The man is a fool, end of, the sooner he is gone the better.
i couldn't agree more, and while we have 3 months before next season starts, do we even stand a chance with all the crap going on?
Custodians, my arse!! | |

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 5/16/2008 4:32:36 AM | Custodian ?? I wouldnt leave him in charge of custard ! We have three months as you say till season starts, this little episode could well go on past August, i suppose it all depends on how the money men handle the credit crunch over the next few months, things could get a lot worse yet and the rope could well tighten around Hick's neck. Well heres hoping.
Fi, how do you do the quote bit in the grey box ? Havent got a scooby how to do it !

its sherry too, Fiona is shreks partner, my ideal man is that shrek.
OT,
TO be fair, doing a 'leeds' is what scares me, recouping our debs right now is feesable, but if we have to lash out maybe double the current debt if the hillbillys have their way we could have, it would see our club crumble.
and before you start that would stand on all clubs on a leveraged buy out.

I just want all this garbage over, the players in we need and a decent pre season, with no american influence to cause trouble. Have you noticed since the season has finished there are no revelations or outspoken interviews ? In a time where they should be gobbing off and gettingh things done they are silent, preferring to undermine Rafa and the team at crucial points in the season.
Wee Sammy was at Melwood for the last training session, getting stuck in like he has never been away, they could have given him a new top tho, looks like his letters have been stuck on top of an old shirt !

