| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 7:05:38 AM | ARGH!!!
been banned and just got back on.
Sundays game was bollox. The ref had a point top make over his failings in the previous match. END OF. Masch got the initial booking, but consitancy wasnt there when Torres was tacklet. As for the 2nd yellow, WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP.... all he asked was what was going on. Simple. Yet later in the game SG makes a comment to the ref 'your taking the foooking pi$$' what? no booking, surely that is a worse offence then masch, whats going on???
Rotation... we have rotated less players then UTD, yet we get the stick. why?
Veronin, ok, not good enough, he was a freebie. no loss.
Kuyt, he is a team player, works his backside off, not good enough? erm, ok, good enough last season?? yeah, he was our highest PL scorer, 2nd highest over all. He has had an off season but still managed 9 goals so far this season..... yeah, he's crap.....
Babel, still a baby, give him chance, he has the makings of a legend.
Hyypia, damn legens, never want to saee him go, want him with us forever, even if its on the coaching side, the man has alot to offer.
Yossi, like the lad. needs to be a bit more agressive though.
THe lads did show fear on sunday, the only players up for it IMO was Torres, Masch and Arbeloa, but even he had a not so great game. We havent won there for years, its like they went expecting to loose or scrounge a point at best.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 7:22:59 AM | Watch the replay. Torres got a yellow for dissent. Mascherano runs 30 yds, brushes aside Alonso who tries to hold him back, to confront the ref. What did you think was going to happen? The rest of the Liverpool team knew. Mascherano was stupid and unprofessional. Bennett was the 4th official at the Chelsea game with the butthead Cole incident, and is card happy to begin with. | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 7:33:28 AM | watched the game, and you want me to torture myself with a bloody replay?? your mad!!!
Torres got the card for dissent, ok, but no Vidic wasnt booked for the countless times, Torres has since has scans done on his ribs and ankles. Bollox, whats being done there?? oh yeah, we were playing UTD he must of done them to himself....
Masch was wrong to get involved, But he didnt show dissent, he went nuts after the 2nd card, why the ref was taking the preverbial, Alonso bearly held the lad, he was frustrated, to be honest by that point he inconsistancy of the ref had tore my patience to shreads. One rule for one and another for another.
Bennett had to show he was 'the man' yeah dead big of him. This game is THE game, its bound to be heated. Refs need to expect that at games like this and the derby.

Yes my dear, he did show dissent, and twice, hence 2 yellow cards and the red. And for his actions after the sending off, that is the reason why the FA should increase his ban.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 9:00:24 AM | | No problem with Kuyt's workrate or his desire. But he lacks the pace needed in the premiership, when he first joined I thought we might have had a Mark Hughes type player but with the new system Rafa seems to be playing I'm not sure he fits in anymore. Our rotation problem is that we do not have the strength in depth that Man U have, so when we rotate out our first choice our second choice players are just that. I like Babel, and as people have been saying I can see him playing through the middle in future seasons. Sami has been magnificent for us, a true leader, but his time has come, 10 years and a testimonial will be perfect for him. | |

and how many players show worse behaviour and language, his goal celebration last week should of been yellow carded then should it not?
If the FA get involved with this and dont pick up on any other issues then that goes along way in proving hte dislike for our club more then any others, how many times has Sir Alex slagged off a ref and nothing has been done?
I'm not sure he fits in anymore.
I disagree, he has it in him, he goes into each game and runs the pitch length over and over again, he is there on enough occasions to make sure some one gets the ball, his finishing, just like Riise's this season has let him down, a bit!
Can you not see Sami on the coaching team?
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 10:08:50 AM | I'm not defending any player that shows dissent or a lack of respect to the officials or other players. I'm not defending managers either. Kuyt works hard but his skills are not premiership quality, at best he is championship quality. | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 12:02:48 PM | Rafa does not need any striker, he already has got it. who? the mighty Torres
it is a pleasure to see the English almost worshipping him like God................well at least Red supporters.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/25/2008 1:14:48 PM | Oh boy here we go. You make it sound like he's Mark Hughes or Eric Cantona.
I will give him credit, and he has definitely proved his worth. BUT, he can't do it by himself. Not in this league. Too many good centre-halfs in this league pal.

At the moment poor Dirk is stuck out on the right wing where, as always, he does his best, but he does not give us penetration down the flank. I like the lad but effort is not enough ultimately. We cannot afford any sentimentality if we are to be champions again. Having said that when Rafa brought God back to us it was one of the best days of my life! : )
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/26/2008 11:46:25 AM | "he can't do it by himself"
what do you mean? well Torres is a forward, so he is only 'forced' to score goals. and that is exactly what he does. it really does not matter how the hell he gets the ball. the important is to place the bloody ball in the bloody net i think.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/26/2008 12:18:05 PM | The fact that Gerrard is now playing just behind Torres proves that it's not a one man show up front. It also means that we don't need another striker.
I also think it's about time the reserves were given more of a chance to impress, there's a lot of good young players at the club & out on loan. Given the oppotunity these will become greats for the club.
Watch out for lads like Jordy Brouwer, Emiliano Insua, Krisztian Nemeth Ryan Flynn Ryan Crowther & Jack Hobbs.
Do as Man Utd once did & give youth more chance, rather than spending big on mediocre players.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/26/2008 12:41:19 PM | Oh Pepe, you aren't getting my point.
Why is Gerrard playing that role? Because there is noone else to play with Torres. Kuyt and Voronin can't cut it, and for some reason, Rafa seems to have no faith in Crouch. The few times I've seen them play together, they looked dangerous. Gerrard is better suited to play in his regular position not "in the hole." Then again, he is overrated anyway. I agree they should be bringing in more homegrown young talent. That Man U group of youngsters was special, it helped that they got to learn and play with some legends, plus argueably the best manager in the world.

