| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 1/30/2007 9:00:16 PM | Doesnt lasering them off leave a scar.
I had my first tattoo christmas before last, its small and discreet and my ex used to love licking it when we were fooling around. I dont know if everyone's the same but that area is the most sensitive part of my back now - must have been the agony caused when I had it done...... I wouldnt have a name on my body unless it were in another language but would consider another tattoo symbolic of love for my (hopefully) next partner.

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 2/2/2007 1:51:27 AM | omg ! lol well i certainly wouldn't have a bf's name tattooed on me. I've known people who have had it done, and they aren't together anymore. They have had to have it removed or covered over with another tattoo. Nothing is guaranteed right? Or, ok if u are certain both totally commited to each other, have it done together. Then both can be idiots can't ya lol both in same predicament if split | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 4/9/2007 4:44:44 AM | Having a name of a partner is a bit OTT, I know a girl who has 2 kids to a guy, he's a bit of a player and they are no longer together, she has his surname just above her pubic line, talk about ownership
The best idea if you are set on getting it done is to have it done in Arabic, Chinese or Hindi. That way if it all goes pear shaped, you are still left with an ok Tattoo that isn't a reminder of them or the need to explain to anyone about it, particularly a new partner.

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 4/9/2007 4:54:56 AM | NEVER! I will never ever in my lifetime have a partners name tattooed onto my body.
In my mind that is a way of him 'branding' me and as I am not a cow I don't think I'd like being branded.
My own children's names yes, and their dates of birth, I will eventually have them done, as and when I have the children and they will probably be small descreet tattoos on my wrists, as though they're bracelets, permanently marked there. Even more possible, under my eyes tattoo at the base of my spine, but I'd definitely prefer them where I can see them.
But a partners name? Absolutely not!

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 5/3/2007 4:33:30 AM | Having a partners name tattooed on your person is deemed very unlucky in the tattooing industry these days and has been for many years. A superstitious Tattooist wouldn't tattoo a partners name full stop, a respectable tattooist would advise highly against it before hand and a down right evil tattooist would probably do it without any questions and would probably have an evil grin on their face whilst doing it.
PS. never be frightened to ask any sort of question about anything to do with tattoos to a tattooist before you have one. Any decent tattooist worth their salt should be happy with whatever qualm big or small you may have about tattooing.

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 5/4/2007 12:35:36 PM | I can understand men getting their kids names tattooed on their bodies but why anyone would have a partners name put on them is beyond me. One of my ex boyfriends whom I had recently split up with, went off on a boozy weekend to sulk about me finishing the relationship and came back having had his own name tattoed on his arm. I wonder how many people mistook him for a gay man | |

I do find it a little strange as iv never had any desire to get married so i dont know why i dream about it on that finger.
Altho i have three tattoos i dont think i would ever had a name.

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 6/4/2007 1:31:09 PM | | would not have partners name on my body ever ever unless i was more than a 100 % we were together forever, but that is one thing none of us can ever be sure of, i do infact have a name tattoo'd on my shoulder but its of my cousin who i sadly lost to cancer , so this i will never regret and found some kinda comfort in, i think if i had an x partners name on me i would regret for ever and a day so anyone thinkin of doin it JUST DONT | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/2/2007 1:23:46 PM | Tattoos unless they are tasteful are not nice. I know so many people who have had names of partners tattooed on them and regret them once the relationship breaks down. However I have seen some amazing designs and some of the artistry and skill involved in it is unbelieveable. It is personal preference and very individual to everyone. I would never have an partners name tattooed on my person because there are plently of other ways to show you care and some much more romantic ways too. I do however have a tattoo, it does not have a name on it as such, it is a comemoration of a life. I had it done to comemorate my mother life which was taken away in her prime. Having it done means that she will always be with me. It took me nearly 7 years to find a design that I liked, even then I redesign it until I got it exactly how I wanted it and then I spent a long time researching tattooist. It is somewhere that can be covered or exposed because there are times and places when tattoos are not acceptable.
At the end of the day, each to their own. XX
