| Profiles: Are they accurate or made to look good (but not too truthful). Posted: 1/10/2007 5:47:32 PM | | This it without a doubt my biggest problem with online dating, there is just too much deception going on online. People do it hoping to get more responses, but i think if you put up an accurate profile of who you really are, you have a way better chance of connecting with someone. i would rather meet 1 woman that knows the real me and accepts me for who i am, that meet a 100 women that really don't know the real me. | |

| Profiles: Are they accurate or made to look good (but not too truthful). Posted: 1/13/2007 3:42:48 PM | well i have recently met a few guys, or planned to meet some, and found out they were lying about things. there is a guy on line in "beverly hills florida", wont mention his name, but you can find him if you want to. any way he has a picture of a fireman with a doberman dog licking his face. this man is actually trying to make people believe he is the fireman in the picture. but the strange thing is that the man in the picture is my sisters neighbor, and not this man at all. I have emailed this man and told him I know for a fact that this is not a picture of him because I know the man in the picture.. He refuses to take it off his profile and said he thinks it looks like him and he is getting a lot of favorites because of it. I wrote POF and told them this was a copyrighted picture taken off the internet, and he was dishonestly displaying it as being him, but they have not done anything about it. The man in the picture is a married man and is upset this other man is displaying his picture on a dating site... so you want to talk about HONESTY ???? hummmm there are some nice and honest people on this site, but also some very dishonest ones also...but hey, they are everywhere on this old earth..not just on dating sites... | |

| Profiles: Are they accurate or made to look good (but not too truthful). Posted: 1/15/2007 5:14:17 AM | Just saw a profile of a guy I recognize from about 6-7 years ago. (I"m better at recalling faces than names). Back then when I met him the same picture was already 5 years old, and another beefcake shot of him was 10 years old. He freely admitted all of this when we met for a very short coffee chat...... His excuse? "They look good". I agreed they did but that he in no way resembled them anymore. He looked much older and had put on quite a bit of weight. His current profile is full of flowery references to the spiritual and metaphysical, how he embraces his feminine side, blah blah blah.... All cutesy words which usually grab my attention for a bit too. Goes to show you how one REALLY REALLY needs to be careful. WD | |

Why lie? It's stupid to do so. "
Because people aren't always ethical. A friend of mine is telling a bunch of white lies on this site and he has hooked up with several women.
If he told the truth, he would have not come close to the women he was pursuing. It is a matter of ethics IMHO.
But I agree with you completely. | |