Oh you were trying to get a point across.....No still can't see it.
Seems like you're one ofthe Ferguson clones, you know the ones them that don't give credit where credit is due.
Ferguson best manager in the world....No way there's better tacticians....Namely Mourinho. Ok I think he's a great mannager & will go down as ONE of the greats.
Only a few of the Man Utd youth that came through were great players, Scholes, Giggs & Butt are worthy of being classed as special.
Both Nevilles are garbage & Beckham is only a right foot in dangerous areas
As for Gerrard being over-rated, nah don't think so. We also had Carragher, Fowler, Owen, Redknapp, McManaman & Rob Jones. The only problem we didn't have the manager at the time.
Erm.....Rush.....legend......Barnes......legend.....Grobbelaar.....legend......
Gerrard is playing in that position on merit, he's a powerful player going forward can play others in as well as get himself into the right places.
On the topic of Pepe....When I played my nickname was Barthez......but it used to p*ss me off got I was a better keeper (and I was a striker).

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/26/2008 2:50:18 PM | We desperately need another striker, because when Torres is injured we have no one else to threaten to get in behind the defence. I like Crouch but he will never get in behind you. The other major problem we have is that when Gerrard plays in centre midfield we are too open. Rafa likes two defensive midfielders in there as do many other coaches, and at the moment this gives Gerrard freedom to make merry. Babel can play in Stevies place but who plays in Torres'. If that is how we are going to play then we need cover for Torres and two very quick wingers. God knows where they are though : )
It would be lovely to see someone from the academy come through because at the moment that whole place seems like a massive waste of money.....
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/26/2008 2:56:43 PM | An ideal signing would be Ledley King, but I can't see Tottenham letting him go.
I think there's quite a few of the young lads that should be on the fringes of making the step up next season.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/26/2008 4:28:23 PM |
I like Crouch but he will never get in behind you.
Thank god!
My point is that asking Torres to play a lone striker role is unfair. Any team that has a good defence will handle him pretty easily. Throw someone up there for him to play with and off of and it'd be a whole lot more effective. It'd ease the pressure on him and allow him more space. I didn't say Fergie was the best, I said "argueably the best." Implying that their are others that are just as good and open to debate. I like Mourinho, I'm a big fan of his new show, I'm on Setanta Sports. I won't argue with the Neville comment, I like neither, especially Gary. You are being unfair to Beckham, he was special too. Arguably one of the best right sided midfielders of his time, and arguably one of the best crossers and free kick takers. Yes, he is predominantly one footed, so was Maradona lest we forget. This trend of one footed players is appauling. Whatever happened to learning to kick with both feet, like it used to be? Oh I do think Gerrard is overrated, loses the ball way too much. Lampard is a smarter player. But neither is as good as Scholes. England could well use him, even though he can't tackle..........at all.
Gerrard is playing in that position on merit, he's a powerful player going forward can play others in as well as get himself into the right places.
Until he loses the ball dribbling, or tries to force a pass that isn't on or shoots horribly off target.
We also had Carragher, Fowler, Owen, Redknapp, McManaman & Rob Jones. The only problem we didn't have the manager at the time.

All great players. You forgot Dalgleish, Kennedy, Souness, Smyth, Clemence and others.

The one's I mentioned played along the youth that came in. I did forget to mention Dominic Matteo though who was a decent member of the youth policy.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/27/2008 8:02:33 AM | | What's your thoughts regarding the England v. France game? I haven't seen the game as it was pay per view, and I wasn't going to pay the $25, when Setanta is televising it on friday night and saturday morning. | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/27/2008 10:56:10 AM | I didn't watch it has I don't think the players we've got have the passion to play for their country.
If they did have they'd be winning no matter who was in charge. Yes I'd like to see them do well, but as it was just a meaningless friendly (as most of Englands games will be for quite).
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/27/2008 11:31:27 AM | | Well at least Terry wasn't the captain, that guy has too many temper tantrums. I'm disappointed Beckham wasn't made captain for the game. It should've been him leading the team out on the field for his 100th cap. | |
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/27/2008 11:58:58 AM | the problem with England is they have had the worst managers the world has ever seen, Erikson and McLaren, whose knowledge of football is similar to mine of developing space rockets.
England have had great players like McManaman, Owen, Beckham (the best passer and free kicks taker in the world) and many more.
only if you have a great manager you get a great team, even if at the end of all it is the players who appear on the pitch, not the manager!

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/27/2008 1:27:11 PM | Sami has the makings of an excelent coach, he is an asset to the club in any form, he stuck with it when the captancy went to SG, he is total class, how many current players would stick with the club after that?
Kuyt was bought as a striker, he isnt though, he hasnt got that in him, but where he is he has still managed to get ?11 goas so far this season..... not bad.
Do any of you really think we are going to be league champions again any time soon, do you really think the hillbillys will put the money in thats needed?
long way off chaps.
Oh and SG out ranks lampard on any day.
|
| Liverpool F.C Posted: 3/27/2008 1:48:30 PM | Honest answer.............................no. Personally, I think they want Rafa out. The FA charged Mascherano. Stevie>Frank? Doubt it. | |
