought

cross over the george washington bridge
cruise up the thruway
fatigued when i make it home
50 minutes and 60 miles later
and i have a novel thought
i’d rather have been stuck in a traffic jam

then i wouldn’t have to drive
nor pay attention
in state of extreme tiredness
traffic here is a part of life
an irritant you learn to deal with
just never thought i’d ever prefer it

forced back the way i came
i am very irritated

and that, my dear, is another understatement
I bet you didn't even know I knew you
did you?
but, I've read you for how long now?
I know you pretty well

..and since we've never really spoken
I'd never come tarnish your thread with my presence
(you know my anti-spellcheck policy..
if you've ever read me)

but,
an irritant you learn to deal with
just never thought i’d ever prefer it

see? If I knew you better I would go off on a ramble about that.
but, I don't want to fvck up your thread
so, I just want to say Amen!

Half a day a mile away
Not one of us cracked a smile
In the street at our feet
Bronzed tan turned a lily white
Lie the body of a boy
In a truly rough situation
Done in well before his time
His blood obscuring the traffic lines
Two holes festoon an unmoving chest
Calling all boys to uptake a quest
In the traffic jam of an inner city
Another passes no mores the pity
Gun begets gun till another has fallen
Never again hear Mother calling
Half a day a mile away
Not one of us cracked a smile
Were life as easy as a palindrome
He might have just have made it home
Dennis and Edna sinned
Able was I ere I saw Elba
So as the car fled out of sight
See bronzed tan turned a lily white

I remember listening to my daughter read her homework stuck in traffic on the James Island bridge, waiting for ships to pass through....

I never would have thought of it then, but sweet times.....

not one of us

i don’t know who you are
it doesn’t really matter
you know who you are
admit it…who you are…
it’s how you define yourself

you are either this
or that
somewhere in your head
there’s a label
and, others like you
you view as being similar

they must have the same stuff
the same feelings
the same outlook
the same desires
the same take
on what is
and isn’t important

admit it…
you know you do
whatever the category
or distinction you use
it comes down to this
in your head…
it’s us versus them

they are either
like us, which is good
or not one of us, which is bad
that is so very judgmental
people are not definable
in such simple terms
there’s more to the whole
than a simple categorization
people are multi-faceted
and they deserve better

try to be more open
more accepting
it’s different
it takes getting used to
it requires
wrapping the mind
around something new
and making a decision
how you will deal with it
can you?
or will you?
is change possible?
can you take the step?
think about it…
that’s all i’m asking

view the world with fresh eyes
see what’s there to be seen
why limit yourself?
nothing is simple
nothing is just black or white
the world
life
it’s all shades of grey
learn to see
learn to feel
let preconceptions go
stop judging
based on arbitrary characteristics
purported identifiers
that lack true substance

race
religion
political persuasion
education level
profession
income
sexual preference
all so superficial

isn’t it the person that matters?
their morals
their actions
how they treat you
and others
isn’t that what’s important?

Lying twisted in the wreckage of a youth misspent
Your day of reckoning plays out before you
Like a movie your mother once filmed
And now stores in the basement
Amidst boxes of your past indiscretions
The brick-a-brack of a life better left forgotten
Your reputation has preceded you
And now you've finally caught up
Where you've been where you are
Where you are undoubtedly heading
All seemed so cool at the time
Albeit not nearly as interesting
As you assumed it would be looking back
Hindsight is what it is for a reason
A simple facade to hang tomorrows on
And hide yesterdays behind like a stain on the wall
As the home movie that is your past
Plays out once more before your eyes
Smile for the camera and wave goodbye
To the dreams you never lived
The hopes you never realized
Even still though take comfort in the comfort
That things are as they are for a reason
Console yourself with the knowledge
That what was meant to be has been and always will be
As you lie twisted in the wreckage of a youth misspent
And your day of reckoning plays out before you once again

this is your day of reckoning
you wanted to be so cool
but fate twisted
raw fisted
and made you a fool
it feels like a movie
as you wave goodbye
hear your mother cry
screwed up
locked up
and set to die

This day of reckoning had finally come
As I stood on the front step with tears in my eyes
And watched as my mother once had before me
My baby with a brave excited smile
On that cherubic face
Waved goodbye
And set out on a new adventure
Just as I once did so many years ago

So cool and serene I must have appeared
I watched as the car twisted out of sight
A sigh choked up inside as I tried to hide
All the love that was manifested in the years
We shared under the same roof
In our little house of love

I wasn’t expecting it to happen so soon
Wasn’t it yesterday I had wiped her tears away
Pulling her tightly in my lap
Like a wounded bird
And felt her heart beating next to mine

I knew it was just a turning of the page
Of motherhood
But the nest felt so empty
In that flashback
Of a movie written long ago
On another stage.

