i have had a woman tell me that the intense orgasms she has when i was with her made her headaches vanish.

im not sure if there is any connection between headaches and orgasms, but i do feel it is only fair, since i was the cause of her headaches in the first place.

A doctor once told me that mersyndol (sp?) was the strongest OTC pain killer out there

I've taken this before and it's good stuff!!! Er... I mean... It's a very effective pain reducer.

I use Naproxen sometimes... I went to get a new prescription for it and the doctor told me it's very hard on the stomach (I've never had a problem with this) but the doctor insisted on giving me Arthrotec.

After filling the $35 prescription!!!! I took one and had the worst stomach pains in my life!!!!

They gave me this because it would be easier on my stomach than the Naproxen I'm USED to taking with no side effects???? Grrr!!!

I recommend if you're getting a new prescription... buy maybe 3 pills... If you tolerate them.... buy more. I completely wasted my money as I had to throw them out!!!

I had a slipped disc in my back... and that is some serious back pain!!!

Best thing you can do for your back is to move around... although it HURTS!!! As far as I know bed rest for a hurt/strained back will only extend your recovery time.

Sure hope you're feeling better!!!

Recently I broke off half my molar in half on popcorn.. (Evil, evil, popcorn..)
So my Dad got the bright idea to give a girl whose 5'0 tall a tylenol 4 and some
advil...

I wouldn't really know about the pain killing part, but wow was I flying high at work!

I was too distracted by my screen saver and playing with the printing function on my
calculator (80085... enough said) to think about the pain in my mouth.

I did discover that I drool while concentrating, though.. That was kind of neat.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I was given tyleol 3s... they did sweet d!ck all... a single asperin worked waaay better... it seems I either am minimally affected by a number of drugs, or I have to take a shitload for them to do anything (I can take a 200mg caffein pill with a cuppacino bowl of espresso and barely feel it) the only thing that seems to work for most pain I've ever had was asperin... it doesn't bother my stomach so as long as it works I'll keep taking it... I've used it on a broken arm, wisdom teeth, strains, sprains and muscle tears... I've been given opiates (codeine and Percocet ) but all they ever did was make me tired..

Mind you the asperin doesn't kill the pain completely, but it brings it down to a level where I can usually ignore it...

I used to have the most painful leg aches when I was a kid, I've broken my wrist and fingers, had many tears/strains and sprains but the pain from those leg-aches as a kid were much worse... so I guess since then I've since developed a very high pain tolerance.

Mind over matter (some call it meditation) and 1 or 2 asperins are usually all I take now.

Ibuprophen is the best for pain relief I've found. I've hurt my back too and muscle relaxers didn't do a darn thing for me.

I just use Ibuprofen - you can take more than what they recommend on the bottle

I used to think this way too until I ended up with Pitting Edema.. serious swelling in my ankles and legs.. if your heart can't pump all the extra fluid out it ends up backing up around your lungs,... lethargy and high blood pressure.
Ibuprofen is not a miracle drug as I once thought. Anti-inflammatories are a wonderful thing but really- really must be taken with care.
I have a condition that requires a prescribed anti-inflammitory called VOLTAREN RAPIDE this one single fast acting pill is equivalent to a hand full of regular 400mg over the counter Ibuprofen without the swelling side effects. Taken with food it should be easily converted into relief without much damage to your already symptomatic conditions. I didn't want to go to the doctor to renew my prescription so I was buying Ibuprofen and popping them like candy- easier than a pain in the ass doctor visit. (( this was a 6 month duration of over using Ibuprofen ))

anything you want to ingest to help with a problem can be easily googled and find information to support your query.

For short term use Ibuprofen is easier on you than other popular OTC's. As with any medication you're introducing something that is foreign into your body and there will be consequences. It's a matter of finding the product with the least amount of side effects that addresses your problem. We're all going to have reactions to different medications. I can't take Naproxen, you dont agree with Ibuprofen and some can't take asprin. Trial and error or go get a massage and ice it.

Celebrex is a good anti-inflammatory too. There was a brief scare regarding heart disease but I think the hysteria has died down...