I would be surprised if we made any signings this summer, would it bother me, no, not to much, give our form at the tail end of this season, its going to be pretty hard to improve. a few maybe in the January window, by which point, the ownership would be settled.
as for other teams, Arse are loosing a fair few and it seems the chavs spending silly money in order to buy the title again next season so, hey ho.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 5/19/2008 5:03:31 PM | no wonder i hate platini. Taken from LFC.tv, via RAWK........
Incompetence Personified
On Wednesday, Manchester United and Chelsea fans will descend on Moscow to watch their teams battle it out for the title of Champions of Europe 2008. One Liverpool supporter this week highlighted what the supporters of both clubs will have to endure upon arrival in the Russian capital.
"UEFA are going to allow United and Chelsea fans to be picked up at the airports in Moscow and held in Gulags all day, before being driven to the ground in prison style buses, some as early as 4 or 5 hours before the game. Then depending on flight times, some will be held in the ground after the game for up to 6 hours while they gradually let fans out.
Gulag - 'the Gulag system has become primarily known as a place for political prisoners and as a mechanism for repressing political opposition to the Soviet state'.
Or football fans it seems."
Whilst many Liverpool supporters would take great pleasure in seeing their Mancunian and London counterparts incarcerated in Gulags and caged buses, these actions enforced by UEFA could be the catalyst for mass confrontation and the ugly scenes that are synonamous when the English national side travel across Europe.
UEFA president Michel Platini has made no great secret of his dislike of Liverpool and English supporters following the events that unfolded at the 1985 European Cup final in Heysel, where 39 supporters were killed after the collapse of a wall in the Block Z area of the stadium. Despite the facts being printed in black and white (no pun intended) the former Juventus star still feels that the event 'robbed' him of his finest hour in Europe's premier club competition. Since that fateful night in May 1985 his resentment of English clubs for what happened at Heysel has not waned, especially after his coronation as head of UEFA.
His inaugural 'main event' as it were was the Champions League final of 2007 between Liverpool and AC Milan in Athen's Olympic Stadium. Trouble occurred after thousands of ticketless supporters stormed the makeshift turnstiles in a bid to gain entry which left thousands with genuine tickets locked outside the stadium.. In the aftermatch of the game William Gaillard, UEFA's Director of Communications, said that the problems in Greece were typical of the behaviour of some Liverpool, claiming that there had been 23 incidents in the previous 4 years of such behaviour. Gaillard also branded the club's supporters the worst in Europe. This coming despite him previously stating that Liverpool 'have a tradition of good behaviour'. This also came after Gaillard himself had admitted a fortnight before the game that the stadium in which the game was staged was not equipped or built to stage a showpiece final. He also claimed fans had stolen tickets "out of the hands of children" and said "we know what happened in Athens and Liverpool fans were the cause of most of the trouble there".
While the name of Liverpool as well as other English clubs were being smeared across Europe by Gaillard in an attempt to exonorate UEFA of any wrongdoing, Platini remained tight-lipped until he was pressured by British MPs who publically stated that Gaillard, who is the most senior adviser to Platini at the federation, was covering up his organisation's own incompetence with such comments. The tag that was disgracefully bestowed on Liverpool supporters was made null and void when Platini met with Sports Minister Richard Caborn a month later but the Frenchman's refusal to clairfy the position of UEFA on the fallout from Athens showed that he still thought very little of English clubs.
If, heaven forbid, trouble was to occur at the final on Wednesday it would almost certainly give free license to Platini, Gaillard and UEFA to launch an international smear campaign against British clubs following the ugly scenes in Manchester that marred the UEFA Cup final between Zenith St Petersburg and Glasgow Rangers last week in which Rangers supporters ran riot across the city, stabbing a Russian supporter and openly rounding on and assaulting a solitary police officer. The fact that five English teams have reached the Champions League final betwene 2005 and 2008 will pale insignificantly as incidents in Athens and Moscow will overshadow those orchestrated in Istanbul and Paris by Liverpool and Arsenal fans respectively. Chelsea and Manchester United supporters will be castigated by European football's governing body with the possibility of a second five year ban being imposed on all English clubs as it was in 1985.
The Heysel stadium disaster was, contrary to what has been misconstrued by several mediums, not a result of English hooliganism although it was a factor in the squirmishes between the two sides on the terrace later on that evening. The stadium itself was outdated and far from being a suitable venue for a matchofsmch magnitude. Large parts of it were crumbling and at the time many felt the ground was unsafe for any major event with Liverpool's Peter Robinson urgently requesting that UEFA move the final to a more suitable and safer venue. Arsenal had played there several years previous and their supporters had spoke of how dilapidated the stadium was.
The day after the disaster Gunter Schneider, UEFA's chief observer, stated that "Only the English fans were responsible. Of that there is no doubt." He did not state that Liverpool fans were solely to blame, something that has been backed up by several Juventus supporters who were at the game who claim that there were supporters from many British clubs, including Wednesday's finalists Chelsea. A day later then prime minister Margaret Thatcher, who had previously stated her dislike of the city of Liverpool as well as football supporters nationwide, pressured the FA to ban all English clubs from Europe indefinitely. Two days later she was granted her wish as UEFA banned all English sides for what they stated was "an indeterminate period of time". The ban ran for 5 years with Liverpool being served an additonal 3 year ban which was curtailed two years early. No one was investigated for their part in the disaster; not UEFA, not the Belgian police, not even the owners of the crumbling Heysel stadium.
Platini was the Juventus vice captain that night and scored the decisive penalty which won his side the trophy in a game which had very little or no significance given the mass loss of life on the terraces hours earlier. Despite witnessing the horor and devastation first hand, he is still adamant that all supporters of English clubs are still the ardent hooligans that followed their clubs as well as the national side in the early 1980s. With that in mind, as well as the multiple failures by his organisation in Athens a year ago, he may see the preventative measures put forward by UEFA and strictly enforced by the hardline Russian police as the perfect excuse for English clubs once again to be banned from European club competitions; the perfect crime in the eyes of the federation who will not be culpable for their actions should such a situation arise.
Twenty three years on from the horrific events that unfolded in Brussels, UEFA still haven't learned their lesson.