- NORSE WORD WARP - ( Or is it NURSE WARD RAPP? )

I knew this Jealous guy
He was touched by your presents
He wanted to move in with you
And move out from his parents

Perhaps he was just licky
He had some oral bed skills
Rumor grew about this sicky
And his set of cherry thrills

- Erik - ( Oh yeah,.... I went there. I changed the words a little! Hahaha,... besides I think "Rue Morgue" to "Rumor Grew" was brilliant,... don't you? Hahaha,... )

tornado

the glowering clouds
of a jealous sky
menace
grasping fingers
scar furrows
into the face
of mother earth
with vengeful destruction

very nicely done, erik!! yes, even edging on brilliant. seriously, thanks for visiting. it's always nice when you pop in to share your special talents.

brizo - some nice imagery there, particularly the fingers and furrows.

so cool

swaggering down the street
in your leather jacket
skin tight jeans
arrogant in your good looks
like a movie star
you’ve got a reputation
embrace being so cool
but the outer shell is just a mask
covering your twisted psyche
they found your mother
in pieces
in the basement freezer
and here are three cop cars
unloading officers
surrounding you
up against the wall
patting you down
handcuffing you
arresting you
taking you to jail
wave goodbye
to your old life
knowing your new one
wont be so cool

Such is the nature of malaise in the Rue Morgue
Frigid woman lie about in turgid repose
Giving the cold shoulder
To even colder hosts
No heat escapes these resting beauties
Nor is warmth apt to be noticed regardless
Ones breath hangs in the silent air
As though touched by your presence
Or that of an unspoken thought
But the air is still within still lungs
Amidst hearts no longer beating
In the flicker of a fluorescent light
Her once cherry lips
Tempt a jealous sky
Which peers mournfully from the window above
"Just lucky"thinks the pondering attendant
As he moves out her body from the cold
To the colder stillness of a darkened slab
She is lucky she will be able to behold those
Who behold her now sightless eyes
As they pass on by, one by one, one last time
Sharing condolences with all in attendance
Before the dust becomes dust
And the ash becomes ash once more
Such is the nature of malaise in the Rue Morgue

as you gave your name
your face crumpled
and I watched you struggle
to maintain your composure
It's okay, I said
though it clearly was not
take your time
something just hit me, you said
I persuaded you to take a rest
on the bench
wondering if I should call someone
and then, you were gone
and, touched by your presence
worried for the rest of the day
that you were, indeed
okay

Thanks Humor, that passage is more or less what I based the whole thing on, and it sprung to mind as soon as I saw your list. You continue to be an excellent muse! Keep up the excellent work!

Have fun ;)!

I sit in constant motion of what when where or how...
my life will become once again a simplicit vow....
i wonder and question of so much in lifes misery...
of interstate highways and the blackness of the nights sea...
yet i always come back to the inadiquit thoughts of present and past tense....
of the point of no retrun breaks when i am touched by your prescence...

never forgetting yesterdays smile....
not the roads that wind towards countless miles...
i continue to struggle on what could be...
what may be and what my life could one day foresee...
yet i always return to past and present tense...
the no going back to foregoings simply touched by your prescence...

Some folks will forever idle wild
Spend time mindlessly daydreaming
Making time only to laze around the lake
Sipping Mojito's from an inflatable raft
Praying in desperation for deliverance
From their insignificant day to day stresses
Despite creating even more awkward messes
While it is all well and good to know
On that day as they wail and sail sighing
Course less and remorseless waylaid and relentless
That they will in time go home soon
Leaving in pieces the peace that has eluded them
Like so much trash scattered across the beaches
Of the lake that reflects all but what truly matters
Who they truly are and what they are escaping
As that shall haunt them wherever they might go

On that Day.....

We spoke of we...
laughed cause it felt good
smiled cause' we could
Listened and glistened
as we should!
Smelled something
and it turned out to be...
Me lovin' you...
you lovin' me.....
And it was a Good Thing!
We danced and we held...
every memory melded...
like a welders bright flame
There is no one to blame...
for a moment ...
we blended
We flew...high ...suspended
in the air...
where we landed...
and we landed as Friends...
quite the new blend
Somethin' better than the last blend~
I wanna package it...and sell it...
It's that good BABUY.....
Buyyyyy It!

mmmmmy - the sense of smell is often overlooked. thanks for reminding us.

on that day

on that day
i awoke early
and brought the car in
for the annual inspection
went to the bank
paid for the safe deposit box
went to the market
and got assorted items
went online
and learned a few things
went to the doctor
and submitted to an exam
went to the park, walked the dog
and made a call to a new prospect
went out to dinner
and had a good time with a friend
went back home and on the net
and had a great chat with a good friend
who proposed, out of the blue
heartfelt sentiments
understood and appreciated
simply…postponed
for now
but my soul sings
he loves everything about me
including my evil twist
despite what the future holds
and that day
was yesterday