The best painkiller I've tried for my car accident induced back pain is Vioxx. It has two problems, though: 1) It was prescription only; 2) It was withdrawn from the market because of concerns it would cause heart attacks. Now I just live with it and pull out the heating pad, muscle relaxants and ASA when things get bad.

Let me throw in my 2 cents.

First you need to understand the SOURCE of the pain. If it's acute back pain (acute meaning you hurt it in the last 48 hours or so), you likely sprained/strained something, and the pain is being caused by a combination of inflammation and pain receptors in the joints/ligaments/muscles. Your best bet is to ice 20 mins on/10 min off in cycles, and take an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen. Stronger ones are available by prescription. Obviously don't lift anything else and let it heal for a few days. If you want to use heat, use it on the muscles and NOT the back or bones; you wouldn't heat a sprained ankle (increases swelling), so don't heat a sprained back.

If you have pain breathing, you prolly sprained a rib as well, so ice that too. Massaging it too hard will create more inflammation. Stretching too much will also tear more structures and increase pain/inflmmation, so don't stretch past the limit of discomfort for the next few days. Muscle relaxants will help a bit, but the major source of pain is inflammation not tight muscles.

Pain due to other conditions such as wisdom teeth, kidney stones, headaches, etc. involve different mechanisms of pain generation, and should be treated differently.

Excellent advice Neonmitch.

That's exactly what it is.. is soft tissue inflammaiton and strained muscles.. I was using heat.. bad bad idea the doc said. I am icing it every 20 mins or 20.. It's helping. The muscle relaxants helped as well..

The naprosyn actually works the best so far..I only have 10 days worth so I'm sure its going to be better. I also have an apppointment for IMS with the phsyio again. That actually helps alot!!!

Best pain killer i know of coming from a country boy is a 240 grainer out of a 44 mag...pain usually stops instantly and you suffer from no withdrawls or addictions..

Sorry if i put this in here but have been working (was) with a person that got addicted to perks, oxy, oxy ir's, t3's ,demerol.morph and anything else she could find or would be prescribed...I have been working for the past 2 months now with a screwed up forearm and elbow and will not see a doctor about it....cause i dont want any of that crap in my body.

Maybe i have a high tolerance to pain but after dealing with a person for 13 months and going down the pain killer road with her ,,,well its not worth it...One drug leads to another and thats how ppl get hooked...just my 2 cents worth here but i have worked with and know other ppl that have had pain killers prescribed for them..and it has never changed at all...they like the buzz and thats what they want...so sad to me to see this in ppl..

Be very careful with ibuprofen/advil. My doctor put me on it when I tore the ligaments in my back and as a result I ended up with major protein deposits that nearly gave me diabetes. Luckily I decided to go for a check-up last spring and they caught it before I ended up with full diabetes. Now what I take is Tylenol Ultra Relief as a pain killer (only as needed, so very rarely) and when the back spasms occur I take a prescription called cyclobenzaprine (sp?). Another OTC drug my doctor recommended which works well is Parafon Forte. It is a combination pain killer/muscle relaxant.....I believe you can also get it with codein (sp?).

Just a note on this.....my doctor had me taking 3 pills at a time 4 times a day and I had been on it for 6 years, which may explain the almost drastic side effects. Advil/Ibuprofen may be helpful as long as you don't overuse it like I was prescribed. The scary part is I got the same diagnosos and recommendation from 8-10 different doctors and the worst part is that none of them realized that it was all as a result of a hamstring injury and all of them refused to refer me to a specialist. Luckily I have a good doctor now who actually listens instead of just pushing pills.

Hmm, in my past years I would have said a few illeagal drugs. But I haven't done anything like that in a LONG time. So now, Vicadine. When I am in really bad pain that works like a champ. Mercyndol (not really sure how that is spelled) is a really good one too.

Honestly, it may sound a bit crackpot but I haven't found a pain yet that I havne't been able to cure with reflexology. No drugs of any sort involved with that. I hear accupuncture works just as well, if not better but you have to make sure the person with the 10 inch needles REALLY knows what they're doing.
