| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/2/2007 3:17:26 PM | | There are 2 names that would go on my body, one Im having designed currently, is a tattoo with my sons name, & the other will be a tribute to my Mum. Beyond that, partners & lovers names no way doesnt matter how in love I feel. | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/2/2007 4:20:00 PM | I have about 18 tattoos. Basically I love tattoo's, I am sort of in competition with my younger brother, both have similar amounts.
He recentley got a tribal design on his neck, it joins up with previous tats, so is similar to George Clooney's in the film Dusk till Dawn. My mum phoned me when he had it done, going ballistic, saying that I was encouraging him/ setting the wrong example?
Anyway the point of my post is, I am not gonna get a neck tattoo, but I am seriously considering getting my nephew and godson's name tattooed on the inside of my mouth. Already squared it with my dentist, who is more than happy to give me an injection in my mouth to numb the pain

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/2/2007 4:32:19 PM | I do like tattoos when they are tastefully done. I want to get one myself...BUT Never Ever would I put my girlfriends name as one ,OH NO!!! You'd like to think you've met a life partner but this is just wishful thinking...its too embarrassing if you have another partner. | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/2/2007 9:00:14 PM | Bad idea I have my ex's name on my right shoulder, it's a large tattoo as well. I'm going to have it gone over. We were together 27 years but it was still a bad idea in hindsight. | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/3/2007 2:25:53 AM | I would NEVER ever put a partners name anywhere tattooed on my body. Oh thats a definate no no. And I wouldnt be impressed if they put my name on their body either. As we know people change relationships change and when we move on what do you take with you, is that going to impress your new partner, id doubt it.
If anything I would have my kids names somewhere but they wouldnt be big & noticeable. But then again why have your kids names on you when they know damn well you love them.

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/3/2007 5:07:08 AM | Not into tattoo's myself but have always wondered why anyone ever has any name tattoo'd on themselves. The traditional first tattoo for many was either Mum or Dad i have been informed by others who bear them and i wonder why. Are the people insecure that have others names indelibly marking their skin? Is their love for them limited to being shown in the form of a mark on them forever? Be it mum, dad, partner or childrens names do they have to have a tattoo to prove they love them? Not against tattoo's myself, just do not wish to have one having learnt from the many people i know who do have them, one thing they share in common is the regret of having one or more done and its far too late to eradicate them. Also believe they look unsightly with age as they generally turn a blue shade failing to keep the initial clear colours. I guess its a case of each to their own and its their choice in life. | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/3/2007 5:17:39 AM | Regretfully, I had my own name tattooed on me when I was a 17 year old boy. If I recall, the reason was if i ever bumped my head hard on a shelf or something, then i'd be able to know what my name was.
I'm smart, me. | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/3/2007 6:07:12 AM | when my mom passed away i had the trinity tattooed on my shoulder and two rune stones underneath joy and mother earth my dad had joy tattooed on his chest... he said to the tattooist "i bet you think im a old fool having this done" his reply?....... there is age to sentiment......
i said i would never have a tattoo... but circumstances changed my way of thinking.... i would not have a name of a boyfriend/husband i think my brother-in-law summed it up the other day.... he as been married to my sister for 25 years plus.... "you don't have my name"..... he smiled and said "your not dead yet!" oh what a sick SOH we have in our family...

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/3/2007 6:22:40 AM | It's mad to even think about getting your partners name tattooed
But I am sure I have a tattoo on my forehead that can only be seen in night clubs and I am sure it say "I LUV FREAKS"

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/3/2007 10:31:45 AM | I`m sorry but shes a fool, the only names i would have tattoed would be my children. And even then unless you only have the one , your`ll have a arm that looks like scrabble board.
So i`d prefer a design that would symbolise instead. That way you and that person knows what it means but your not walking around like a branded farm animal!

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/5/2007 1:35:30 PM | | I wouldn't have a tattoo never mind someones name stamped on me. I look at people with 'Mum' and 'Dad' tattooed on them, what's all that about?!! There's better ways of proving your love for someone. | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/8/2007 11:38:02 AM | Yeah,I agree that a partner's name as a tatoo is a bad idea. It seems like a sweet gesture in theory but.... and maybe I'm just being bitter and jaded but, nothing lasts forever. However I'm not oppossed to the idea of a child's name. I know a guy who has their 3 names and d.o.b's which I think is sweet. Personaly I wouldn't get any tatoo ever anyway though. because a) I'm too fickle and I'd probably end up regretting my choice in a year and 2) Oh yeah! I'm a wuss | |

| Tattoo's - having a name tattooed on your body Posted: 7/10/2007 8:45:03 AM | Tatooes don't get me started...
Write a blog, write it on a book, show it to the world.
Especially a name...
As Jack Dee says:
What can possibly attract you to the tatooing "salons"?
And to that brown leather dentist seat?
You got that weird guy working your arm.
Ask for a lion, you get poochie.
The owners German sheperds is around; licking the wound clean. lmao
I wanted one when younger.
I got over it like boys/girls bands, booze drinking and cigarettes.
Have you?? | |
