| Southern Quotes and Phrases Posted: 1/2/2007 2:15:17 PM | Some of the funniest sayings that I can remember,
1) If you are asking someone if they are ready to go you say, "are you ready Freddy?, and they reply; Waitin on Clayton" 2)"If that don't beat a hen a rootin and a hog a flyin"--that means amazing 3)"Well, if that doesn't take the cake"--means you can't believe it or also amazing 4)"I'll be all over you like white on rice"--means I am going to whip your butt 5)"I'm so old all I can do is get in a pile and pat", lol--you can guess that one, hahaha 6)"You never miss the water till the well runs dry"--means taking something for granted 7)"If someone says "well", you reply "that's a deep subject and no good without a bucket" 8) If someone asks you how you are you reply "better un snuff and not half as dusty"--meaning you are "finer un frog hair"--both meaning you are fine, lolol
Just because I know these sayings doesn't mean that I use them, lol .......and then again I might, but I must confess I do let slip with "yant to", and bad to say fixin, hahaha
Isn't it grand to be southern.................and country
catchya later,

Why thankee suh! I grew up in Perry too..... small world! I sent you an email about someone you may know! Anyway, most of my "country tawk" is just spelling it the way it sounds when I talk. As for the sayings..... I've picked them up here and there.
Yard Bird is one of my dad's words. He grew up in Unadilla.
