| Liverpool F.C Posted: 4/4/2008 12:06:07 PM | gpj, dont know if you go on eseason on the lfc website at all, this is taken from a post someone put up about babels season so far paired against others, same position in their first season. Makes good reading....
"Christiano Ronaldo 2003/2004 14GS; 14SB; 4G; 4A
Joe Cole* 2003/2004 18GS; 17SB; 1G; 3A
Harry Kewell 2003/2004 36GS; 0SB; 7G; 2A
Jose Reyes* 2003/2004 7GS; 6SB; 2G; 1A
Arjen Robben 2004/2005 14GS; 4SB; 7G; 9A
David Bentley 2005/2006 23GS; 6SB; 3G; 1A
Tomas Rosicky 2006/2007 22GS; 4SB; 3G; 4A
Ashley Young 2006/2007 11GS; 2SB; 2G; 3A
Jermaine Pennant 2006/2007 20GS; 14SB; 1G; 6A
Luis Nani 2007/2008 14GS; 9SB; 3G; 5A
Florent Malouda 2007/2008 13GS; 4SB; 1G; 1A
Ryan Babel 2007/2008 12GS; 15SB; 4G; 2A
Emmanuel Eboue* 2007/2008 15GS; 2SB; 0G; 1A
*Not sure if Eboue, Reyes, Cole were playing on wing at this time.
Surprisingly fot the game time babel received he is really up with some of the best. Only notably Robben did better, but he stepped into a title winning side that cruised the league that year. My only concern with these stats is that Babel SERIOUSLY lacks assists."

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 4/7/2008 10:39:17 AM | WELL DONE SAMI !
Sami Hyypia today spoke of his delight after a agreeing a new deal which will take him into a tenth season at Anfield. Despite interest from other clubs, the 34-year-old Finnish defender admitted it never crossed his mind to leave and that he's thrilled to be given the chance to clock up a decade of service with the Reds. "I'm delighted that everyone wants me to stay here," he said. "I have a good relationship with everyone at the club, the fans and the players, so it would have been a big wrench for me to leave. "But I wasn't thinking about it too much. The most important thing for me was to concentrate on the games and if I played well then maybe the club would want me to stay. "I would have had some options to go elsewhere but everything here has been great and I have enjoyed everything about my time here. "It's not so common for a foreign player in this country to spend ten years at one club so I am delighted to stay with this great club. "We will see what next year brings. I will keep working hard and keep myself fit and whenever the manager needs me I will be there."
Nice one Sami, good to see you can still show the young uns how its done.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 4/7/2008 12:57:39 PM | Yet more congratulations !!
Well done the reserves, a 1 -0 victory tonight over Blackburn secured their 17th league title courtesy of a Krisztian Nemeth goal in the first half, latching on to a sublime pass from Daniel Pacheco to seal the win for the young guns. Ronald Huth took man of the match for a sturdy display in the back line yet again.
Interesting to note Plessis only came on for the last 15 minutes or so, will we see him again tomorrow night ??

lol, ok just for you, Spearing came into his own in the second half, was fairly quiet throughout the first but made up for it after the break, closing down a lot of attacks by blackburn with some well timed tackles.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 4/8/2008 5:22:35 PM | I couldn't watch the game because I was at work, but I followed it on Matchcenter. Going to watch the rerun in an hour and a half here..
But what a game.. I'm really interested to see what the foul for the PK looked like. I couldn't help but cheer a bit in the office when Gerrard scored the PK.

| Liverpool F.C Posted: 4/9/2008 4:16:42 AM | what a game last night! splendid, majestic, beautiful, pure and brilliant football
now there is not any doubt why Anfield always has been considered as The Temple of the British Football (at least here in Spain), really supporters act and help like an extra player on the pitch.
the mighty Spaniard Torres scored again with a great goal (almost 30 during the whole season) it was a pleasure to hear the supporters when he was substituted.
watching my fellow countryman Torres last night made me feel proud of my country, and it showed that Spain has great footballers. has anybody noticed that there were 5 Spaniards on the pitch last night? Reina, Almunia, Cesc, Torres and Alonso. and if we add Rafa it is 6.
clearly Spain rocks | |
