| Why dont more people use POF
Posted: 1/1/2007 11:44:41 PM | Yes, I have no complaints on this site. I have met alot of people on it so far and cannot complain since it is free. I only heard about it through a friend in another state about 4 months ago, before that I never knew they had a free dating site. I think the reason why more people don't use it, is because most don't know about it, and are afraid of getting spammed. I told two guys about it and they did not sign up because of that reason. Oh well their loss.   | |

Posted: 1/2/2007 12:20:44 AM | I like POF I don't mind it at all, why people pay i have no idea, maybe POF should be out there more so more people can use this site, if you was to post a profile on rsvp, match.com or any other Australian site, I am sure that would get wind of it a cancell your profile for giving this site up.
Maybe they can link the POF to other sites so that more people can use this like we do?

Posted: 1/2/2007 6:11:20 AM | It seems to me that there are a tremendous amount of folks on POF already.... Not only is this a wonderful place to meet others of the opposite sex, its a great avenue for friendship too.
It also plays a great role for the unemployed.... why I know someone who stays on here all night now, sleeps all day, I guess its more productive then going out and finding a job. | |

I think every one is out there to find something else to curb their lonliness ....while others are at home with thier bobby vinton record singing mr. lonely in kareoke...lol

jsut keep telling people about p o f is the best thing that we can do, plus don't gorget about the singles parties that p o f arranges for US, what other dating site would do that, went to the new year party at LESCRATCH, it was AWESOME.....

I wouldnt pay eharmony , or true, but match works for dating, unfortunately pof dosnt,even though most of the women on pof in my area , are on match also. | |

Posted: 1/3/2007 4:54:16 AM | I think the thing holding people back is just that they never heard of it. I can just say for myself how I found out about it. About three weeks ago I was looking to join some site, I have never joined such a site but was looking to. Well, I wanted to do some research first and find out which ones were best, so I did a web search.
Well, the search turned up entries from this very forum, about the problems with some of the other (pay) sites, which I had always suspected. Maybe pay sites can work better for women when there are a lot more guys on there... but if there are more guys, the pay sites have an incentive to keep guys paying, and hence the false winks and messages sent out to keep them paying is just outrageous. I have also used various types of internet chats, hoping to find locals, but what you get there is so often either people from countries looking to come here, or the famous financial frauds, or spambots leading you to adult pay sites.
Also in the pay sites, of course they also have the well known problems of dead profiles meant to string in more people, and the problem if others you want to contact are not members so that you might never get a chance to contact them.
So again, I think the only real problem is that many people never heard of this site. Well as the greed of the well known names keep going, and more people hear of sites like this, I can only imagine it will continue to grow. | |

Posted: 1/3/2007 9:51:33 AM | It has been advertised in Canada as it is a Canadian site. I saw it on TV during Ghost Whisper once but had already found it on my own. I'm not sure if it has been advertised outside of Canada but here is some advice for the ones that say the pond is empty where they live....
Tell everyone you know, put up posters at the supermarket, you know that bulletin board in your apartment building, how about just putting them where single people are likely to see them. The YMCA, group centres etc.
So tell someone.....they might tell two friends and they might tell two friends and so on and so on.......

I have been enamored with the quality of the forums and find some of the intelligent life that is obviously out there refreshing. (Admit it ---- sometimes we all doubt it exists!) To put icing on the cake, I did have several pleasant dates with a super nice guy from this site, too! (And no, he was not the criminal they were looking for on TV!). POF ROCKS! | |