A morning Rant!!! - Why Fergie is not the finest boss you'll see
apologies for the writing as this was all done in a rage and without to much thought put into it. I only drew on facts that I could think of right off the top of my head. It's in response to an article written in the Daily Mail sports section.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/art...-boss-see.html
I just wish that I could express things a lot better as to why Fergie is nowhere near as great as Sir Bob was.
I do not like to start my mornings with a rant. I may not be a morning person but having a good old rant in the morning is not me. Now being a Liverpool fan any achievement by our rivals up the east Lancashire road will always be something that I would be loathed to acknowledge. Inevitably given United’s recent gains in Europe, a whole bunch of United fans have suddenly popped out of the woodwork and a steady stream of rubbish is being distributed through the media.
Paul Hayward this morning has printed an article in the Daily Mail acclaiming Ferguson’s virtues as a Manager. Now as much as it pains me to say, his record does speak for itself and he has achieved a lot during his time at United. However to bestow the title of finest boss we’ll ever see is purely down to too much Vodka in Moscow my friend.
If the originator of the article had bestowed Fergie’s virtues as a manager on it’s own, I probably would have dismissed the article but upon reading rubbish like:
Quote: It's time now, in a solemn ceremony, to move old Bob aside and say that not even Paisley's European Cup wins of 1977, 1978 and 1981 can stand comparison with Ferguson's record
I just had to respond.
Alex Ferguson has been at Manchester United for 22 years. That is more than double the time that Sir Bob Paisley had been at LFC. There is no doubt that if Sir Bob Paisley had carried on longer than he did, he would have achieved far far more than Fergie has.
Paisley's record of 19 major titles over 9 years is astounding. That is an average of a double every single year! Back to back European cups and then a 3rd after Brian Clough’s Forrest had gone on to win back to back titles in Europe as well. Is this an achievement that should “just be moved aside”? In terms of European competition Fergie at United has only just matched Brian Clough’s achievements at Nottingham Forrest
I suppose it’s easy for today’s generation of instant cash, instant food, Instant glory to comfortably brush aside feats achieved by those that have gone before. After all this is a generation that enjoys the luxury of a fast paced and instantaneous lifestyle so history is quickly forgotten.
Quote: his sterling work at Aberdeen, Ferguson's Nottingham Forest
Brian Clough took Derby all the way from two tiers down the league to the league title in his time there! Sterling work at Aberdeen? Aberdeen finished second in the top league in Scotland prior to his arrival. Cloughie took Derby up two divisions before finally succeeding in the first division. Now that is sterling work
Quote: Still stuck on one are a host of household names: Busby, Jock Stein, Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff, Fabio Capello, Marcello Lippi and (Ferguson will enjoy this bit), Jose Mourinho and Rafael Benitez. Bill Shankly and Wenger score a zero
Paisley still won it 3 times in the space of 8 years, less time than it took Fergie to win 2.
Maybe Sir Bob Paisley is easy to dismiss by Paul Hayward because of how unassuming Sir Bob was. He was quiet, humble and let his players speak for him with their performances. Unlike Ferguson who is known for his rants and antics as much as his players were.
I’m sure that at some point Paul Hayward will argue that Sir Bob inherited a great team and that Fergie had to build one from scratch. Oh Paul Hayward, for all your lovely research, and from a Liverpool fan’s point of view of our current Manager here is one fact that your love in with Fergie won’t be able to shift. Rafael Benitez won the European Cup in his First season at Liverpool. Not the FA Cup 3 seasons after arriving, But the Champion’s league with a team that didn’t consist of major names. He won that and perhaps finished 5th in the league, but Fergie finished 13th in the league in the year they won their first trophy. 2 years later, Rafa benitez again gets Liverpool to a CL final whilst it took Fergie how long before he got to another CL Final?
Given how dismissive that Hayward is over Sir Bob Paisley’s achievements would he be equally as dismissive of Fergie’s achievements after Rafa wins a few more trophies? Fergie the finest boss we’ll ever see? Sorry but Sir Bob was

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 6/12/2008 9:36:59 AM | Just as a matter of interest...what would the % be on FA cups for Fergie in that case...
I'm surprised that Fergie's winning % is higher overall, you'd think that being in charge for so much longer that the opposite was more likely. I'm also surprised that Paisley never won an FA cup. I was actually sure he'd won one or two but there you go...wonders never cease. Great managers both. Liverpool have had some of the all time best in my book...

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 6/21/2008 5:10:19 AM | [quote} so what signing do you think we should get then to improve?
If money wasn't an issue (here we go...........fantasy again), I would sign Micah Richards to replace Sammy Hypia, Jesus Navas for right wing, Silva for left wing replacing Harry Kewell, Bojan to partner Torres up front, Lulinha as another attacking option from midfield other than Stevie G.
And as a bold move to end all bold moves, I would snatch Fabregas from Arsenal.
Fantasy stuff? You bet!
Yes, my favorite PC Game is FIFA 2008. Word of warning: Three years ago I spotted a bright looking kid playing his football at Atletico Madrid named Fernando Torres who I didn't hesitate to add to my Liverpool squad back then. Imagine my surprise when Liverpool actually signed him at the beginning of last season.
Anyway, I hope this doesn't bend anyones nose out of joint. It's all meant in fun.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 6/21/2008 9:59:19 AM | I would just like to wish Gunner Riise all the best in his career away from Anfield.
He has been a fantastic servant to the club & his left foot cannonballs will be greatly missed.
I've a slight misunderstanding as to why he was allowed to leave as i personally rate him a lot higher than Aurelio. Who for me is too injury prone.
Hope to see you again at Anfield one day, wearing the Red of the rue Red army.
One last thing, here's hoping that Kewell's luck changes & he can have an injury free end to his career.
